    I have read that you should always remove the negative terminal first.

      Good practice for sure. It doesn't matter technically but it lessons chances of an "oopsy" short. Also, he placed his Rachet on rhe battery, that's a good way to get an oopsy short too. Also, a memory saver hookup is not even mentioned here. Good for those who don't want their car to have to relearn everything again

      Yup. Safest thing is "Negative, Positive" and then in reverse order "Positive, Negative" to put a new battery in. This dude is dummy lucky 😂

    Thanks for this video. I just changed my 2019 cx5 Gt for the first time on this car. A couple of points of interest for anyone who has never done this.
    1. if you're not sure what size engine you have, 2.2 or 2.5, lift the hood and underneath is a sticker which will tell you your engine size.
    2. In regards to installing the new battery. It is important to note that the brackets that hold the battery in place go on in a specific manner. So before you detach it, get a good light and take pictures of the position of the hooks to see their placement. They only go in one way, and if you don 't know that, you're going to get frustrated.
    This truly is a straight-forward, easy process. Hope this extra info helps somebody out.

    Thank you! Just did my 2018 CX5.
    My wife paid over $200 in labor for Subaru to swap her battery so I said the hell with that and did mine on my own. Took 5-10 mins

    Thank you for the great instructions. Just one thing, the battery tray KE52-56-041B has groves to engage the J shaped end of the battery hold down stud 0259-54-292A. Therefore, the J saped part supposed to be parales to the side surface of the battery.

    Backwards. Connecting the negative terminal first can create a spark, which can ignite flammable vapors that may be present in the battery. This can lead to a fire or explosion. Connecting the positive terminal first is the safest way to connect a car battery.

    Thank you this was extremely helpful! I never changed a car battery before today and with your video I was able to get it done, even in the dark with my friend helping hold a flash light! Liked & subscribed!

    Remove the negative first in order to prevent an accidental path to ground.

    Are the systems in the car affected somehow, by plugging off the bttery? I mean, some settings lost or something I'd need to configure again etc.?

    • @robyuen6000
      @robyuen6000 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Only some settings need to be configure again not all. Stuff like memory seat and brightness levels on the screen. Everything else should be fine.

      The istop system is disabled and has to be configured to recognise the new battery. Easy to do if you follow the instructions

    Wait...wait....Did you just pull that battery out holding on to the terminals dude? So you know the battery is dead, but anyone who is green could try and do the same to their live battery and they are toast!! I cannot believe you did that. Correct me anyone if I'm seeing things.

    • @dude4173
      @dude4173 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      There’s not enough voltage in car batteries to harm you even if the person touches the positive and negative terminals at the same time.
      If what you thought was true, there’d be dead mechanics and dead regular folk every day swapping batteries.
