In all of these cities the highest achieving black people leave and go to the typical cities (Atlanta, DC, Houston, etc.) or other metros. This brings down the median income, employment rate, and education level significantly.
This has a lot to do with it. I live in area #2 and there are still parts of the area with a substantial to predominantly black population that are middle class and with average to high educational attainment(look up the 13224 zip code for an example). The city proper is about 30-35% black. Also, something that didn’t likely get considered is that an area like Syracuse gets a lot of African refugees due to being a refugee resettlement city/area and it has a big college presence. With the latter, off campus college student actually add to lower incomes and poverty rates. So, that is something else to consider. Similar for Rochester, which also has areas with substantial to predominantly black populations that are middle class(look up zip code 14619). The city proper is 40-44% black. So, it comes down to knowing where to go in most of these areas. Also, cost of living is actually pretty low in most of these areas and likely plays a part in some of this as well.
I don’t know what happened to my post, but it was in agreement with this statement and mentioned other nuances that play a part in the list like refugee resettlement in some of these places(meaning that it takes time to get established), that many of these areas still have middle class areas with a substantial to predominantly black population and some have a college presence that can skew income numbers due to off campus students not making much money and contribute to the economic numbers. So, there is still some nuance when dealing with these cities/areas.
Milwaukee usually ranks at the top for most segregated cities and worst in healthcare for black people. its a common theme with alot of Rustbelt cities, some of them have put an effort to try and reverse these issues and acknowledge it like Columbus, but Milwaukee puts the least amount of effort into this issue.

Military areas tend to have relatively higher black median household incomes and offer potential for black entrepreneurs to circulate that black military income. Especially in areas where there is a visible black population that could be served. Places like Watertown NY, Anchorage and Fairbanks AK; etc.

The huge wealth gap keeps us on the move, hunting for opportunity and acceptance. 400 year behind in a race we were not expected to survive. Bill Clinton and NAFTA broke the Northern cities manufacturing and production once in for all. The car industry was the hay day in the Midwest. Milwaukee is next to Chicago in the running for the most segregated city in America. Pittsburgh and Ohio cities have always been racist. 1973 Gen X who is thankful my parents stayed in Mississippi, which allowed me to attend a HBCU. Living Colorado the last 10 years has been a blessing. Our family always travelled during summer vacations to Chicago, Ohio, and Detroit. I found it odd that relatives did really venture or go to the tourist areas, ball games, or main attractions in the city. Just seemed like they lived even more segregated than down south. Not to mention never wanting to visit or relatives who had moved to the suburbs like in Chicago.
With probably the exception of #7 and #3, interestingly most of these are “Great Migration” cities of the 30s-60s. It’s all economics and public policy, the generations who moved from the south escaping Jim Crow/Segregation/economic disparities - did not wholesale move or recenter once those economic opportunities dried up, moved out, or evolved … and maybe slow to react to the public policies that impacted them the most.
I’m born and raised in Pittsburgh, left at 17 for the military. I spent 6yrs in California and 23 in Atlanta. I visit, but won’t move back. All your comments are correct.
Washington DC,/ prince George county Maryland/ Charles county Virginia/ and Atlanta Georgia Fulton county has the richest most educated blacks in America 🎉
All black wealth is in the USA black south , so it makes sense why the north east, Midwest/ west coast are tragic for black America, black American millennial/gen-Z who live outside the south must reverse migrate back south (Louisiana, Mississippi,Alabama,Georgia, south & North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware $
I 100 percent agree with you. I live in San Francisco and I have an adult daughter who attends a HBCU in the south. We are encouraging her to stay in the south. Upon graduation this year, she is moving to metro Atlanta. Your comment is spot on
To be honest, it is really about select Southern metros. Even then, there is still issues with cost of living creeping relatively speaking and some quality of life issues may be creep up in some areas. Let alone that incomes tend to be lower in the South and may actually play a part in terms of the lower black median household income on a national level. I say this as a person that lives in area #2, but has parents originally from MS and SC, as well as siblings in the Charlotte and Tidewater areas, with a military stint in the Augusta GA area.

