Im working towards challenges during the middle of the game currently, or leveling up weapons.
The SBMM/EOMM will ruin BO6, just like in MW3 (don't pre-order it) Back in February, when the MW3 servers crashed and SBMM was temporarily disabled, it was the BEST games I've had in a CoD in at least 10 years.
There was no Try Hard, no sweaty CDL/Ranked on 500 mg of caffeine, no "Bunny-hop/jump-shot", no Cancel-slide every second and no game full Meta "MCW + Stricker 9"...
And we could make Drone Swarms or even Nukes in each game.
And as soon as they restored the SBMM, it was again a HORROR to play, disgusting (with a K/D of 3.72 like mine, I guarantee that every "normal" multi game "Moshpit 10 vs 10" is polluted by Ranked under cockain + full cheater)
I’m not a cod player anymore, but the 2 things we need are a mastery camo grind, and to let us put camos over skins, or else there’s no reason to buy skins or grind camos vice versa

XDefiant, to my knowledge at least, started as a game that would be made by old COD developers and meant to be a competitor of COD. Instead now at release we got a class-based arena shooter which has more in common with Halo and Overwatch, so basicaly a completely different path. No biggie though, those can still be fun, but then you get into the game and you realise the hit registration is poor, bunny hopping is quite prevalent (a thing fixed on COD like 2 years ago with the whole slide cancelling bit).
It is definitely kinda fun, but just as COD in my case it manages to be fun for just about 2 matches until you lose your mind with all the flaws of the game and you decide to close it until you need another small dose of FPS games.
Also, maybe unpopular opinion, but I can't believe they dumbed down the camo grind to just "earn XP". Don't get me wrong, in the old days of COD it was basically like a second job to try and grind camos. They fixed that with the MW2 remake where everything got streamlined to having to do like 30 kills under certain small conditions like using a surpresor, or a certain type of rounds like incendiary, and they only refined on that with MW3 odd enough. They got rid of what Joe is complaining about on how you gotta do longshots with weapons that aren't designed for it and what not. Having a "just earn XP" makes it feel like it's reduced to a background thing that you just forget about as opposed to something you work for. I don't think you're going to get better better with a weapon unless you are forced to use it in different ways to learn what the advantages and disadvantages are of said weapon. Just my take.
XDefiant has potential, but they need to fix the bad hit reg and the whole bunny hopping situation (since we like to talk about crutches). Shooting someone and them not dying and me not knowing if it's because my aim was bad or because the hit registration of the game decided to fuck me over isn't fun.
I play Battlefield, COD as well as Xdefiant. I prefer BF and X over COD as you actually have to play as a team to gain the objectives. If you added Killstreaks to X it will break the flow of the game and make it unplayable. COD is basically an individual play style that does absolutely nothing for playing as a team. Activision doesn’t seem to support team game concepts in COD. Plus cod is actually good at mind numbing gameplay that just costs brain cells.
Just been waiting for something good to come along to ditch cod was waiting for GTA 6 but this game is feeling good I'ma OG been playing strictly cod for 15 years and this game is definitely gonna be a competitive option
The only battle royal that would get my attention now a days would be if it was a PvE based one like the one Borderlands 3 got sometime after it's release.
So glad I stopped playing cod a long time ago. I'm still able to recognize a fun game. Xdefiant has been a pleasant surprise, plenty to unlock with some really fun gameplay. Cod can stay cod, xdefiant can stay good.

Well, Dedsec have their grenades replenished as a passive and on escort the cart/robot actually allows you to refill ammo. But making ammo infinite is kinda stupid, it won't work for every game

The issue all these people have is the game actually cares about team composition and play not how many kills you get. They cannot fathom that no one cares that you got 39 kills when you have zero time on objectives. It’s a team based game play like a team or don’t play at all, but they got brain rot and can’t comprehend that fps games can be more than kill streaks and KD ratios.

I like how even the best players die constantly at this game. It shows that killstreaks wouldn’t necessarily matter even at the highest level of gameplay. It’s hard to even stay on a streak sometimes unless you run away and shoot far away for 20 minutes.

I hope you're talking about the multiplayer, cause if you haven't played any other for the campaigns you're missing out. The ending to the modern warfare trilogy was epic. You only played one third of the story. Then there was Black Ops...again good campaigns.

What are they talking about? It's exactly like COD, just old school COD. But this game needs major fixes like bunny hopping and gunplay because i have been experiencing Nerf bullets and many others with low ping
The hit reg is bad. Bhopping needs to be tuned down. The bullets need to leave your head, if you strafe the bullets leave the opposite side of your barrel. AK at least. Snipers need to recieve more flinch too, feels real bad dumping 6 rounds into a guy and they just oneshot you, Though that may change when hit reg is fixed.
Hit reg should be fixed, that's true. But what's the problem with bunny hopping and different movement techniques? Isn't it fun to be much faster than your regular speed? And how you would expect to play with shotguns without being speedy boi who air strafes right into your face with a pack of buckshot? I don't know. And if this game all of the sudden gets Quake 3 movement with strafe jumping I can tell you it will be ten times more fun that it already is.

