I always loved the coupes. Had a CL600 that I just could not stop looking at. What kept me from this vintage was the wiring harnesses. Watching the progress, thank you guys!
@@peakperformance8960 yes thank you for that update. The ones with the biodegradable harness did have a coup version too iirc. Anyway awesome cars! It takes a special kind of person to drive one of these things.
I’m super impressed with the relative simplicity in getting the V12 in there. Just wondering how long we will have Stefan gracing us with his presence on your channel?
There's a company in Poland - K-jet killers - and they do a conversion to EFI with standalone ECU. But you decided to swap V12 in it.... this project looks sweet btw.
@10:06 You have to go with bigger turbos the option for smaller turbos is an absolutely entirely impossible option. I agree. Haha I love it. The option for smaller turbos was not even considered.
Called that on the r107 oil pan. I'm not familiar enough with the newer m113 family to say which engine would be the correct donor but that original rear sump pan was a huge issue. My drift car is a c107 so I've looked very deeply at different engine swap options.
Iapan got boat loads of desirable AMG conversions . LHD is a status symbol with those guys who have full body tattoos. on that V8 ,It's constant injection KEJet , more hydraulic that mechanical ,the actual mechanical injection,MFI was introduced on Mercedes cars with the gullwings and 300C models of the early 50's. It looks like a diesel set up. Porsche was still using in their race winners up into the 1980's. On the engine you pulled, see if it has adjustable tappets, if so,the engine is a hot one ,high compression and will have "AMG 5.0" stamped into the ends of the cams. Putting the M116-117 into Fintails, they are lighter than the old six units.
I'm really interested in this, will the haltec work the esp on the car or will that be deleted. I've a cl600 and its interesting to see we can do a haltec conversion on the car and get rid of some of the failure points.
Most people associate V12 with supercar and supercar with power. But V12s don't actually make much power. V12zms allow higher displacement without oversquaring the bore so you can rev it higher and still keep a small package. Most modern V12s are only built to be smooth. More cylinders means they fire closer together and timing can be set so they dont rumble, vibrate or drone. For big power V8 is ideal. As much as I hate to admit it since I'm not a V8 guy.
Awesome wide body SEC, but an e55 engine (NA or kompressor) probably would have given more than enough power and not upset the weight distribution too badly. A biturbo V12 is an awfully heavy and long engine...
Easy access to stand alone PCM for the M275 engine and trans combo would be awesome. Better yet, do away with the stupid fragile coil modules at the same time.
I always thought about doing these swaps since my mid 20s now I’m in my 30s and they’re starting to happen. Guess my gen is starting to get money now and make these dreams a reality

Can you fit my v12 bi turbo I have on a stand in my 2004 S500? I have the engine already . The car runs great, I just want to swap it. But I know I need someone who knows their stuff.
BE VERY careful around those 560sec euro headlights they do t makes them anymore you cant find lenses also if you remove them be very careful because they break internally and will brake plastic parts that cant be found.
A 500SEC with a V12 engine and new interior is one of my dream cars!!

@@mikewilliams4947 why? There’s no wiring harness issues with these cars
@@peakperformance8960 they did. The plastic casing on the engine looms deteriorated prematurely.
@@mikewilliams4947 I've only seen that on cars with the degradable wiring harnesses, any of the 80s or early 90s mercedes cars I own have been fine

You guys are unbelievable. Amazing work. This is what you call entertainment. Can't wait to see the finished result 👍🏻
You walk in the shop and see Jack Black, in the engine bay of an 500SEC sighing and saying "F**k me" WWYD?
Clean work as always🙌🏻
In some config it had 265 hp and 405 Nm from 1987.
that 500sec looks so good

Love the projects.
I also spy a Skid Factory shirt under those overalls!

Did you guys ever finish this 500SEC is it for sale ?

Love these projects. Look forward to seeing this Channel grow.
If you're going standalone on the V12 will you replace the mercedes coilpacks with COP's?
Seems like there's not that much space between plugs.
Did you ever finish this?
I see Stefan is wearing a "Skid Factory" tee shirt.

1) the driveshaft
2) the differential
3) rear wheel rims and tires
