Perfect video Matt, though I didn't see a link on the forum thread; I just found it through google. I bought my Isotop IV 18 months ago and those included instructions confused the hell out of me - so much it's still in the bag and I bought a Calitopper. This has convinced me to get it out of the bag and give it a go.
The instructons confused me so much! I am not a confident DIYer so I was nervous but its not so bad when you start. The end result is great, I love the isotop, let us know how you get on. :D.
Great follow up thread on the main forum with a few useful videos and suggestions from other users of the Cali and Isotop. What a great community we have!! vwcaliforniaclub.com/threads/brandrup-isotop-vi-any-reviews.33218/
Hi Matt and thank you for this very usefull video. I have one question before starting: is it necessary to let the roof open during the 48 hours we have to wait? My California sleeps in the street, so I would surely have to sleep in my street for two days too...;)
Hi We have on in ours se, I’ve been disappointed that the Velcro has come unstuck in the left hand corner at the front. Looks rubbish. I wish I’d have know to leave the hook & loop a couple of days before fitting. I may cut the hook and loop away, clean it up and reapply so more. Mine seams tight at the bottom and a bit baggy at the top.
Hi Nathan, I am sure if you cut the part that has came and away and re-apply it should fix your problem as you say. It doesn't help the instructions arent very clear. On the beach I also have to undo some zips at the front before closing. Assume this is the same on the SE? Where abouts is it sagging? Are the tabs at the front positioned correctly?
Hi After watching I remembered the adhesive promoter. Got some off eBay so I’ll try that. Mine seems to sag a bit at the side window areas. I think I attached the bottom Velcro first. I’ll try undoing it all and start at the top. You seem to have a good tight fit at the top part. As I say mines ok but the bottom left hand corner Velcro has pulled away. I’ll have a play with it. It’s a good bit of kit, combined with the pucer external wrap in winter. Perfect. 4 season van. Cairngorms with 2 ft of snow outside. Thanks for the video and reply
@@BurtReynoldstash I wish I had got one sooner to be honest, I would be quite happy camping in the snow now and it feels very satisfying being snug and warm when its cold outside. Hope the fix goes well and happy new year for tonight :)
Hi guys, do you think this would eliminate the requirement for an external insulated screen for the winter months? We have a youtube channel called calicamperfamily and have recently done a video on a ‘pucer screen’ and its pro’s and con’s. I have also bought a calitopper from Germany but am yet to test it. From your experience, is the ISO top something that could replace these other more faffy/time consuming solutions...? Good video, cheers, J.
Hi J! Matt here, love your channel! We have a windscreen cover from the club and found this a great addition that made a big difference to us. The roof versions are made of similar material I believe and make a bit difference by eliminating drafts and creating an insultation air space. I have not used an external roof topper personally but we found the isotop made a massive difference on cold nights, stops the draft and adds that air layer too. The fabric is quite high tech. Before we had it we found the heater downstairs didnt make enough difference upstairs but with the isotop, it suddenly held that heat much better. We certainly feel we can extend our camping season into winter now, and V and I don't feel I need an external topper as well. The only minor issue some folks report is being internal it slightly reduces the space inside, an external topper doesnt have this problem. However the fit and forget for us is worth it.
Sean Fallonfn the coast has the same manual roof as the beach so I believe it is exactly the same product. I’ve sent a message to the shop to confirm. The link in the description should link to the correct section.
Thank you for this video. Very "encouraging".
Another really useful video Matt. You have managed to make sense of the instructions and demystify them. Thank you very much. Simon
Simon banbury hope it helps, I found the instructions very bizarrely worded.

Hi do I need to leave the roof up for the 48 hours after applying the frieze band ?

Hi does the iso top fit a california coast and how much does it cost ?

Sean Fallonfn update from the shop if your coast has a manual roof It is the same as the beach if it’s electric it will be as per the Ocean.
Te latest version (Mk vi) work quite differently from this and hence it is a pain to fit
