Eli, rhymes with jelly, short for Eliezer. They did have a high tenor, Earl, who left for personal reasons in 2020. Voiceplay is always telling a story, even if they don't show it on screen. They did The Way You Make Me Feel just before this one. I didn't know how they could surpass it, but they did. Every thing they do is fantastic. Ashley has done several pieces with them. The first was If I Was A Rich Man, then We Don't Talk About Bruno, and Running Up That Hill.
Ohh, that explains a lot! I guess I’ll have to look out for the stories the next time I listen to them. Also, thanks for the tip about Ashley! I’m going to have to give those songs a listen! Have a nice day!
It pays to be a patron. We get to see all the behind-the-scenes shinanagins. This is in the Oviedo Mall where Layne and Tony's PattyCake Productions studio is. They rented the space. You need to get caught up on VoicePlay and Geoff videos. They have a few videos with Spanish lyrics.
I'm am so glad to have you back. VoicePlay and Geoff have both released several great songs since you last did a reaction. I love your reactions. Welcome back hope to see more of your reactions.
I’m so glad you enjoy them! And yeah, I was out for about a month or so with a head injury about 10 months ago, and as a result, had to heavily prioritize work in order to keep up with everything. I’m glad to be back with reactions, and especially glad to be reacting to voiceplay + friends!
The Spanish lyrics they used here came from a translated version that's popular in Puerto Rico. Apart from We're Good, which was Cesar's debut with the group as a guest artist before he officially joined, they've also done a couple of shorts that incorporated some Spanish: Feliz Navidad, in which they were joined by his brother Cesar Augusto, and a very beautiful cover of Remember Me from the movie Coco, featuring J.None. Checking out your channel, I see you haven't posted reactions to some of their most unforgettable covers: Nothing Else Matters, Valhalla Calling, Hoist the Colours, We Don't Talk About Bruno (another Ashley tune,) Seven Nation Army and Creep...if there's any of those you haven't seen, I highly recommend them all!
Very cool! Thanks for sharing! I'll have to check out those TH-cam Shorts As for the not reacting to those songs, I've hesitated a bit on reacting to those, since I've listened to them already. I may still do a reaction to it, but another idea I've been messing around with is the idea of inviting a friend who hasn't ever heard of Voiceplay to have a cameo on the channel, and do a dual-reaction. Thanks for the comment :)
Previously all the videos were headed by Layne of Geoff. But now Eli is taking his share of heading the production. It’s his concept. He had Rob Deitz do the arranging, but Eli directed. He also filmed the ‘story’ on a hand held camera. He had Cesar do the costuming. I feel like this was a wonderful, heartfelt concept. By the way, although this song was made famous by Bonnie Tylor, there was also a very popular rendition in Spanish as a duet. Of course, the words aren’t a direct translation, but they still hold the same feelings. And since Cesar and Ashley are bilingual, it’s perfect for them. Welcome back. I think bringing in a friend to cover more Voiceplay would be great!
@@Wildecat10 I’m so glad you liked it! I’m curious, who is Rob Deitz? Is that someone I should know in the world of Voiceplay? 🤔 Also, thanks so much for the song context!
@@FluffyPlaysGamez He’s an arranger that they got to know when they were on the Sing-Off. He arranges for many acapella groups. He’s done a lot of their minis, but only recently started doing more on their longer videos. Whichever member is in charge will give him a good idea of how they want it to sound. Sometimes they will make a lot of ‘tweaks’ to the arrangement, so it will have his name and one of theirs. They always give full credit in the description of their videos so you can see who has worked on it and what roles they play.
Isn’t it funny that I only knew the same part of the song as well 😂 I like that you can tell this is a first reaction without off-screen research because Fluffy kept asking questions. It’s really raw and allows viewers to engage in comments Brilliant! Awww Fluffy looked so proud of himself when he guessed the setup correctly Loving the mullet-look btw, had been looking forward to it 😂
I’m glad you liked it! And yeah- I like to think it makes it more fun if I don’t heavily research the song first. Makes it so that more can be learned on all sides! 😁 And I haven’t yet decided wether or not I like the mullet- we’ll see if I keep it 😂
Ashley is a good friend of Cesar's both coming from Puerto Rico. She has appeared with VP a number of times.. The song was made originally back in the 80s by Bonnie Tyler. And yes, patrons know a lot :) It's Eli. (said as ellie) short for Eliezer. OH boy, you've missed a lot in ten months. :) Cesar first showed us his Spanish in We're Good. This song was not biligual originally. They have added that. See Ashley showing off in If I Were A Rich Man/Girl. And Cesar singing more Spanish in We're Good.
It’s so good to see your comment! I actually was scrolling through my notifications when I saw your comment, and recognized your profile from a previous video! I know I have a lot of Voiceplay to catch up on, but I’m excited to start going through it! Also, it’s so cool to see them incorporating Spanish into their songs 😁 I’ll have to check out those other ones!
I enjoyed your reaction! Ashley was in We Don't Talk about Bruno as well as If I Were a Rich Man/Girl. Great talent. Others have said that the was Eli. Earl was a member before Cesar joined. Not sure if it's your style - but In The Hall of The Mountain King and the sequel Classical Chaos are great story songs with no words - so you gotta pay attention.
Both Ashley and Cesar started life in Puerto Rico before they moved to Florida. They've been friends for years. If you like to hear more of Ashley try VoicePlay's We Don't Talk About Bruno (Encanto), If I Was A Rich Man/Girl (Fiddler on the Roof), Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush/Stranger Things), some minis/shorts - Shero Reacts (PUBG), Time Warp (Rocky Horror Picture Show), River (Bishop Briggs), Your Turn to Role (Critical Role), Como La Flor (Selena), Super Mario 2 Theme, Surface Pressure (Encanto), The Pink Panther Theme, Sonic the Hedgehog, and before VoicePlay did the one we just watched, they did a short with Ashley.
Fun reaction. You picked up on the story immediately and it was fun watching you predict!😄
I’m glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the comment ❤️
