Heating - installation by Patrik Prosko, Iceland 2024, documentary video

How we installed a heater on an ice circle from a kayak in Iceland, in the middle of a glacial lake. ❄️ First, there was a presentation with local guides and an introduction of the plan. They enthusiastically agreed, so we rented kayaks from them, put on rubber suits and in the evening set sail on the lake among the beautiful ice sculptures, looking for the right one for heating 👀
I had a heater, a backpack with tools, a camera and a drone for documentation in my kayak, so we were not allowed to click! I had the heater tied to the kayak until the last moment, until I was sure that it would hold well on the brush and not fall into the lake. It has a depth of 80 meters and a temperature of 2 degrees! 🥶 I tried it on several wrecks, but doing it from the kayak was still quite wobbly, just reaching there and trying to grab the heater😂. The covers kept swimming and changing positions, as soon as I leaned into it, the kayak pushed away again😅😅
But in the end we did it! 💪💪I finally included this work in my new exhibition at Galeria Sztuki Wozownia in Torun in September. And at the end of the video, a big sigh of relief "Mission done", because I have not yet launched or landed in a kayak with a drone. I learned how to do it all by hand the day before according to a TH-cam video!
After the photo shoot, we cleaned everything up again, we took the heater back to the mainland and I would like to thank the ice guides Simpá Fernandez and Gilbert Flynn Coombes for enabling and helping, and also Svetlana Frolikova for documenting the project, without whom this video would not be possible 😉👇
