I agree you don't know what could potentially be in the ocean. Blayke had every right to be damn scared. But the fact that Blayke overcame her fear is amazing

You shouldn’t be scared of it. You should respect it, because it can kill you faster than almost anything.
If they didn’t want her to be nervous about sharks then they need to stop saying things like “sharks may bite your finger.” Or “we may see some sharks.” “We gotta miss the sharks when we kayak.” Etc..
Yes, let your kids know sharks are a possibility, but reassure them and tell them that for the most part sharks don’t want anything to do with us unless provoked, or if they sense danger. Let your kids know that it’s going to be okay, don’t tell them stuff like that because that creates information that isn’t truly needed, especially for a little girl who reads up on all types of animals. I didn’t like how these parents did that, but every parent is different and to each their own I guess. (Unless you get a rogue shark who hates humans and attacks, then that is different, still tell your kids that’s a possibility too.)

I get pushing your kids to get over their fears BUT there's a BIG difference between pushing and forcing and they were forcing. Yes she did end up choosing on her own at the end which is fantastic.

I totally agree. If I didn't want to do something because I was scared to do it, the way that Adam and Danielle were treating Blayke would not want to make me do it anymore then I didn't want to originally. People shouldn't have to do things if they're scared to do it. You should never force somebody to do something that they are scared to do!

I’m nine almost ten and I’m still scared of the.Ocean because like I’ve heard all the stories about like people dying people getting him caught by the current from drowning and like all this stuff shot and all these animals that could hurt you in like potentially kill you but then my parents like pushed me to do stuff so now believe but I still get nervous and I think Blayke might be getting a little bit of anxiety

U got to give them a brake, my parents pushed me into. The water to get me to water skii and held me up while i was balling my eyes out and now I LOVE it so sometimes you NEED to push your kids, she’s fine now and they are doing great as par3ents

Adam is just doing a fatherly jokes, my dad does that to me all the time and I do it to him too. I think he just meant to say it into a joke but since Blakye was in that state of fear she thought it was true
because sometimes giving the kids an extra push to do some thing is what they need. yeah they’re afraid but that’s normal. she’d miss out on so much. if it gets to a point where she genuinely can’t do it and she genuinely is afraid then she wouldn’t be made to do it. she regrets not doing things when her parents don’t force her to.

Completely agree but I live in Australia and we do have people die of shark attacks, granted most deaths are a result of losing blood as the sharks usually spit you out but to think there is nothing to fear is a dangerous mindset. The ocean doesn't belong to us.

Why didn't they talk to Blayke about the diving before vs. spring it on her in the middle of the ocean right before it was time to go in. They do that with Parker for her anxiety. Between the jokes and that, I'm sad for Blayke.

I have an anxiety disorder and I totally understand where she’s coming from. If she doesn’t want to do it she doesn’t want to do it. And blaming her for the quints doesn’t help anyone.
Im terrified of hippos and alligator when my family and I came to the the Everglades (I live in Miami a city in Florida) I was scared af but my family understood and I stayed at the docs instead of going on the kayak in the end I decided to do it nobody forced me I wanted too it was unfair that they forced her

Yeah why is everything about the quints like she doesn’t need to always feel like she needs to be a role model for the quints, yes sometimes as a big sister, but she’s still a kid you know, plus why do Danielle and Adam keep talking about sharks
She wanted Blake to have fun and not regret not going. And she was not giving ANY attitude?! All she did was try to convince Blake to go so she isn’t left out. If one her younger sisters can do it, she can do it too. If anything, she has a LOT of patience while dealing 5 toddlers and another child. Plus, she would get hate anyways for not including Blake. Overall, I think Adam shouldn’t have been talking about sharks like “they may bite your fingers” because that probably made her more scared.

If she has an irrational fear, you shouldn't push her to do something just for the sake of not missing out on the fun. Obviously she's been traumatized by the shark encounter. She's cried about it multiple times and it still hasn't been addressed correctly.

The only way that a phobia can be stopped from escalating is not avoiding the object of the phobia. They were very gentle and reassuring, so it was a really good way to handle it. If they hadn't it would become a very big issue in the future

I know they'll probably never see this comment but getting her in a dive skin or wet suit will help. I have a fear of fish but it goes away when i know my skin is covered and the "danger" cant get me.

i have the exact same fear as blayke i think right to the worst situations and that really restricts things you to do things and i understand what she is going through. i am a few years older than blayke and what i have realized is that if i don’t do it i will be so upset that i chose not to do it. i also think that you should make memories and try things before it’s to late and just to go into the unknown and ALWAYS TRY NEE THINGS!!!!

I totally agree. It's videos like these that ruin my day. I wish they supported Blayke instead of just trying to get her to do it. The fact that they leave them alone with the hurt is actually what traumatizes them. I've seen the quints have tantrums, and I don't ever see any hugs that are given to them. Especially Riley, and I think that she needs it the most!!!

@지은 I think there's a big difference between hugging a child who is having a hard time, and just allowing them to break the rules. You can hold space for your children while having those boundaries. And poor Riley, don't even get me started on her again. Riley is the most misunderstood child on the show. That kid needs lots of validation, and she would definitely have my support, because I care. She's a strong willed kid, not a trouble maker for Pete's sake.

I understand what she is going through I have that fear with a lot of things. I am so happy she is trying these thing to face them to not always be like that every time. The things she is going through is normal. But over facing the things you don’t like can boost your confidence

I had an irrational fear of sharks when I was little. Now it’s rational since I was attacked by one as a teen. I have ptsd. Once, my now husband, convinced me to swim out to a floating dock with him to watch dolphins. I was so caught up in seeing wild dolphins that once they were gone and I realized where I was, I froze up and started crying. It took my husband 45 minutes to get me to swim back to shore. I was full on crying, shaking and hyperventilating. Full melt down.
