I had one little ivy sprig, that showed up out of nowhere, turn into a full blown two story growth up the north side of my chimney and house in no time. It started encroaching on the roof so I whacked it all off right at the base and watched it slowly lose its grip until I could yank it all down and poison the roots the next season. The job you are tackling is harder when ivy is growing up and around live trees ughhh…the ivy jacket surrounding the tree was just plain evil! You’ve made great strides in the rehab process 👌🙌.
I can’t wrap my head around the insane build up of rubbish even in areas where no one should be dragging it in. Mind blowing. On another note, I love how you show different ways of looking at things. That ivy “jacket” was crazy! And yes, I too felt very curious about that hole. Alex in Wonderland, lol! ❤
This was very satisfying! The clean up, the power weeding by hand, cutting the ivy, the birdie, such a variety of goodies to watch, lol, thank goodness there's no smellovision, 😅! I always enjoy watching your videos, you are an expert with landscaping, and offer us such a variety, never a dull moment, especially when you two are cracking us up! But, you are great when its just you too! I just think you should have at least 100,000 subs, you deserve it! Can't wait to see more! Take care, from your friend in Wisconsin!
Hi Alex, Hi invisible Gary...lol, Oh my Thank You, Thank You for feeding the Robin. Ive been waiting to see this since you told me about the Robin...🤗 What a beautiful bird, I know they are naughty but they are pretty and good company when your in the garden. Havent seen them down here in Tasmania. Im sure he or she will be back when you are there..lol. Wonder where that hole is and whats it for, the mind boggles 😳 You did an awesome job as you's always do. I hope you can save the trees, there are a lot of them but if its kept tidy, they should be ok. Stay Safe my friend. Its not the same watching without the banter and humour 🤣 but i really did enjoy it, just teasing. ❤🙏👍🐛🐝🐞🕸🤗
Great job on this part of the never ending back yard cleanup.I’m amazed how someone in that type of neighborhood can let their yard get into this condition.kudos to you sir.your the man 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Hi Alex. Sweet Robin and feeding it too, shame they’re hooligans of the bird world 😁. Great job clearing this area and the Ivy. Did you not realise Gary found that 8ft hole and he’s down it 😂 that’s the real reason he’s not there. Keep well.
Hi Alex, You did a lot of cleaning by yourself, so Congrats!! ✔ Wow that Ivy Jacket was Very Thick on that tree, never saw that here! 🌳 As for some of the trees when you come back...take off the tiny vines crawling up it too! Love the little Bird, 🐦 do you call it a Robin, is much smaller than ours, & ours is black feathers & orange breast & much bigger!! Finding that cassette, I love Rod Stewart music!! 🎶 As for the bone, 🦴 something a cat 🐈⬛ probably got..if you see them outside? Was a Great Video, hoping to see more soon!! Take care & have a Wonderful Weekend with your Family!! ❤ Love from Central Illinois USA 🥰😎✌💓
You did everything that was important at that moment. Cleaning up the trash and wood that was just lying there, weeded out what you could and then you freed some of the trees. I just wonder if they might want to cut it down. Would that be the best solution? Big thanks to you!!!💯👍👍👍
❤ watching this. I know this is what you do with the cutting on the ivy in the 🌲. It takes a wee while for the ivy to dry up & die. It was 👍🏻 when the local council got around to doing that with a huge 🌲 across from my front garden 🪴. The tenants weren’t living in their council flat then but were supposed to be moving back in. It was really bad but took a couple of months for it to die off. It was complained about & it took a while for them to do it. It was through me that it was saved. 👍🏻 work . Have a nice 😊 week
Fun Fact: Each US State has their own State Flower, Tree, Animal, etc. For Michigan our State Bird is the Robin, State Flower is the Apple Blossom, State Animal is the White Tailed Deer, and State Tree is the Eastern White Pine. Question: About how old are those Ivy vines that would produce such thick “vines”? Entertaining video as always. Thanks. 🫶
I thought for Florida the state animal would be the manatee, but it turned out to be the Florida Panther. The state tree here is the sabal palm, and our state bird happens to like singing at night and (very) early morning - the mockingbird.I wish we had Robin's here- they're so cute, but we do have cardinals so they're a lovely substitute !
@@lelleithmurray235 I love cardinals. There is a male that every morning and evening he flies around three trees that surround my backyard and stops to sing for a few minutes on each one. Absolutely love his singing. 🎶🎶
@@acreslawncare Have you ever dealt with wisteria vines, if you have them? They get huge and destroy trees and the land if not watched closely! Just an fyi/question.
Lovely job you did on your own, it’s nice to see cleared areas, and you inspire me to do some cleaning up in my garden as well. Like the ice cream bucket, I recognize it as something you’d use for seedlings or cuttings, put it in a sheltered place to overwinter, it gets covered with whatnot and you forget about it. Happens to me all the time. So out I go to clear the first part of my garden of pots and stuff. Thanks and have a great day m👋🏼👍
Great 👍 clean up in the garden ! Love the backyard of the house The owner could tell the neighbours that their having a bbq 🍖 with the wood 🪵 burn off in yard Have a good week Cheers 🥂 Love the channel and especially the getting rid of the ivy and the chainsaw Australia 🇦🇺 🦘👍👍👍👍👍
Alex, that bone doesn't appear big enough to be human. More than likely it's an animal that died there,or someone threw a bone out back there. Loved the precious little Robin hopping around. They used to be so rare to see when I was little. Nice to see they've made a comeback.
Ivy is the worst, it chokes the life out of trees. People should never let it go because it's so hard to get rid of later! You put in a hard day's work on it and it looks better already!
Hello ALC, I recently paid to have my conifers topped. They took a foot off and left them incredibly uneven. I can no longer afford to maintain them. I'm a single parent struggling with bills. Please advise if you know of a solution. Much love ♡
Gases, including oxygen, pass through the outer bark to and from the living cells of the inner layers of a tree. The gases move through stem pores called lenticels, whose function is equivalent to that of stomata, or breathing cells, found on leaves.
Best way to kill off the ivy is to paint those exposed cut areas, both top and bottom with weed killer specifically made to kill vines/ivy/or trees. In USA crossbow is a good one I’ve used before. By painting the cuts you don’t kill anything else, just the intended plants.
All that rubbish 😠 I have a hard time understanding how people can collect and throw that rubbish into their yard. This yard was a health hazard to you, the resident, the environment, and the neighbors. Beautiful little bird, probably thanking you for cleaning up that mess. I hate Ivy!!! Your doing great on this project, hang in there. ❤❤❤
Looks like a shank bone! You might have to paint some stuff on cut erea of the tree but it hes to be done straight after the cut as it'll get a seal on it. The rest will live off of the tree.
So neighbors complained about this dump back yard. I would have too. The person or people who live here should be helping you. Have some pride in there property. Respect the neighbors. This garbage has been piling up for sometime. I’m all about helping thy neighbor but, a lot of people are just lazy. Not caring how it impacts others. Looking for a free service. Do they give back? I doubt it.