I want to move away from Philadelphia, PA because most of the jobs are low paying and having a useful degree doesn't seem to matter.
Columbus is a good place for Black women especially those with the education and job experience.
Can you tell us anything about Tulsa and Oklahoma City, OK?
I was holding my breath hoping you wouldn’t include Detroit
Is Atlanta overrated?
It's accurate and that is really sad ! 😢 M
Mississippi Delta didn’t make the list
Nope. The area actually has higher median income than we thought
They're calling it the second great migration
@@OhDatsJaVion The pay is lower down south my husband and I were trying to relocate to NC from Mn.
Are you really sure about that??? There place is more poorer than the places up North.
we're doing good in Houston
Houston ain't bad
I was shocked that Detroit wasn’t on the list, even though it is trying to get better.
Detroit has a substantial middle class blacks in the suburbs
Shoot I'm about to attend the University of Akron this coming January
Best of luck, you got this!
@@BlackExcellenceMedia Thank you so much. I really appreciate your kind words.
What is a financial city?
At least my hometown Cincinnati did not make the list
Haha might be the only big city in Ohio off the bad list
@@BlackExcellenceMediaColumbus and Dayton as well. Surprised that Youngstown wasn’t on the list. To be fair, the eastern suburbs of Cleveland actually has a pretty substantial black middle class.
IM IN NEW YORK CITY...black people are leaving...there cant pay rent
Let's not talk about housing prices in big cities, it's crazy!
St Louis Missouri sucks period i hate it here
The whole midwest has major issues
The other one is some semi-famous writers say "move back to the South..." So you are saying Mississippi and Alabama are not that bad as places for black people to live?
Damn why break up Cleveland and Akron also people wonder why I say I love Cleveland but I would never move back it’s not a place to thrive, get your degree or trade and leave
Cleveland is terrible for blacks and whites , the whole city got a dark cloud over it
I been to Cleveland once… ONCE!! I can see why they broke.
The crime rate is getting worse too
Yes, here in Ohio is LITERALLY the worst. Akron literally put out that racism is now a mental health crisis. It’s pitiful
people love to site the racist bogus statistics 😂😂😂
I'm mad my state is in the thumbnail 😭
😂😂😭 sorry! You know your state bad
Black and living in Ohio… i’m crying lol and yes i’m broke don’t ask why
😭 Ohio, the 3x offender
🤲🏿💵
Black and from Ohio. I often try to explain that black people in Ohio don't own ANYTHING, but others think I'm exaggerating.
@@40yearoldman
I've seen a lot of suburban blacks in Cincinnati Columbus Youngstown. Even the town that he mentioned, which was on the number 1Worst place list Toledo Ohio. I've seen a lot of those folks have quite a bit of stuff.
Without even watching the video, I'll say THE WORST: 1) Baltimore 2) Detroit 3) Gary, Indiana 4) Liberty City, Florida 5) Oakland, Calif. 6) Milwaukee 7) Cleveland, Ohio 8) Memphis, TN 9) St. Louis, MO 10) Ferguson, MO
Ferguson Mo is north county st.louis
This video is only 8 minutes long. A subject like this only took 8 minutes to explain? You would think that a subject like this would takes more in depth explanation and research from “Black Excellence”. Thanks for the video, anyway.
Of course this is a massive issue to explore. This is just looking at the listing of the cities and quick starts. Don't worry, there will be lots of videos with deep dives
I live in milwaukee
The cities are great for rental properties black family
Our areas are the same the world over where we reside next to our oppressor- get it ? It’s statistically impossible for our neighborhoods to all look the same. African Americans officially make 53 cents to the dollar of that of non- AA regardless of skills or education !! This is why you can easily make this video but will be hard pressed to make one outside of PG county where government contracts flow. It’s simple, strong political representation taking access to our share of tax dollars and ending wage theft is the key 🔑
Go Marcus Garvey go !
I'm originally from Brooklyn now living in the twin cities where having a car can be more valuable than a college degree African blacks really don't mix with american blacks plus they don't act too Americanized most africans are smart out here the majority of them 2 parent households living in the suburbs.
Sad the two groups don't mingle much.
I would like to know how they voted in the last election
damn Ohio whats really going on
Charleston sc 😢😢😢😢😢 Anchorage Al😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 Westvirginia😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 they have the same problème
You mean to tell me that there is actual black people that actually live in Scranton Pennsylvania ?🤯🤭 Are there any black people that actually live in Pottsville Pennsylvania as well😏🤯🤭 ?
Apparently
This dude is slick shaming ppl.
And his ass don't look or talk wealthy at all so what's his point?
He posed no solutions. Just talkin bout look at these broke black folk. Smh.
I thumbed down this bs just on gp.
UPLIFT. DON'T DOWNGRADE, 'my brotha.'
If you have watched our other videos, you know we always uplift and provide informational content. We don't shame anybody. What you might have misunderstood is the joking tone this video has. This video is purely informational as a lot of our views find this content interesting, to see where our community is not doing well financially. Then we can ask why and talk about solitons. Those take multiple videos.
@BlackExcellenceMedia then lead with that. Asking WHY..Again, you posed no reasons or solutions. Just a black boy calling black folks broke. Really? If i have seen your other videos, I wouldn't know. If they're anything like this one - an erkel on a pseudo-sociotific rant all by himself - I probably didn't.
Anyway, this was very off-putting and borderline offensive to Black People who are from those cities.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, although I'm certain I'm the only one confident enough to express my sentiments.
......now watch TH-cam take down my comments. Or your channel request that they do..
