My wife made me go to the Culture Club/Police concert at Cobo Arena that night! When I wanted to see Chrissie Ellen so bad, having seen them at Pine Knob earlier. What a tease! Later that night we ran into Chrissie at the RenCen she was with about 5 other friends and I got to apologize to her for my wife's poor taste in music. She roared with laughter and walked on! Decades later, I missed her tour with Neil Young which crippled me inside! Seems, back luck and trouble are my only friends. But I have always been faithful to you Ms. Hynde! The Queen of Rock n Roll!
Chrissie and the band were on fire for this concert. They really earned their money that night. It's a shame the audio isn't better. Just have to imagine that it is. Robbie McIntosh saved The Pretenders as far as I'm concerned. Without a great guitarist to fill in for Jimmy Scott, the follow-up band never would have worked.
My first concert ever was in August of 1984 and it was The Pretenders at an amphitheater in central California. Awesome show, so memorable and filled with pot smoke !!
I was at this show. My friend Jay and I had seats way in the back. We snuck up to the front and where in about the 8th row. What a show. Thanks for posting the show
Fantastic! I was at this show too; I'm six foot four and had to stand on the arms of my main floor seat to see anything. The girl I was with couldn't see the stage but said she had the best time!
This was one of the last shows, maybe even the last one before they closed the Fox for several years for remodeling. Robbie McIntosh is phenomenal on guitar here. A perfect replacement for James Honeyman-Scott!
Interesting. I saw Topol in Fiddler On The Roof in the Fox Theater in the late summer of 1990. Great facility. Gas station nearby was the first that I'd ever seen where you couldn't go inside and pay cage was like a jail 😅
What a great concert.......Pretenders and the Fox Detroit is a winning combo. One thing about Detroit is they'll will bring the house down if the concert rocks. They were atop of their game on this tour.
Chrissie’s on fire too, not just Mcintosh! And she’s a singer and a huge inspiration for every girl/woman who ever wanted to play amazing and front her own rock-punk group! Let’s not forget that! 🎤 🎸 👍🏼🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍 🎶 🎵🆒
Christy Hynde has a very interesting voice 👩but i don't know if it's an Alto or a Contralto, big move to move from Akron, Ohio to England, from: Scranton, Pennsylvania 👩
Hate is not a good word to use these days but some things you just hate. I hate it when a camera man doesn't know Who is playing lead guitar! And they focus on the other rhythm guitar when the lead is playing his heart out or they switch it to drummer or bassist or keyboards!!
Vídeos cancelados and something is missing in my room like my tapes or just a tape ( I,m not rich) from the pretenders but Íll get to remember that beautiful song They dońt get the Spanish Wikipedia right and they want to steal us from our memories … The English Wikipedia will guide our bando to Victory 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Finally i get to say " I was there" Jeff Smith ( Beach) and i up front. Great show.

Absolute truth! Well said. Jimmy was perfect.

Frank Albert is who I am referring to, I think I will do a little investigatory work on you right now....H.L.D. FBI Marshall tag number 1863
One of the most amazing Rock N Rollers period!!

I was at this show. also up front behind one of the cameraman. The alarm opened up. Grate show I've been looking for this recording for years.

She's so good it's crazy. Saw her this past July in Nashville, she was just as good.
"I found a picture of you, those were the happiest days of my life..."
"way to go michigan!" guitarist is on fire. this would be one to go back in time for.

I was front row center that night.
That lovely chorus sound 😍
I first saw the alarm at this show and I'm still listening to there music to this day.
I was there ,yea,!!!
One of my favorite Rock Groups! I'm a Drummer and I'm black too lol! Kudos to the people who appreciate good music period!
At first I was like, Martin's not black, oh. lol. Rock on.
Exceptional show! Martin Chambers is a BEAST on the kit!
Oh my god.
Thank you for posting this. The memories.. I still have the shirt.

Great show, love the Pretenders.
Saw them at Caldwell College in NJ in 84 or 85

Chrissie . . . sultry, seductive & drop-dead gorgeous, so talented , intelligent & man, what an attitude--

45:27 The Locomotion (!)
Different beat and how fast can they play this song? Not the best version but what do you expect?
Yes
Heck yes
needs more guitar

Broken D string at 55:20. Last song, who cares?
Sound is horrible !
Sounds like a 1984 TV special or VHS tape, surprised it isn't all stretched out and warped too. We are truly spoiled in a digital age.
@@mlwsf damn right! At least u can see their flowing talent
shitty quality for Mtv
Sooomuch coke!
the first pretenders were better.
@@jabwnmaker the bass player died too, but fair point.
Mark Goodman just ruins everything.
Not the same quality as James Honeyman scott/Pete Farndon lineup
