Windows Vista on strange configurations

The system requirements of Windows Vista at its release were high: 512 MB RAM, 15 GB HDD, a video card which had to be compatible with Windows Aero technology. Compared to the Windows XP, the contrast is huge.
And so I've been thinking about one thing... It certainly sounds weird, but why not test Windows Vista on a configuration that will be well below the minimum?
