  • Rival makeup line Makeup Forever took a shady shot at Rihanna's new Fenty line... but RiRi clapped right back!

Makeup Forever was first established in 1996...it took them almost 20 years to have 40 shades of foundation. Fenty Beauty launched with 40 shades right out the gate....So they can have a stadium of seats for the unnecessary shade towards Rihanna.

Keisha LaShae exactly. They were shook and all these other major brands should be shook too. She proved that inclusivity in a brand doesn't have to take decades to achieve

Exactly! It just shows that they just didn't want to put out a bigger range of shades all this time. Why not just give her props?

other brands made a way for rih to be able to have 40 shades, you think if rih wouldve made it 20 years ago shed start w 40 shades? no . most brands are expanding its 2017 duh

plus they didn't have the technology they have now, then. therefore, fenty would have the upper hand if MUF has been complacent to improve their formulas.MUF really needs to be more proactive though, because people, especially dark skinned women, have been complaining about the ashiness for some time now. If you want to stay in the game you have to improve and innovate.

I agree 100% with what the ladies are saying. MOST makeup companies don't really cater for darker skin on a whole. Now everyone is trying to say " Hey we have dark shades too". Hopefully Fenty will influence other brands to step up.

Before Fenty Beauty came out i used Make Up For Ever foundation because it was one of the only foundations that kinda matched me. But i had to buy TWO and mix them together. Which is pricey as hell since one is $43. Fenty Beauty came out and i tried shade 440 and it MATCHED PERFECTLY. NO MIXING! And the price point is reasonable for everything because its Rihanna. A celebrity. She could have charged anything she wanted for her products. But she made shades FOR EVERYONE AND MADE IT ACCESSIBLE FOR EVERYONE. That’s why i love Rihanna even more💕💗🇧🇧

I have been obsessed in the beauty industry for years, not just the fad that's it's become in the last three years. And let's be clear Fenty beauty offered a huge color range of foundations from the BEGINNING. A lot of these brands do not start off offering that many shades. The launch with around 15-20 shades normally more catered to lighter skin and they add on as time goes on. MUFE I have to mix two of your $40 foundations together to get my right shade. Off gate with Fenty Beauty, I no longer have to do that.

Strange that MUFE felt the need to even make such a remark. I use MUFE & was well aware of their wide range of colors from yellow, neutral & red undertones. Let FENTY have its moment, to be a new brand and to launch your first line with such a variety of shades is an accomplishment.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that about rihanna too. But the 'girl next door' isnt just one thing. I am not a fan of social media and you wont find me complimenting people randomly on ig. Its just not who i am. Different people have different personalities and so maybe the celebrities that u may think hail themselves as 'gods' are just different and express themselves differently. At the end of the day we dont know anyone personally so lets refrain from throwing shade....

I just wanted to say that Makeup Forever is Louis Vuitton's brand of makeup..... 🗣🗣 Meaning that they had the COIN to market to women of all skin tones BEFORE Rih dropped Fenty Beauty. Why all of a sudden are these makeup brands so interested in catering to different skin tones now that Fenty has gotten so much clout?! And on top of that being shady?!? Please... Makeup Forever's comment was unnecessary and unwarranted. Announce your shade range (that you never boasted about before) and go... 🙄

If I may respectfully correct Jeannie Mai who asserted M.A.C., launched to a Toronto department store in 1984, was the first to carry foundation for darker skin tones. The statement is incorrect. My mother and sisters have been and are still long time customers of Fashion Fair cosmetics; a brand founded in 1973 to cater to African-American women at a time when major make-up companies essentially ignored them. In addition, there was Prescriptives cosmetics established in 1979 known for their custom blend foundations and face powders. This brand I believe was owned by Estée Lauder. I have a family of beautiful women from the lightest to the darkest shades who have and/or still purchase these cosmetic brands. Do your research ladies. 📚

I'm almost always disappointed in LONI'S make-up. She's dark and her makeup team tries to lighten her. Not good. I'm dark and jewel tones look amazing on me when I do wear makeup, which is rare. For a very long time black women bought Fashion Fair. At one point that was the only makeup available to women of color. Most of these major brands didn't consider black women until they realize the purchasing power of "black dollars."

I think Make Up Forever's post exposed their own marketing weakness. They were out before Fenty Beauty and should have already expanded and solidified their market share among dark skinned women. Yes, people would have hyped up over Fenty Beauty because they love Rihanna but MUFE should have been established as an inclusive brand. Oh well.

Thank you!!!! Let your product speak for itself!!! Fenty Beauty is answering the calls to women of ALL shades. Some of these make up companies try and fail miserably. So to Makeup Forever, how about you go back and see where you went wrong and fix it!!!!

I really want to try Fenti but not in the tax bracket yet...lol! However, I disagree with MAC being the first. My grandmother used Fashion Fair for YEARS and I used it too. It is sold in Macy's and always catered to women of color.

Riri is a real bad gal! MUFE has great products BUT the shades they have for dark skin are NOT the greatest. It did leave me ashy or looking too red and dark. I had to mix 2 foundations. Fenty came through!!!! I found my shade in ONE bottle!!!

I’m a makeup artist, before fenty came through I had to custom make foundation for all POC. Way to come through RiRi. There’s no reason that it took this long for a beauty company to catch on but thank God she put it out there

MUFE did. I commented that on the first video I saw of it. MUFE is ashy but not all shades and Fenty dries darker than when you pump it out which looks like oxidation.

They are saying that makeup forever needs to market better so that customers know that they have 40 shades, but social media is marketing now in days, so they were just trying to let their customers know that they have had and still do have 40 shades.

i just got a Fenty foundation and it’s clear that it’s one of the best foundations it’s by far my favorite and i have red cheeks from acne and my forehead will sometimes become red as well and the foundations i used would cover it at first and as the day went on my face would look like i put nothing on it now with Fenty it says put and it doesn’t take as much to cover my face and it’s cheaper than most foundations i love it soooo much

Haven't tried either brand but I have one of those caucasian skin tones that means I've always needed to mix - I'm "neutral" (in terms of rosy vs yellow undertones) but no foundation has ever perfectly matched.
