      You may never see this, however if you did want to try the glove thing some time, make sure you use a tiny amount of beeswax, it’ll help it peel off, a quick wash and it’ll be good to go. I use that quite a bit when creating a resin mold out of green stuff or that one Japanese toy, what ever it’s called so it comes out easier lol.

    It is great to hear that Jay has had a lot of fun working on his titan. Most Forge World construction videos tend to dwell on what a mammoth chore these projects are; so it is nice to see someone having a positive experience. May Jay have many a happy time stomping on Shaun's Imperial Guard Parking Lot with this God-engine bad boy.

    Warm the resin in a warm water bath and stir super slowly if you don’t have a pressure pot. Syringes work well for measuring too btw. Jet lighter or heat guns work better for bubbles.

    My favorite life hack for doing "water effects" on bases, or at least making the ground look wet.
    Do a regular base, use an ultra matt varnish, then put a gloss varnish ONLY IN RECESSES. Takes a bit of time, but it will look like water pooling in various dips in the ground.

  • @apinakapinastorba
    @apinakapinastorba ปีที่แล้ว +17

    I'm relieved the resin on your gloves was thin enough, so it didn't burn you with the heat from the chemical reaction when you blasted it with the UV light.

  • @Captinsaneo
    @Captinsaneo ปีที่แล้ว +38

    Maybe put some ripples in the other body of water near the titans foot that is firmly on the ground. I'd have the ripples moving away from the foot to imply that the ground shakes each time the titan's feet hit the ground. This would bring the diorama to life even more :)

    if you want to tint resin, a little bit of acrylic ink/paint isnt going to hurt it too much. However, you were spot on with the 'oil and water' thing, you shouldn't really mix them. For the blood, next time you can try resin specific dyes, or even oil paints.
    Also, use some of that gloss varnish in the boot prints, as those turn into mini pools!

    Those bubbles in the resin would actually be really good for muddy water, muddy water will usually foam up at the top when stirred so the bubbles would give it that dirty foam effect

  • @TallDarknGruesome
    @TallDarknGruesome ปีที่แล้ว

    for anyone else with bubble in resin problems - the answer is to pull a vacuum.
    The bubbles expand and rise to the surface faster.
    Since most hobbyists wont have a vacuum chamber unless you work with resin a lot, you can rig one out of a large container, a shopvac and a lid that can be fully sealed down.
    you wont get a full vacuum, but it will pull a lot out of these small batches.

    So what I've recently done is used only the UV resin, but tinted it with dry pastel powders. I've noticed that while mixing other liquids with the resin confounds setting, solid pigment doesn't, yet still looks like a running liquid.

  • @stuartfields9177
    @stuartfields9177 ปีที่แล้ว

    I find that using heavily crumpled kitchen baking paper with UV resin works a treat to give you ripples and random pieces of interesting resin to apply to models. Also, please show the completed titan in a battle report so we can see it wrecking everything!

  • @freyjaslittlejeeps1602
    @freyjaslittlejeeps1602 ปีที่แล้ว

    You need a cheap scale for measuring both parts of the resin, and it may be easier to add the ink/pigment/etc. to one part before mixing them. The casting resin I use just dies horribly if I tint it after mixing, but adding it to one half (I think it's the resin) and mixing, then adding the second part and mixing again.

    I work with epoxy resin for a living, the part B is always thicker than the part A, so you were right about why your measurement was off. Also for future epoxy resin pour's, you should measure your mixture's by weight on a small scale, or you can just get some small plastic measuring cups from Home Depot or paint supply store's for relatively cheap to ensure your measurement's are correct. As for the bubble's, like other's have mentioned, you can use a hot water bath, or a small torch to pop em. Look's wicked though 👍

    I'm sure it's been said already, but I'm not weeding through comments to look, but...
    Look into a small vacuum chamber setup if you're planning to use resins. There are a ton of videos of it on TH-cam and the setup is not terribly expensive to source. Use fairly large containers for the resin, as they swell a ton as the air escapes, otherwise you're in for a huge mess.
