    I just had an epiphany! This is why I always need a punchier lip or blush color to look normal and non washed out. I’m pale olive with varying shades of dark brown hair (depending on my mood) But I’m naturally more high contrast. 🤯
    And I also like putting on my blouse before doing my makeup, because I always end up looking better in the end. Now I know it’s because I am actually matching the contrast or lack of contrast with what I’m wearing without realizing that’s what I’m doing-I just didn’t know the reason why it works for me!
    I learn so much from your videos!!!

      To hear someone say they had an epiphany is my personal medal of achievement so thank you! Yeah I always have to give myself a pep talk when I'm doing my makeup while my hair is wet. I'm like who IS that. Why is nothing working?? 😂

    I always said that if you are tired and you don't want anyone to notice, wear glitter eyeshadow and no one will notice.... Turns out I have chronic fatigue syndrome lol. Also, one winter, when I was a receptionist at a hair salon, I had bleach blonde hair and was wearing a white dress shirt, and a client didn't see me at the reception desk cause she said I blended into the white wall too much.

    As someone with light brown hair, green eyes and light green skin that tans golden... I am moderately high contrast in the winter, but in the summer when I tan my hair, eyes and skin are effectively the same shade of khaki and I have to turn everything on it's head 🤣

      Omg what is this coloring called?!? 😂 I’m the same ish but with slightly ashy dark blonde hair, warm hazel eyes that go from green to gold, and pale olive skin that also all blends in during the summer but looks more stark/contrasting in the winter

    I naturally have light brown hair. I have been dyeing it copper for the last year and wanted to back to my natural color, but my stylist ended up making it a very dark, (almost black)brown. I do like it, but it is wild how it changed my makeup preferences. All of a sudden I’m wearing Smokey eyes and pale glossy lips on a daily basis and feeling amazing lol

    Could you do a video showing an example of lighter contrast makeup? I feel like a lot of makeup content online is geared more towards higher contrast (probably because like you said, it shows up well on camera). But as a low contrast person that doesn’t work for me. I find it hard to judge how much is too much and how little is too little…

    As part of the color theory series...would looove an episode on adjusting foundation shades! Also maybe which brands offer olive foundation shades. I'm desaturated light medium neutral olive (I think) and the struggle is real. There's tons of examples and advice on reddit and what-not, but it would be really neat to see you mixing shades and showing what happens 😊

Of course the original makeup look was also a great look on you, however increasing the contrast accentuated all of your natural beauty. i've heard u talk about contrast a lot b4 but i nvr quite got why i as someone that has quite light skin & not very dark brown hair & brown eyes, and altogether could be described (coloration wise) very similarly to you felt like i was much more high contrast, but once you started talking about black & eyes i realized my eyes basically come across as black a lot of the time n how big a role that plays. there's some more contrast between my lips n the skin around them too, and the density of my eyebrows certainly plays a part. based on titles n thumbnails i don't feel the need 2 click on these videos of yours because i simply don't have any of the issues they're meant to help with but i've long since realized there could always be something for me to learn :]

  • @yensid4294
    @yensid4294 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    Contrast is often overlooked in favor of labeling colors warm or cool in the Beauty Sphere (That's problematic in & of itself since the concept of visual temp is over simplified & many fair people think they have a cool undertone when they don't. And foundations often pull far too yellow or pink) The idea of soft, or low/medium contrast doesn't seem to exist when discussing skintones & overall coloring. If you have a lot of yellow or red in your hair but visible pink in your skin, it can be very confusing. Doubly so for people with hazel-ish eyes that may contain both warm & cool colors. Soooo, people who would be "neutral" skintones are probably blended (warm & cool) or soft/muted. Change your haircolor drastically, & your contrast level changes too.
    Regarding black: I still wear black but when I do, I leave a lot of skin showing around my face (lower neckline) & bump up my makeup a little. A brighter lip, a smokier eye. Oddly, white looks worse on me than black because I need some contrast. If a color is too close to my skintone or too soft (grey) it washes me out much more than black or any deeper color. I never thought of myself as high contrast, but in a B&W photo, my skin looks very bright & my hair reads dark. Kinda wild.

    Wow - you have just explained to me why “committed” makeup, influencer makeup, neat hair, black clothes - why it all looks so harsh and aging on me - I am low contrast! I know from experience that a lighter hand with makeup looks better that when I cave to YT pressure and use bronzer and lots of blush and lip color. What you demonstrated makes sense to me!! I need to find my own way with color. Thank you!

      Okay so it's all relative and what would increase your contrast to 100% might be like 25% saturation on anyone else. Start with your bronzer and contour even on your eye look and see how those colors can increase intensity without you looking or feeling overdone 🤍🤍🤍
