We went to Newfoundland two years is a row.. first year we spent 5 weeks, first tow weeks was on a volunteer event for 2 weeks in Gros Mourne, then we toured for 3 weeks. The following year we went for the IceBerg festival.!! 4 weeks touring the island.. a total of 7 weeks and we still didn't see it all. An absolute amazing place..
Welcome to The Rock! It’s so exciting to see my home featured on your awesome channel. Thank you for showing the beauty and adventure to be had here. Hope you’re able to make it out to the east coast as well, and have a great week 2 :)
Newfoundland is beautiful without a doubt.....and wonderful people. You guys look like you have been finding some wonderful boondocking spots as well. Looks like an amazing trip. Continued safe travels....
Amazing sunsets in this video as well as beautiful coastal scenery. Tablelands was a "new place" for me--I don't remember reading about it before. Really cool to see both that area and the rocks around Green (?) Point. Thanks.
I love Newfoundland! Lived there when I was a child, and always feel like coming home when the ferry docks. Such a beautiful place, every corner of the province has something special to offer. Thanks for taking me there again 😀
We visited Newfoundland 11 years ago, and yes, it’s BIG! A 2 day trip across the island each way. We’re loving the revisit with you. The Tablelands was one of the most memorable places we visited. My reaction was exactly the same as Tom’s - a total nerd-out moment.
I was in northern Newfoundland back in the late 60's, so your expedition was a voyage of rediscovery for me. I had forgotten how beautiful it is. Thank you.
Congratulations on 100k! Enjoy your videos so much. Appreciate seeing you refresh your tanks and handle the "mundane" camp tasks along with seeing the breathtaking scenery you always find. We prefer boondocking, free and cheap, in isolated locations in a trailer/fifth wheel.
YES! We loved the Tablelands and Gros Morne. Newfoundland is huge and we were there for a month and only scratched the surface. The people are amazing. 🇨🇦
I absolutely loved your video so far of the beautiful province I call home. There is so much to see and explore here. It's a shame you never got to do the gross mourne national park tour. it's fantastic. enjoy your visit and safe travels. I love your videos and follow you also on YT
To get a good notion of the Rock's history, Vikings' early attempts at settling, the hardships endured by the local sealers and fishermen, read New Founde Land by Canadian author Farley Mowat. Opened my eyes and totally changed my understanding of NL.
Another great video. Great scenic views and information. Enjoyed it as the many other "on the move" videos. Tom is really a closet-geologist. You should plan a trip along the west coast of CA. Lots of cool geology and faulting that will blow your mind (e.g. Pinnacles National Pk). Watch a video on CA plate tectonics and you'll be hooked. Thanks again.
Can I ask what the display is that you are using that replaces your rear view mirror and what the backup camera is with it? Also, what is the antenna on the front bumper for? Thank you in advance, and travel safe!!!! I love watching your videos!!!
Just an amazon rear view screen, been working great for years! amzn.to/4dQrx09 Thats a cell booster antenna up there. Dont use it much tho so will prob take it down.
It is French, pronounced grow Marne, the S is silent. Same as Gros Ventre campground across from the Tetons in WY. It is pronounced grow vantage. Great video! Thanks for sharing. I hope to get to Newfoundland in the next 8 years.
Hi! What date did you land in Newfoundland? We are planning this trip next summer and are wondering about the weather. Are you posting as you go or were you there in June? Love your travel series! Thx.
Tons! Just be respectful and dont get it peoples way and they seem to be fine with you staying anywhere for a night. One of the best places we have been for freedom camping.
Hey Folks..Love the videos! N0t sure it will help, but when pronoucung Newfoundland, make sure it ryhmes with "understand"...say it out loud..."Understand, Newfoundland"...if it ryhmes, you're saying it right 🙂 Enjoy your time on "the Rock!"

Awesome video
We spent 2 weeks in Grosmorne and didn’t see everything for sure. It’s magical
Very cool we love rocks. Thanks for taking us along.
What a beautiful province! Another very informative video. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your adventures. The Atlantic Provinces and Newfoundland/Labrador are amazing places!
You have me checking the range of rigs to make sure I can make that trip! Keep traveling. It’s encouraging this old guy.
I think the max fuel distance we had to cover was about 400Km which isnt too bad, its expensive but fuel is available most towns.
Thanks for the ride along. Very interesting. Happy trails.

Wow. Amazing place a little different but Amazing...Happy Trails 🐕🦮
Thank you so much for sharing your travels.
Fantastic episode. Thanks for sharing.
Really liking this journey!
Canadian folk singer Stan Rogers wrote a great song called “Free in the harbor” about the plight of fishermen on Newfoundland. Worth a listen.
It's the journey... nice episode! Daredevil @ 30:32.. Safe travels!
New subbie from
Alberta, 🇨🇦! Great, informative video. When did you travel to NL? Where did you see the Caribou?
Tablelands Trail has been on our list for a while. One day we’ll get there.
Worth it!

The plight of the fisherman reminds me of the song Downeaster Alexa by Billy Joel
thanks guys
Nice!😊
This is a comment to an earlier video where you spoke about whalers and whale oil. You and your viewers may find this article interesting.

That is the French pronunciation, but in Newfoundland they anglicize it.

Thx.
Nope this is just a week old. August... but june would be better, get to see icebergs and more whales! We have to come back earlier.
Whale tail slaps are sometimes to stun fish. Prey.
Haven’t seen this plant since childhood. Did you sniff it to smell maple walnut?
At 35:08
THANKS! been 50 yrs since I've been there. PS; try Tim Hortons coffee
Ok you guys, i have to ask, what is that tube that sticks up above the right side of your hood....Javi G.
I believe that is a weboost for cell service.
It looks like you found a lot of nice boondocking spots. Could you just camp wherever you liked?
Tons! Just be respectful and dont get it peoples way and they seem to be fine with you staying anywhere for a night. One of the best places we have been for freedom camping.
Tom looks grumpy/unhappy for some reason. I hope everything is okay. Try adding some lovely music in your videos as you did before.
What's the cost to transport your camper on a ship?
It was about $65 on that one, the longer 6 hour at the other end of the island is about $220
Luna says motion sickness pills please next time!!!!
She got them and they worked! :)
