Finally a 11 meter radio that works!, I'll be buying a proper HF/Ham rig next and building a dipole antenna to go in the attic, so subscribe and stay tuned if you'd like to laugh at my next failure ;)
Got mine programmed in the shop, got my UK40Fm on F, arrives tomorrow, got the A99 & FS99 upgraded top section coming next week, opens the 6900n from 26mhz to 32mhz, when programmed. Still new to it, I'm a quick learner 😀
Hi G5 STU, come across an issue with this box I'm opening up to wide band. Did everything you showed but when I come to read or write data file it says communication port error check cables. Any idea. Cheers
Hold the function button down, go through the menu, you need to set it to recieve/transmit, as some come set as just recieve (r) and it should be on (r/t), hope that helped.
cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0223/4803/8208/files/SS_6900Setup_6.00.exe?537 that's the software, but if it's not receiving you may not be able to fix it. i had to get a new rig.
The dot might be for the scan memory function, what the dot means is when you scan channels, it skips channels that have dot against them... I can't remember how to turn it off yet though 😉
@@G5STU ah thats it, just stuck my rig on, if you single press FUNC then SCAN it operates the SC LIST option, this adds the dot beside the 2 on the 27. Figure which means it skips the channel while in scan mode 🐺
when you say you are going to add the file from the users group you dont say how you add it when i try opening those .dat files they dont open for me any ideas anyone please
I am somewhat confused, the guy you were speaking to, you told him to look for the TH-cam channel "Ham Radio for beginners" but the channel is called "G5STU - Stuart On The Hill" you must have renamed the channel. The SS6900 comes new in the box as a Ham Radio for 10mtr and after it is put into expert mode it becomes a very popular 40w 11mtr CB. I am wondering why for your first videos you did not use the likes of 2mtr/70cm radios (Baofeng being soo cheap for beginners) and also no where near CB frequencies since you say your channel is "Ham Radio for beginners".
I was a beginner then , but never really posted much Ham radio stuff so just changed the name to stu on the hill as thats what people call me on the radio
I have an HR-5500 (V6) which is the same radio as this and ages ago i programmed it and it works fine but recently i wanted to make some changes to the channels stored and it wont let me. If i read the radio it loads but immediately gives me a 'Frequency out of range' error in the programming software and shows the Frequency band as 28.000000 - 29.700000 but my stored channels go from 25.615000 - 30.105000. I tried creating a new file with the 25.615000 - 30.105000 frequency band set and typed in all my channels but when i try and upload that setting to the radio i get a different error message saying 'Frequency band type is wrong' and it refuses to upload to the radio. Any ideas please? Thanks, Steve.
@@G5STU Trying to reset the radio does nothing, 'res' never appears and it goes straight to 'rend' with no affect to the radio other than turning key bleeps on. Trying powering it up with Function and EMG/SRF pressed to change the band setting results in a blank screen and not the 1 band/2 band you got and turning the channel knob has no affect, holding Function just results in 'rend' appearing but no change in the radio. Im wondering if the radios rom is corrupted and preventing it being written to, the radio can be read by the pc software and it functions in normal use ok, it just wont let me program it again :(
@@stevefox3763 maybe the steps for resetting and changing band are not the same as the 6900 , I’m not familiar with your model. Maybe try posting on the 6900 Facebook group and maybe someone knows what’s going on.
@@G5STU They are the same, well at least factory reset is as its in the manual, band change is not mentioned but i assume its the same and it does appear to sort of try and enter the band change mode but crashes :(
Uk fm (muppets) on A then the rest above, if you download the app and the .dat file you will be able to see the full list even without the programming cable.

Hi where do I get the uk cb channel file?
The Facebook page , it’s in the video :)
I have a 6900n but do not get what you say should show. What I get is 268nd ( the bottom part of the 8 does not show and looks like a capital A)
Hi
I have this radio, it came with just the 3.5mm audio Jack download cable, any idea what the other section is to plug it into ??
Many thanks.
ok so a b c d e have different "sets" on so what is the fm am usb etc for? im confused. would uk 40 on usb be the same as on fm? or am? help!!
It’s up to the operator to set the correct mode, uk fm is not the same frequencies as the SSB frequencies , I don’t believe AM is permitted on uk CB.

hello I could maybe get the program datri from you to play it with me suf
so this radio is a amateur ham radio not a CB radio do you need a license to use this ?
It not a type approved CB but does work on CB bands , if you use it on the ham bands then yes you need a ham licence.

All I can say is make sure he radio is set to the right mode. Try a factory reset, then set to wide band then try to write the data.
