Dad bought a new 4386 back in 79/80. I wasn't to thrilled about that tractor, gutless. I also owned the prototype 9380 quad track for a few years. It didn't even have a serial number. Last i heard it was in canada, north of the ND/MT border. It was a great tractor.

I don't know if you noticed but some of the latest steiger tractors to some of the newest steiger tractors have doubled in price to crank the way he was telling US inflation was for real in those days
Mainly it is an issue on horse power vs. what the axles and transmission for the tracks can handle. We see the same thing for John Deere in the 9RT range. In 2012 560 hp was the biggest Deere and the 9560RT was the biggest tracked machine. From 2015 to 2021 the top 9RT was the 9570RT. When the 9RX came out in 2016 the 9570RX was the seconded biggest 9RX. Deere did not feel the 9RT could handle being a 9620RT. In 2022 when the gen 3 9R range came out the number one and two units jumped from 570 to 590 and 620 to 640. How ever Deere felt the 9RT was maxed out and decided to offer the 9RT 570 along side the 9RX 590 in the tracked range rather than having a 9RT 590.
@bigtractorpower true but the 9390 could be ordered with the same transmission as the quadtracs and those axles can take way more horsepower than what was being put out at that time.
Why does Case and John Deere, for that matter, only make tractors that are 620 horsepower max? I think they started making 640 now, but what is the limiting factor? I know there are higher horsepower engines.
This may not be the place to ask this but would you say having an older tractor like this without all the emission controls (DPF, DEF EGR) would be a more reliable/cost effective machine to own and use?
Drove a 9170 for years loved that machine it never ran out of power. It had the Steiger logo on the front grill

Ran a 9330 with a chisel plow a few years back. Followed the manure spreader for many miles. Was a fun summer.

They are awesome. IH controlled all of its production at one time. I recently saw a picture of the International.

I remember running a 4368 & a 4586 V8 engine on the 45 they were good tractors for the kind in my area
Definitely love the 9380 quadtrac would use one for our broad acre cropping operation with the 44’ offset disc, just the nostalgia with them !

I run red Steigers for a fella out in Missouri. Ran the 9230 on the cart this fall, and soon enough a 9370 on a 44’ Krause field cultivator

I always like the looks of the Cace 4894 never driven one but I drive a Quadtrac 375 which as been up rated to 450 hp nice to drive
The 4894 and 4994 are cool tractors. I want to find a 4994. I am an STX375 fan. I have a 1/64 one on my model farm 😁

Love the content. Big fan of the Quad Track machines. Used them to pull double scraper pans for years.
