I don’t get the half grassland Petra. I can honestly say I’ve lost Petra on Deity Ai maybe 2 times with a city with only desert in all three city rings. All it takes is a couple of good trade routes.

Etemenanki and the Pantheon that gives Marsh +2 production is very fun when you have enough tiles and can pull it off. Pop skyrockets with the production/science to support. Just had both in a multiplayer game with friends.
I just had a deity game as Germany on huge Primordial map, where I had an insane amount of marsh tiles not just around my capital, but for my next 6 cities or so too, and I somehow managed to get Etemenanki too (+ Lady of Reeds and Marshes). Felt weird being 3rd in science right from the beginning and becoming 1st very quickly too.
I'm not gonna lie, with all those marsh tiles, I was about to rage click off the video when you initially didn't get the marsh pantheon and start building Etemenanki lol glad you came to your senses.

The Maya bonuses feel so harsh, compared to others. All their civ bonuses have, imo, harsh requirements or harsh penalties. And civ6 is just not really a civ game that rewards tall play.
why don't you use Barbarian Camps and Monopolies game modes? This just makes game better (in my opinion) without any downsides. As not everyone uses secret societies, heroes and other less popular because of AI using them and making game more micromanageble with choosing which secret society or hero, but these aren't the problem in Barbarians and Monopolies I think. Maybe I miss something then please correct me
There's a minimum amount of turns that trade routes must go for. I don't remember that number (I'm sure it is an easy google though), but let's pretend it is 24. If it is a 5 tile trade route, then it is 10 turns there and back. It has not been 24 turns, so it will repeat the trade route. Now it's been 20 turns, but that is still not long enough. It will repeat the trade route. Now it has been 30 rounds, exceeding the minimum, so the trade route is complete and you are able to select a new route for that trader.
Getting a coastal start with Maya is bad. Getting a coastal+desert is bad in general. Getting a coastal Maya start while sandwiched between desert and tundra has to be one of the worst starts of all time.
In your recent B-Day stream, you got asked what the weakest Civ currently is... I'd say the Maya are a top contender for that title... They don't really seem to have real advantages, they're just slightly "different". Minimal advantages for close cities, but countered by disadvantages for further away ones, lack of fresh water from rivers but better farms,... the UU is a nice start, but immediately obsolete. The Observatory, again, isn't better than the Campus, it's just different. It being half the cost is its only significant plus. I hope you'll prove me wrong with this (though you can beat the AI easily with whatever civ!), but when settling on the traits of the Maya, I feel like the dev team thought "let's just make one meh cannon fodder civ to make the other ones look better by comparison, and call it a day!" ;)

Btw, regarding Etemenanki - it is missing in the World Wonders tier list video as it have been done before Maya pack introduction (same for Paitity for Natural Wonders tier list and Hulche for Unique units etc.), i'd suggest to redone or at least extend those 3 tier list videos with all the missing items
Also, a fun fact - your capital city is located in such way, that you could build all 4 'Petras" - marsh (Etemenanki), desert(Petra), tundra(St. Basil's) and water(Mausoleum) and all of them will improve 2-3 tiles around it so will be +/- okay
Hmm...Maya sounds like it wants to settle inland and then surround that central core of the capital with all its cities. You don't want to spread too wide to avoid the penalty, and there's no extra benefits for settling your capital on the coast. Something like a spoke and wheel look. Though I guess the quality of terrain tiles really does dictate it more.

Just played a Maya game and I had the perfect map to fit in like 9 cities within 6 tiles of my capital, I had to kill 2 city states i rly liked which was a shame but a small price to pay for wide Maya 😎
Even though it would take ages to build, why not have the Petra in another city east of Copan? The AI barely ever builds it, so you could just leave it for a while or boost with trading or something? Only thinking that because you have little land. Also is there land out west of your capital?

I do somewhat disagree with your assessment about moving with her. I've moved 5+ turns to get the pattern i want. it's free builders...more than makes up for the time. but there was no where you really move here that fixes anything so..
I can't help thinking that Pingala or Liang would have been superior. Also, I think the real reason to nearly always pick Republic govt first is the legacy card, which I think is worth mentioning.

I find that Etemenanki is one of those wonders that the AI either rushes or never gets at all, like the Apadana or the Hanging Gardens