Yeah Call of Duty is for sure gone down the toilet in the past probably 5 years. I honestly started disliking COD a LOT around the MW 2019 era. Sure, they made the game a bit more realistic I suppose, but they didn't do much to actually improve anything. They made some cool animations but they didn't really add anything meaningful. I'll argue now that Treyarch is the only hope for Call of Duty. Infinity Ward did horrible with MW2 and their multiplayer (The Campaign was decent), that I don't have hope with them or Sledgehammer anymore. XDefiant is truly refreshing, and feels more like oldschool Call of Duty (Gameplay Wise) and I think that's why I like it much more than any COD in the past over half-decade.

The reason for that is that killstreaks were made less accessible with them requiring more kills. The nuke went from 25 kills to 30 kills. UAVs went from 3 to 4 (doesn't seem like a lot on paper but in practice it's noticeable). With the sweatfest that is CoD getting the required kills is harder. If they want people to stop camping they should make said killstreaks more accessible and for said killstreaks to count towards the next like in the old days.
Play about 20 hours so far and now that I think about it, I don't think I've been killed by anyone yet that was just hiding in a corner unless it was because they were sitting on the OBJ. I'm sure some people DO camp, but I haven't seen them lol
Im a cod player but you made a bunch of points that I'm have to agree with. My only complaint about xDefiant is the weapon XP grind being a little too long. But other than that, xDefiant is pretty good
Objectives actually force the team to do objectives. That's why I always played domination in cod. It's just so much better than chaotic deathmatching.

As someone who also put CoD down after MW19, I think the first point has some serious merit that you simply have to address if you aim to occupy some of the space in the FPS genre currently held by CoD. I love XDefiant, I think it's insane that it has taken this long to do the obvious. But I also have to admit that after a game or 5, it becomes rather stale. Killstreaks in CoD are the casual player's minigame. The moment you expect players to throw themselves onto the objective and play to WIN, you lose that casual experience. Battlefield has massive-scale battles within which smaller battles are happening that occupy that minigame experience alongside the vehicles. Titanfall had the Titans. Other FPS games like Valorant or Overwatch don't need this more casual-friendly aspect since they're inherently much more catered to a more competitive audience.
The casual player doesn't care that much about winning. They don't want to feel like all they're working towards is a meaningless win in an unranked game environment. Making winning the only goal also promotes frustration with your teammates (since it's a team game) and general toxicity. The "goals" for gameplay (improving, winning etc.) you describe in this video, and your frustrations with the idea that killstreaks are "crutches" are entirely valid from a competitive viewpoint. But a casual player doesn't care about improving their positioning, or learning how to cycle cooldowns with their team. They want to see big explosions and big kill numbers. They want the dopamine of immediate rewards. You very rightfully point out that no other FPS games have killstreaks, but I also think you very much underestimate the sheer impact that killstreaks have on the fact that CoD remains the titan of FPS games despite being received poorly every single year. I might remind you that CoD only became the cult phenomenon around the time it began to seriously implement killstreaks (case and point: the legendary MW2). Casual players love killstreaks and being rewarded for THEIR plays without feeling like they have to drag an entire team of random players along in a meaningless match without any attached ranking system. That's what makes SBMM so frustrating in the first place! What's beautiful about killstreaks is that it allows every player something of their own to strive for, and getting your streaks feels objectively amazing whether you're winning or losing. It also allows for individual players to have a huge impact on the game. It is another reward for mastering the game. It's satisfaction. For me, while the abilities fill a somewhat similar niche, they don't feel earned since they're on timers.
Saying it's just CoD players being braindead I feel is a little disingenuous given that it's very reasonable feedback and one of THE questions you knew to expect given how much this game is founded in OG CoD gameplay loops.

