Man, your cottage is looking splendid for the summer. Amazing what a bit of hard work can do to the place. I'd love to sit on the end of the dock and chill out. Beautiful . Like your creative use of the camera on the end of your new wood planks. I think that's why your vlogs are so engaging. It's not just thrown together. Very pro editing and composition.
Screws don't back out over time like nails do. Also, in humid Southeast America, I always buy pressure treated wood but then ya gotta wait for them to completely cure/dry before painting or staining for lasting durability. I'm guilty of filling in more than one deck board crack with some 50 year or Lifetime acrylic or silicone paint-able caulk before. I think I filled-in most of the cracks in the fascia boards on my first home with caulk. When I finally had them covered with vinyl, the installer said the 'caulk filled fascia boards' would last forever HAHA! Hey, caulk fit my meager budget a lot more than new boards.
10:14 that moment when you hold the crowbar you are not be as Ken Domik anymore... you turn to become the Gordon Freeman~~ (Main character in Half-Life)
Which leads me to believe all the old wood under the cottage is most likely pressure treated (and old, of the arsenic variety that Guythreep Brushwood mentioned). Not to mention, Ken himself at the end of the video is planning on burning the old decking that is not only probably pressure treated, but also stained! Idiot!
Sweet camera angles, but yeah, looked like a long day... time to kick back a little and enjoy what's left

That is a huge deck... I love it :) Huntsville is a nice town.. I have a friend that lives north of Huntsville (Emsdale - near Novar on Highway 11)
Another good vlog. I love these diy vlogs!!!
Also am very sad and watch all diy shows haha. "This ole house "
Do you ever get a chance to relax and enjoy the cottage? Seems like all you do is work when you are there.
What the point of going to the cottage all Ken does is heavy labor work , can you just go to relax ?
A few months ago in a vlog Ken said that cottages are just a continuous work project.
so it's just more work to do when you're away from home? sounds like it sucks
It's a labor of love. You may have to have a meaningful family place to understand. I certainly do understand and it does not suck when you love it.
Very cool Ken
Hahahahahaha Ken, first thing I noticed when you picked the lumber up.....it wasn't pressured treated!!!
Ah well, you live you learn. :) :)
Would have loved to see you dad! He sounded awesome!
A Canadian without duct tape. Somewhere in the lodge, Red Green weeps...LOL
If those tuna melts were open-faced (no top bread), my mom always called those "barf burgers"...never asked why. :-)

Wow, relish. Ken what is going on. Those are PICKLES😂
Great vlog Ken, missing the drone footage
FYI - if that old decking is pressure treated, you are not supposed to have your son burn it. Contains loads of harmful substances.
Yeah, arsenic is probably something you want to avoid ...

First time you had Tuna Melts?!? Oh, what a shallow, empty life you have led to this point. :D
He said that's the first time he's had it the way his mom made it.
