  • Alterra Mountain Company's planned development for Squaw Valley, with acres of highrise condo/hotels and an indoor waterpark, would further threaten evacuation routes in times of emergency throughout the North Lake Tahoe/Truckee region, especially from fire.
Placer County's own environmental review estimates it would take more than TEN HOURS to evacuate Squaw Valley-just to get to Highway 89.
That’s not planning for disaster; it’s planning a disaster.
The name of Squaw Valley might change, but Alterra's development proposal remains the same.

This is one of those live next to an airport and complain about planes situations. Also you show winter traffic in your gridlock example... do fires occur in winter? I've never seen anything close to that kind of traffic in the summer.

Are you saying that you wouldn’t have an issue if someone tried to build an airport next to your house? Look at what happened during the Caldor fire this year and tell me there’s no traffic.