I play most modern cods, quit for years until Cold War, love MWIII hate Activsion/Microsoft. I love XDefiant as well. Ill never fully put cod down, but its not hard to see all the issues with it and call them out. Love both games, not the companies publishing them.
All I ask for in XDefiant:
Killcams
Better Customization on Weapons (minor ask)
Mastery Skins for Factions
Hit Registration/Hit Marker Fixes
I think it's important to realize thar most cod players are coming from a game where the objective is just a setpiece that only exists to prolong the match and create hotspots for players to fight, rather than a meaningful goal to work towards like every other game.
They are conditioned to believe the objective is an afterthought, and the *main* goal is kills and streaks, so they treat it as such in every game. Every gamemode in cod *is* tdm, no matter how it's dressed up, so they expect xdefient to balance their game the same way. They hate the fact that not only is every gamemode in xdefient not treated like tdm, but there is no tdm
In any shooter, the objective is an afterthought. A Mil-Sim game will have the objective as the priority and killing players a must. X-Defiant looks like a party game with military armaments to complete matches. Team Deathmatch is literally the only mode that works with all the crazy meta moves in COD since you can't hold A,B, or C without the other team at your throats the whole time. COD used to have huge maps like in COD 3. They copied Halo with the arena shooter types of map building and modes in Modern Warfare. X Defiant is an arena shooter and not a Mil-Sim. COD had become an arena shooter with Modern Warfare, but the devs tried so damn hard to make it into a Mil-Sim that they lost a lot of players' trust in doing so. I mainly play Battlefield for the Conquest mode. Even then, it turns into a nightmare when it becomes an arena shooter for one flag and position.

It's like you're playing football, but instead of working with your team to get the ball to the other end of the field, you just tackle as many people as you can and get mad when coach benches you instead of giving you a cookie for every 4 tackles you get. You are a loser. You do not get rewards for playing like a loser. Not in any game other than call of duty. Ironsight also has killstreaks/scorestreaks, but people seem to be forgetting that you have a whole ass ultra that needs to be charged and "worked towards" before you can get it

I’m a cod player lmao but I play OBJ all while going for streaks but my streaks were “support” streaks. I love the team based, OBJ, arcade shooter of xDefiant. Working for the ultimate is enough for me 😂😭 and it’s not too much because not everyone gets their ultimate, you have to get at least 15 kills with obj score earn them. I’m loving this game lol I haven’t felt this way about an fps since bo2 😭
As someone who mostly plays COD Zombies but also like fast paced MP, Xdefiant is amazing the way it is. I hate people camping for streaks in COD. Modern COD fanboys should honestly be institutionalized if they think this game should just adopt everything COD has done. Just because it’s fun in COD doesn’t make it fun in other games. Just let it go, simps.
This game doesn’t need killstreaks, and it doesn’t need perks.
It’s free and prolly going to be the only game in its series. But if they add perks over the course of 5+ years, it’s gonna drown it self in rebalancing; not only that but a good majority of perks wouldn’t be used since only meta perks are typically used.
Not having perks/killstreaks, makes it more easier to the focus on the game itself and quality of the game.
I would actually disagree that the decline was after vanguard. I think the decline was after Black ops 4. And 2019 call of duty was the mark of sbmm which completely destroyed call of duty and when I stopped playing it. I hear a lot of people saying vanguard was good I don't know because like I said I haven't played a call of duty since 2019.
I like cod. Its fun. I did the demascus grind for mw19. Ive played most cods of the last t years. I think mw19 was the last good one. But XD is such a breath of fresh air. Its a game i come back to for fun. The gamplay loop is entertaining. I like xp based camo grinds and super simple and easy to understand daily/Major challenges. The obj of this game is win, get better, repeat. Cod i feel like im working for canos doing particukar things that force unnatural ganeplay going for specific things. XD definitely needs a couple things fixed (connection shit mainly) but i havent played cod, or any other fps sincr it cane out
The logic doesn’t logic. Think about it. If all of call of duty players have been used to SBMM for years now and constantly put in crazy sweaty matches to where your KD remains at 1.0 Then put in XD with no sbmm then theoretically players should have a better casual time playing Xdifiant.
However, there are still some issues with XD that people have legit concerns about.
That does not mean that these players with concerns are straight trash because they don’t know how to play an FPS game.

Furthermore, if you want XD to be as successful as you wanted to be then it’s probably best if people aren’t making videos trashing people that play call of duty saying that they’re trash players because they’ve been “coddled” by sbmm which is the exact opposite of what your argument was before.👀

I love XD but there are a few issues that need to be ironed out along with the fact that there needs to be much more content.
Said in the beginning that community has become so toxic that even when something successful comes along, they’re going to find a way to divide and run off the fanbase and do what they do to people within the community.

Cod players are just so used to having their hand held and getting the monkey-esque dopamine drops from the "+100 xp" "7 Kill streak - Chopper gun earned" they dont understand that the reward (if you need one at all, different kettle of worms) should be that they won and that they hopefully got better whether it being learning how to block spawns, hill rotations, movement techniques or ability usage. I'd list aiming on there but cod players get their hand held there anyway :P
I probably wouldn't like XDefiant due to the fact it looks too much like an hero shooter akin the Battlefield 2042, and I'm just not into that sort of stuff, I'm no fan of Cod but I can see the appeal of a more boots on the ground action that was old Cod games.

