In my experience, that one hand thrust from Doug is easy to see coming, but hard to punish because you HAVE to deal with it, but he'll be too far away for any return strike (if he throws it from long measure).

Look into turmeric and black pepper (piperine) and wild Mexican yams. (Progesterone converts to DHEA “the youth hormone”. Hope this helps and love your content!

Interesting. I know tumeric is recommended

@@Apperceptive_Swordsman turmeric is awesome but not very bio available. The piperine makes the micro phyto nutrients more absorbable. It’s super helpful for brain health too. Learned that from Rhonda Patrick, woman is brilliant.

Glad you're getting back in the saddle 🤘 I'm really curious about the Viking combat you do. I remember you saying that you exclude the head as a target? Seems to me the head is the prime target, especially in sword and shield based fencing. So I can't help but wonder, why? I guess not everyone can afford a fencing mask? Perfectly understandable if that's the case. You want to get as many people as possible to spar with, so gear limitations are always a consideration. I can't think of another reason. Maybe there is one I just haven't thought of. Just curious.

There's several reasons. It teaches discipline and forces you to work for deeper targets. In a historical setting, the head would be likely be covered by a helmet that couldn't be cut by a sword, while armor might not always be worn on the body. But that's just one sparring method. We do wear helmets and fight full contact at times!

@@Apperceptive_Swordsmanoh of course, that makes perfect sense. My understanding is that early in the Viking Era even helmets were very rare. The Viking Era was relatively short, but it was still about 300ish years. So earlier on there was next to no armor and later on they had relatively heavy armor with plate helmets, mail hauberks, mail mittens ect. Who knows though, I have a vendel helmet with a Camail so maybe it was a lot more available earlier than we think. I have so many thoughts on the subject. I would love to see a video of the full contact.

@sinisterswordsman25 I don't make up the training methods. I do find them useful though! And maybe one day I'll share some more of that sparring!

@@Apperceptive_Swordsman Hell ya man 🤘 Please do. Like I said it makes perfect sense to me. We kinda have to assume they wore helmets and armor because it worked really well like 99% of the time. Maybe sometimes after repeated blows or because it was made of relatively soft "dirty" metal a good high quality sword could cut through helmets and mail. But who knows? Definitely not me lol. Its just fun to speculate about. I would love to see your thoughts and philosophy on the subject.