That ivy is amazing. Like the sociopath of the plant world. If I had to guess, I would say that the tree fell down because the ivy girdled it, which of course kills it. Very sad. Kind of an evolutionary failure on the part of the ivy, really, to kill what it depends on. 🇨🇦💕

I moved into a house with ivy like that. Did what you did and cut. It is great seeing all the dead ivy now
Good job 👏 thanks for watching 😀
Thanks. Always enjoy your channel. This is tough work and you do it well. Again, thanks.

Great job hard work xx
Watch out for the ghost of the last gardener! Gòod job on the ivy root the Robin can't wait for his next easy meal.

I totally agree!
Great job as always, if I may ask, do you have any idea where all that household debris came from? Thanks for sharing.

Who doesn't luv Rod?
Great job. You da man. 😁❤
Thank you! 😁
Great job! I’m surprised ivy hasn’t been banned!
Oh that ivy is a clingy one! I hope having a decent amount cut off will stop the ivy from continuing to feed and latch on.
Hard to believe the trash. Yard material. But just trash. Yuk. But looking good. Liked the bird
I once stepped on a giant bone underwater at a beach in Southern California. To me, it looked like a person's leg bone but it was a cow's leg bone.
Oh wow that must have been a surprise 👍
That's from the 70s, it's a collectors item.
What a beautiful little bird. Do you know what kind it is?
It’s a robin red breast 😀 greedy little thing 😀
Doing that to ivy does work. I used it as one strategy to clear ivy off one side of the back of the house
Thank you 😊
No more ivy ever!! Job is going great due to your persistence.
A challenge....find the drain😅
Haha I’m on it already haha 😂
Lovely video relaxing to watch especially seeing the Robin redbreast following you.. I don't like Ivy Not good for the trees.
You made a big dent in the clean-up. Looks much better, for sure.

Good job well done . I think the ivy will die off eventually like you said no water supply , fingers crossed .👍
Those long trunks hanging down from the trees needs to all be cut off as they feeder roots from the ivy. Your doing a great job!