Call of Duty is just the Fifa of the FPS genre lol. I gave up on CoD after Cold war came out.
Apparently they need a tactical nuke to be launchable in the game in order to have fun...
i stopped playing call of duty after black ops 3 call of duty is shit now days i dont see it coming back from the dead
same thing with the finals. there's no streaks in that, but you get to the objective and have fun. this is from an also form a former cod guy. also also, ironsight is the only other game I can think of off the top of my head that has streaks.
honestly other than net code I think the game is in a really good spot & im enjoying it a lot

I agree w the killstreak thing a bit, but not necessarily because I wanna use killstreaks (feel like the game is better w/o them) but I’d like to feel some kind of award for getting multiple kills without dying. Maybe they can improve the amount of ults you’ll get throughout the game
Your reward for going on streaks is knowing that you’re probably having good impact on your teams chance to win, unless the kills have nothing to do with the obj or something

As a former cod player i love this game and i literally love almost everthing about it i didnt even realize there was a challenge for unlocking guns i literally unlocked most of them acidentally just by playing the game and trying stuff out its fun i cant say that about cod anymore sadly
I'm a COD fan, and I think XDefiant is just fine, it just needs TDM and FFA as well as a buff on some weapons like the M4, other than that I think it is fine. Brings me back to BO3 because The Cleaner class reminds me of Firebreak, and that's not the only similarity to the BO3 Specialists in XDefiant
Ask those same cod players what did they do in black ops 1 when kill streaks don’t overlap. Did they purposely die just to reset them and have something to “work towards again” or do they continue playing the game

I'm gonna be real, I've been sick of COD since the original MW2 and I was 9th grade back when that game came out in 2009, that was my downhill point.
Well Xdefiants Hot Streak mode is kinda TDM.. and I think its the best. Any fps game should have a TDM imo. Sometimes ur even too tired to play objective and want to just shoot like a maniac.
Players like Apollo are why I say that players hate sbmm because they can't drop 90 bombs all the time

Killstreaks would ruin XDefiant perks I wouldn't mind perks like a perk that makes my footsteps silent like Ninja like only make them silent for you but the enemies can hear them that way it's not too op I hate hearing my own foots steps specially if they sound loud in my headset but please no field upgrades that's just stupid in my opinion the game is good but not perfect 8/10 is my rating for XDefiant another thing I do agree that they should nerf bunny hopping but not nerfed to the ground
The thing is they arnt exactly perks they are abilities, if you think about having killstreaks in overwatch when the game is centered around playing an objective and using your abilities you will see why that doesn't make sense.

COD MP is killed by the players with a 2K/D and a 0.5W/L.
Farming kills in domination and hardpoint rather than playing objective.
If your K/D is higher in Domination than it is in TDM, you’re the reason MP is dead.

I had one that was complaining that he had top kill but was not mpv with barely objectif point. I guess he had those point by running toward the cart by mistake. hehe
While the person MVP had like 2-3k objectif points with positif K/D.

9:40 I am one of these CoD players. And run uav/advanced uav killstreaks. And get the 75/5 you talk about. And while my best so far in Xdefiant is 50/13. Idk why the game is getting hate. It's not CoD. It's not a CoD killer. It's Xdefiant, it has It's issues sure. It's also only been around for what 2 weeks? A "Breath of fresh air" with a lot of potential is where I am at with it.

only two games i can think of with "kill streaks" are Halo 4 and DOOM 2016. Halo 4 back on xbox 360 in ranked mode you would get support package drops after a certain amount of kills. Doom 2016 there are Game modes where you get bonuses for kill streaks. but you arent wrong...
I swear, people don't know how the abilities work in this game and they keep complaining absolutely senselessly. I saw a video from an official Ubisoft partner saying that the intel suit, ghillie, blitz shield and firebomb are OP, when there's clearly a counter for all of those. The intel suit counters the ghillie, the firebomb counters the blitz, and the EMP grenades counter every ability. People are just not using the EMP grenades and whining about others who are using their abilities well.
I never played a single COD game in my life, let alone joining a multiplayer match. Something about COD repelled me away. I played a lot of Halo, and unironically, Halo players are finding this game interesting. The abilities are similar to the equipments in Halo, where each of them had a counter-play. Ironically, 343i ruined Halo for a while by hiring people who "hate Halo" and appealing to COD players.
As a COD fan, it's refreshing to play XDefiant. Good gunplay with one issue being the desync, TTK is pretty good, fun gameplay loop, and a solid, optimized game. I do wish they add TDM just to kill some time in and have videos or music play in the background while I test out characters and guns. Will keep playing and enjoying the game
I prefer COD. To me XDef feel too slippery and the art style just dose not mesh with me. Not saying I like all the micro transactions and dumb player models they have these days. If I had it my way we would go back to legit OG COD 4 no sliding, 80 FOV just stripped down COD fun.
