    As someone who moved to another country after marriage, I would give yourself some time to adjust before filming these types of videos. I’m worried you might feel the need to project being happy and perky so you don’t offend anyone, instead of just processing the real emotions of moving to a new culture and country. Your mental health should be your priority. It takes time to settle in, to actually feel like you’re living there and not just visiting for awhile.

      Couldn't agree more, but I think like people should experience everything in life and sometimes step out of their comfort zone and see the real world, only then can your life be fulfilling and i believe Niomi is the kind of girl who's very open minded and willing to try new things and Joe is an excellent guy, they have even ridden an auto rickshaw i mean how cool is that

    If you are still looking for an apartment... You HAVE to live in South Bombay..... I cannot stress this enough
    As a fellow Bombayite, the crowd in the the South Bombay is much more...‘international’ or a better way of framing it would be - most similar to the western culture.... staying to be would be a much easier cultural shift and the people are really great too! A great place in south Bombay is also Colaba, or the Marine Drive are with great sea facing apartments with a killer view and sunset!
    Also, please take caution of the pollution here, it is WAYYYYY more polluted that’s the UK... trust me, I got a cold this morning cause of the pollution this morning itself and I’ve been living here for 10years🙈
    So ya... this pollution is bad..... even for Indians

    Pre-cut fruits from a hotel like you are staying is as good as pre-cut fruits we get at breakfast in any hotels in US or UK or even better . The pre-cut fruits you should not eat is what is from the road side or vendors. But buying a whole fruit from them , washing and eating is no problem at all. Well, there are big supermarkets and fancy grocery stores in all Indian cities with almost everything you can get everywhere else in the world. You will figure all out in a few weeks!
    India is really a vast mixture, there is fully developed modern part(includes the hotel like you are staying and educated and high life style people) to the very extreme poor. But thats what make India incredible.
    referring to a comment here : Like all big cities around the world ( Spain, Rome, Milan, some parts of UK, San Fransisco etc ), robbery is present in Indian cities too, does not mean you cant wear jewelry or take valuables with you. But like everywhere else, just be cautious.
    Enjoy! :)

      @@Dianaxox3 The typical rule of thumb is that any fruit that has a thick peel is safe to eat. The concern comes for people who haven't built up a tolerance to the water in India. Fruit that is washed in water could have traces of bacteria that a lot of tourists/foreigners aren't used to and it ends up making them sick. So things like banana and papaya are usually fine because of their thick skin, but fruits like berries might cause problems before your digestive system gets accustomed!

    I recently moved to Scotland from my home country South Africa. I’m almost a year in Scotland now. I so relate to the holiday feeling in the beginning. I moved on my own, so you’re lucky to have a support system. The hardest thing I dealt with was how different everything was. Weather, people, accent, clothes, food, seasons, transport, etc etc. It’s great to be abroad but I will say there will be times where you miss home so badly that one thing gone wrong sends you into a spiral of tears. Now I have little bits and bobs from home to make me feel more at home and deal with the homesickness that I still get time to time.

    Just a friendly word of advice, get in to the practice of saying “Mumbai” and not “Bombay”. Bombay was the city’s colonial name, so it’s an important difference for a free India! That being said, still a transition that many Indians are still working on :)

    • @TheChewyleaf

    • @pranjalibhagwat2055
      @pranjalibhagwat2055 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      For me, Mumbai is a ahistorical name. Bombay as a name has its roots much deeper than when the british colonised. So I am sorry, but even as a 'free Indian' I prefer to stick with Bombay.

    • @albinbeart
      @albinbeart 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That is NOT true AT ALL. Bombay is 5e historical name for the city, it did not exist as an entity (there were just a series of much smaller and very scattered villages spread across th ocean before). Like Calcutta and Madras, Bombay was actually founded and settled by the British, these were desolate harbors far from the big cities in those days that the local rulers actually allowed the British to use. Bombay is actually a Portuguese name (it was a Portuguese owned land that passed to the British as part of the dory of Catherine de Braganza. It means Beautiful Bay. Mumbai on 5e other hand is nothing to do with a Bombay it is named for Mumba Devi who is a local deity, and the name change is nothing more than a nonsensical political move to distract people from real issues. So it is absolutely not a historical name, and it is perfectly fine, I dare say appropriate to continue to refer to these cities by their traditional names which are Bombay, Calcutta and Madras.

    I would suggest you to wear PM 2.5 (fine dust) masks. You can google the air quality index AQI and check it every day for your city, i do that always when i am in Asia, especially Seoul and Taipei. If it's really bad i wear a mask, because the fine dust really gets to me. I get throat infections and feel very tired and without energy. So better be protected, especially since you are not used to the fine dust. In London it can be bad too but not even close to the levels India has!

    Clicked so fast in this video! I'm Brazilian but I went to India in 2018, just two weeks before my mom passed out, and I have the place PREPARED ME for that situation. It's so highly spiritual and inspirational, I think I never learned so much in my life despite the crazy environment, so I hope you can let all that millenary culture sink in and embrace it. I know it can be crazy but I can honestly see you becoming a bit Indian yourself. So many nice people and such a beautiful place. And for a vegan girl like you, I bet the food will be amazing!

    As someone who has moved abroad various times, just know that culture shock is a cycle and it's completely normal - first phase is the holiday phase, next is usually missing all of what you're comfortable with and used to, but then comes the true embracing and integration of the new culture. Accept and embrace each phase as they come and you'll be golden 🥰

    If you're in a luxury hotel in India you can eat sliced fruit. The streets may not be hygienic but luxury hotels are. Basically you get what you pay for in India. If you go eat dirt cheap stuff then obviously hygiene isn't maintained, when you go to slightly expensive places then everything is clean.
