Thank you very much for explaining what the camera volumes settings did cause it's a huge game changer in making some of the levels flow better. I think because of how much faster the characters are you end up triggering a lot of the setpiece cameras quicker and it was making stages like Silver's Crisis City pretty miserable to play so i'm glad they had the foresight to give us an option to turn them off.
Wow so after years of playing P-06 and messing around with different screen resolutions and texture qualities, just watched this video and turned off outlines, lights and reflections and I can now play it hella smooth with amazing graphics!!! OMG Thank you cant believe I didn’t know this all along
I think the question for any performance problem for this game should be Did you make a completely fresh install folder for the brand new zip? (Delete all old game files _not including save file folder_ ) Did you drag and drop the new game files over your old files? That way we have a solid and consistent basis for troubleshooting. - I have made that mistake in the past for the Shadow release patch(dragging and dropping over old files) . When I saw ChaosX saying to make a fresh new install folder. - Nothing replacing the old, delete everything that’s old before extracting. As it can create issues You can keep your save files folder across the Silver Release patches *that is it* When I did what Chaos recommended to everybody my game had the smooth performance I had when I originally made a fresh install before the Shadow release patch

I played Shadow's release on my computer and it ran flawlessly, but Silver's release came with a little bit of input lag for me for some reason. I am going to try adjusting the settings you suggested to see if there is any improvement. :)
Disabling camera volumes is huge, your don't want some random fixed camera to mess up a strat like Tails skip or the less risky water rail to castle skip.
True, but technically you could just jump over the rail skip barrier, and IDK what to do about Tails skip, I never pulled it off. Stelmo said he keeps them on. I suppose for IL runs, disabling them could work, like for Acropolis or Radical Train. I know a spot in Radical Train's Mach Speed that's pretty abysmal if you screw up, maybe this could help with the camera there? But for any% I don't think I'd do it, I kinda like the cinematic effect.
@@BluePrimeHero I suppose you're right, imagine if there was an option for leaving it on in scripted areas, but conditional to only if Sonic is moving on the scripted path, that way you can do skips and stuff

Downloaded the game, but it’s not letting me actually in the storyline. I can be inside of the actual game menu tamper with my graphic settings, but I cannot start the game.

I cant get past the disclaimer screen and I've been trying for a year. I've pressed every button and the only time I got it to play was on my steam deck.
Ironically enough the biggest performance drop for my pc is draw distance, i can have every other option on the higest or lowest setting and the performance isn't affected. The minute i put draw distance over medium thats when the game starts chugging.
Hi, do you know what causes the game to not register my controller (or mix my button layout up, in which case a lot of inputs don't even exist)? Running it on steam/big picture mode doesn't change anything and my controller works just fine with any other game.

Within the scope of this video, the other folders do not matter. Those are only important for mods. In which case check the mod tutorial! If you’re talking about the “save file” folder. It should appear when you make your first save (you have to complete a stage in the game for it to make a save file)

no. this is a fangame created from the ground up in the Unity engine. Owning an original copy of the game is only important for emulation, since that is how you get the rom

Someone told me anout p-06 being a Sonic the Hedgehog PC Port or a fan game I believe. What's the difference? I never played the OG 06 so I was wondering if this is something you can actually play with out speed running since im not a speed runner etc for casual gameplay for fun? Wondering how this works. Firstly, head to 7:15 in the video to see if those tricks to optimize the game work for you. If those don't, more likely than not your PC/Laptop isn't powerful enough to run P06. The game is still in it's early stages so it is not well optimized yet. I also reccommend checking other comments on this video for people's suggestions other than what I said
Biggest flaw of the entire game is the menu and settings. Took me 10 minutes to figure out you have to press space to select a save file. And you can't even configure your keys.

not necessarily speedrunning related but running p06 through SpecialK fixes a lot of framepacing issues that can make the game feel stuttery otherwise

What should I do if my jump button is also tied to my menu pause button and my back button on the menu is also tied to my start button?
if your downloading it and having trouble playing like x button is pressing pause close steam cause the overlay for controller is causing the issue

You can use a ps4/ps5 controller with it, and you don’t need any other software to use it
