Hi mate, awesome review - those are truly luxurious coaches, and I've always loved the lights too! Your lighting was great for the video as well!
    Cheers,
    Sam :)

I'm so glad I purchased my ones early on when Hornby introduced them to there rang. As you said they are getting a little pricey now. now I have them along with the LNER Teak stock too, I can put a more realistic train together, if you can get them for a good price do so.
    Happy Modelling,
    Phil

Great video LNERFAN4472 i want to get 2 or 3 coaches for my Mallard. Do they light up like yours on DC aswell? Also do you know when they are stopping production?? Thank you :) :)

They do light up on DC when there's enough current going through the track. When the train is standing still, the lights will be out

I have this Pullman coach and others. Granted these are the best in detail and interiors with illuminated table lamps. However, the gold paint used on the line work and lettering is just poorly conceived and poorly implemented. I will tell you why. As in this video, you can see the gold paint is too reflective. When you view the coach from oblique angles and under some light conditions the lettering, scrollwork and linework will just disappear. The PULLMAN lettering has so much going on with shadowing and various color shades it become illegible. The graphic artist never sampled out and properly reviewed the type of paint prior to producing and reproducing these Pullman models. Hobbyists and collectors want to be able to see all the graphics and lettering in low light conditions and bright spot conditions and from every viewing angle, but the idiots at Hornby never got it right.

There a lovely coach, but I do have one problem, coming off a curved section onto a point sometimes I have a derailment.Noticed on these particular coaches there's not a lot of free movement on the bogies, unlike the other coaches I have.Any ideas.Richard

The ones that ran in 30s had white roofs and in the 50s or 60s they changed them to grey roofs. They also changed the lettering on the side and the crests each end.

I have been tempted at times by the Pullman coaches but when you consider that you can get a loco for the same price as 2 coaches the loco always wins.

Steam in the North West But then you end up with no rolling stock to pull! Trust me they are worth the investment!

I have the Hornby Pullman coaches that came with my train set as I'm just starting out but the little table lamps do not light. Pointless when you can't get the lamps to fit them yourself. I'd rather see Hornby only making Pullman coaches with working lights and doing away with the non working ones because now I think they just look stupid. I was thinking of putting in strip LEDs but that thought lasted half a second when I remembered the lights have to come from the lamp, not the ceiling. So now I can't even fit lights of any kind. So, I'm left with stupid looking coaches that are out of place! They will be sitting unused as soon as I can get different coaches that make sense.
