    Was pretty sure the feedback loop was adjusting the EQ of the repeats so thanks for clarifying. I am trying to use the Boss DD500 EchoRec setting to sound more like my Volante. The repeats on the Volante (at least where I have them set) not only roll off some highs and lows but also the volume after the first repeat seems to drop significantly. Not sure which frequencies are affected on the Volante but I will have to play around with that a bit. Thanks.

      Hello friend, did you manage to mount the dd500 preset similar to the steering Volante? can you share with us?

    Thanks for this, this really helped clear up some questions I had about the EQ placement.

    Watching it again just to check if I missed something makes me wanting have the same kind of video for two delay types I’m struggling with : pattern and shimmer.

      What sort of problems are you having with pattern and shimmer?

    • @Grozeil
      @Grozeil 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drew Vernon I find the shimmer to be difficult to make it sound « natural », I guess I have to tweak the eq more. For the pattern mode, I just don’t achieve to build the sounds I have in my head. As a homework, I’m trying to replicate the USER patterns, and don’t succeed in it as well.

      @@Grozeil boss shimmer suck ass, nearly unusable. Use Tera Echo instead, it's godly. If you must use shimmer, EQ out the "steel drum" by totally erasing 3.15 KHz with a narrow (higher value) Q and generally roll off the high end.

      @@Grozeil Since version 2, you can now select a second pitch character type, which sounds more more like Strymon, Eventide etc. the original mode is pretty horrible.

    hello, do I have any EQ settings for the analog delay to resemble El capistan?

    • @Drew_Vernon
      @Drew_Vernon  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't exactly no. But more or less, fewer high frequencies will get you in analog or tape territory.

    Is there a way to get the repeats clipping or distorting like an echoplex preamp would create using the EQ?

    • @Drew_Vernon
      @Drew_Vernon  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. The DD500 has horrible clipping/saturation capabilities unfortunately. Otherwise it would be the perfect delay :(

    Is there any difference between the high damp and high cut? Is it just that the damps are always in the loop but the other eq settings can be set pre/post or in the loop? I’m trying to set the vintage digital as much like a sdd as I can and the hi/lo damps seem right

    Do you think you'll ever do an in-depth technical guide like this, but instead for the Assigns function(s)? It's very hard for me to wrap my head around 1 assign, much less 8!

    • @Drew_Vernon
      @Drew_Vernon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wouldn't be against it! I moved house recently and don't have a viable filming setup right now, but I'll add it to my list of things to do videos for.

      WiresDreamDisasters super fair, and I know how much effort it takes to slate out and make a video so if that ends up being something you wouldn’t wanna do that’s fine, I appreciate it either way :)

    Thanks so much for making this video. I never understood before why the EQ setting were such a big part (at least potentially) of all the delay patches. Now it makes so much sense! One thing I still don’t understand is how the damp settings differ from the other EQ. I get that they cause some incremental attenuation each iteration of the delay; but how is that different from when the “main” EQ settings are inserted into the feedback loop?

    I'm a gear geek, and as much as I like twiddling, this shows me both how tweakable my DD is, and how I will never get the most from this thing. tooooo many controls! selling it and moving to a nemesis. no need for double delays
