As much as people hated these RE games (excluding 4), I'm happy they got an HD remake and got some love for fans like me who enjoyed these games. Sure they weren't the scary things retro fans want, but damn was it addicting to mow through hordes of zombies in mercenaries with a friend for hours on tons of maps with a variety of characters. Even had extra bonus modes. Hate me if you want guys, but simply mowing down zombies as a badass survivor, most zombie games today don't do that like 5 & 6 did. That's just me

I do believe that the combat is very diverse and fun. It never got tiring to me defeating enemies. The story is mid for sure, but the combat is a huge Carry. This game doesn't play like shit at all, I love the movement in it. It's extremely satisfying.
What I love is how great this game looks when you watch a good player and then it feels like the worst game in the world when you try yourself. I'm revisiting it in hopes of reaching a point where I enjoy it as much as 5, or at least just enjoy it, really. The development process did this game no favours, but I think the deep mechanics that are in there somewhere can elevate what I thought on release was worthless tripe. So much of it just feels unpolished and not tight, but maybe with enough practise I'll start to like it more. I think Mercenaries looks more enjoyable, with none of the stupid forced camera stuff and with more open areas (the camera and controls are horrible in the main campaigns, I think largely because they're not suited for the closed-in environments that seem to make up most of the game).
I was revisiting this video and god it looks uglier than what I remembered 😂 the moment looks cool but I remember it being so clunky when I actually played
@@John-mm2yl Honestly, I really came round to RE6. Played it a lot with my girlfriend and looked up tutorials on, essentially, how to enjoy it, and it worked out quite well. It's still a really flawed game, but there's a lot of good stuff in it, and Mercenaries strips away almost everything bad about it, so that mode is really fun. It doesn't really seem to feel as natural to work up to extremely high-level play in 6 the way it does in RE4 and 5, so we didn't, but overall we still enjoyed ourselves a fair bit.
@@high440 I hate the sprint camera in RE6, yeah. But I don't like first-person, either, so I just tolerate it in RE7 and 8. I think they could have come up with something like the camera in the RE2 remake earlier if they'd wanted. I think they went first-person for RE7 because games like Outlast were getting popular and there was a dearth of horror games outside of those (in no small part thanks to Capcom deciding earlier that horror didn't sell anymore and moving RE into the action genre for a few games).
In my opinion, Resident Evil 6 has a better story and gameplay but Resident Evil 5 has better character development. I prefer Resident Evil 6 over 5 mainly because the gameplay itself is so much smoother in my opinion.

This game was fucking cool, at least insofar as gameplay and enemy design goes. Mercenaries mode shows both of them off to their fullest extent, and it's fun as hell. As a result though, it's the only part of the game worth even touching. So much wasted potential.
good video but ... wtf happened to resident evil :( dat music ... i remember the creepy, dark and depresing ost in the old games ... damn i miss those slow rotten moaning zombies :C
Lol I know, they long moved from survival horror to gun slinging action. Its a shame because I don't even remember when it transitioned to the casual style gameplay, it was an unwelcome change among long time fans. I guess I can see how slow zombies aren't very scary anymore, but these fast mutant things are a poor replacement.
MrDefault08 Resident Evil was never meant to be scary. It was meant to be a survival horror, emphasis on "survival". The classic RE games were nothing but Silent Hill games with the Zombie Apocalypse theme. Resident Evil 4 started to put more focus on action than survival horror, RE5 was full action, Revelations got back to survival horror, RE6 joined both (it even brought the classic zombies back) but everyone hated it, and now there's Revelations 2, which is back to survival horror. You probably didn't played Revelations 2 if you say that it feels like RE6. Actually, the only similarities that Rev2 has with RE6 (besides graphics) are the Raid Mode's maps and your ability to sprint.
Well, RE7 is constantly advertising that it will be a return back to true horror and the demo definitely showed it, so I think it was meant to be somewhat of a horror franchise. Regardless, 4-6/Rev2 didn't seem in the slightest at the level the franchise was in the early years. The first 3 games(Well, RE3 did) terrified me as a kid. The survival aspect of it is tedious which I reckon is what got RE6 so much hate, the "survival horror" (Leon campaign) was nothing more than zombies and limited ammo, but they still had the gall to throw CTEs and bosses each chapter, which was more frustrating than intense, the latter what I think traditional RE fans really want back. Also, RE1 came before Silent Hill, and imo is what made the survival horror genre the most popular. I do love both games though mind you. That said, you got me, I am actually only halfway through Rev2, but for the most part, I still get a strong RE6 vibe from it in regards to story scheme, gameplay, and boss mechanics. Enemies are designed pretty similar and drop the same as well(vs what I've experienced in 5), but thats my bias as I've never played RE4 and never passed RE5s first chapter so I can only really compare it to RE6. To me, it definitely feels like a better form of RE6, as I'm enjoying the campaign so much more.
It's worth your time. There's a steam sale and it's 7 bucks, absolutely worth it. It's definitely the weakest of the 6 preceding it, but it's really unique. Leon's campaign is really overstimulating which threw people off, I don't recommend doing his first. If you miss the sale you can find this game cheap cheap, and it's very meditative playing mercenaries because it's so different. It plays the best but there's a learning curve, you have a LOT of options. The online features were ahead of their time too, this game has a lot of great co-op in it. Try Agent Hunt too, it's goofy but it's a good time.
I think RE6 would have been way better in first person, as it was quite Call of Duty-like, while on the other hand, RE7 proofed that this franchise can do well with such gameplay.
Johan The Unknown first person would have destroyed the game like it did with re7. Re7 was the worst re part they have ever made no og characters the story was shit and lots more. Hope they won't ever do shit like re7 again but sadly they will. Re6 wasn't a great game for sure but still it felt like re because of the og characters
Remoulade However, I merely referred to its gameplay, not the characters nor the story. All I said was: first person’s better, just like COD’s zombie mode. But that’s just my personal viewpoint; not saying it’s a fact.
Johan The Unknown I don't think so imo it would destroy the game for sure as re7 did. Resident evil isn't outlast COD or any other game I don't get the point making it similar to these bullshit games (cod is awesome but the zombie mode is awful except for the first black ops zombie mode). I love re the way it is and I hate first person i don't really feel connected to the character I play with it's more like "ok I'm playing a random guy" imo of course maybe you liked zombies in cod or outlast or other games similar to them

I love re the way it is and I hate first person i don't really feel connected to the character I play with it's more like "ok I'm playing a random guy" imo of course maybe you liked zombies in cod or outlast or other games similar to them
Extremely surrealistic gameplay
Thank u lol!!!!!

And people hated this game? I'll never understand....
Man,how much skill point you get from doing this?
