She is only doing it for the money, they get nothing, the parents spend money on bills, and everything else they want. These children, are just dolls for her to dress up and put in contests.

The worst part is, even if they win the highest title, they make chump change in comparison to how much the prep work costs. I mean, the Ultimate Grand Queen of Whateverthefuck title gets what, like a couple grand? That might cover the cost of the dress, since they usually buy new ones for each pageant. They're still paying hundreds, if not thousands, for the wigs, makeup, stylists, flippers (fake teeth), usually a second outfit for talent, shoes, any jewelry, spray tan, entry fees, and travel expenses. And that's not even counting if they hire a coach for dance routines or anything.
So they're not even doing it for the money most of the time. They're doing it solely so they can flaunt their kids and say "See, I'm better than you because my daughter won a ton of trophies she's can't lift and crowns she can't wear because they make them adult sized even though it's for a kid's pageant".
So fucked up. If my parents were to force me into this I'd run away

It's less about the fact that their child is good at walking up and down a stage and more about getting validation that *their* child is the most beautiful and special out of all the others, because it's a real boost to the parent's ego. The more trophies, the more of that validation they receive.
I get that every parent thinks their child(ren) are the most beautiful creatures in the world, but that becomes less touching and more disturbing when they start pathologically demanding that everyone else agrees.

I did a pageant that was a big deal when I was about 10. If you won you were “famous” and all the the girls that won were pretty and had perfect figures. I had lost and remembered crying non-stop for the next 2 days because I felt so bad about myself. Pageants are really just a big money scam and ruins little girls self-esteem.

When I was little me and my mom where watching a pageant episode and one of the girls didn't sing well or forgot the lyrics to the song and her mom just shook her head in disappointment. I looked at my mom and said "that's not right" and my mom said "those are parents who aren't proud in the effort of their child". It really sickened me the mom at the show. I know your kid forgot the lyrics, but be proud that at least she tried.

I was in a pagent when I was around 7 ("a" meaning singular because I realized it was a pain in the ass and like hell was I going through that torture again) I asked my dad if I could enter because one of my friends was entering. Now she honestly loves it and continued to pagent all throughout school. But I will never forget how another little girl was bawling her eyes out and saying to her mother "I wanna go home. Please I wanna go home." Her mom got mad at her because she was making her mascara run and then was even angrier when she won 3rd place. Fucking bitch.
Krista Alexander there are mums like this in dance too, my daughter dances because she loves it but we have had girls in her teams before just like what you described, constantly telling their mum in front of everyone that she hates dance and then the mum storming out of a competition because the girl didn’t get any placing and of course thinking their kid is better than everyone else and I can guarantee every time that it is the same parent who constantly sucks up to the coach

I actually was forced to go to my little cousins pageants when she was going them and I always watched her cry when she didn’t win and I never understood it at all she’s beautiful just the way she is she doesn’t need someone to make her feel like she isn’t every woman is beautiful in their own way
