Amsterdam is one of my favourite cities...avidey kure poyittundu. It is only 4 hours train journey from my place in Belgium. Amsterdam is visited by millions of tourists per year. Athukodnu, the city is very expensive to stay in Hotels, real estate, and renting a place. Eating and drinking out is ok price. Bro, next to your hotel it is not " French Fries", pakshe Belgian fries ( Belgian owner aanu). Red light districts are less now...because of too many annoying tourists, drunk people. Early 2000's when I was studying in the Netherlands, there was much much sex tourism there. Lot of Clubs, shows, sex shops etc.

@@rajprad9120 . sorry, so late reply! August is high tourist season. So, hotels etc are much more expensive. I would say take a hotel on the outskirts of Amsterdam, which would be cheaper. Then take a tram everyday, to and fro ( you can buy limitless ticket for 3 or 4 days). The tickets can be used in every public transport. Thieves / pickpockets are everywhere in all big and touristic cities all over Europe. Just have to be alert
