    great review!! the good little jam you had on it helped to show as well as you can with youtube's compressed sound what that guitar actually sounds like and how it performs. Very helpful!

    I really enjoy watching your reviews and the enthusiasm which you project as you describe and play them, but would it not be fairer to perhaps initially audition each guitar "as-is" with the stock saddle and strings so the viewers can hear what they would be getting, and then after you've fitted your favourite saddle and strings, do more reviewing so that it illustrates the sort of (improved?) change that could be obtained with a little extra investment of time/cost? My feeling is that some guitars are built to have a certain character and colour of sound with their stock saddle/strings - and particularly at the price point which they are sold - which might include traits like reduced or increased sustain/body-voicing/etc. By automatically fitting FMI and Elixir strings, you kind of make each one 'standardized' to your personal tastes (which may not be everyones' flavour!). I'm not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, but I aliken it to, say, putting traction control on every single car but in fact some race-bred cars are designed to have no traction control to give the driver more road feedback and a thrilling driver experience, and by fitting traction control you might invariably take away that 'edge' of excitement. In any case, bravo with your reviews - keep them coming .... and I would also very much like to hear how the guitars sound plugged in! Cheers

    Hey... I will be purchasing the APX-1000NT today. Could you please let me know in a comment what the strings you are using on your APX-1000. I realize that you did mention what you were using, however I cannot make it all out. Thanks... BTW, you are an awesome guitar player... Magical Hands!!! ;)

    So I installed the Elixir PB 12/53 strings on the APX1000. Nice sound! The factory strings sounded harsh to me. The Elixir strings have a softer/mellow sound to them...
    Question on Amplification for the APX1000... I bought a used Stagg 20 Watt Amp. Both volume controls, Amp/Guitar, need to be all the way up to get any volume. Is there something wrong, or is this the way it is supposed to be. Is it because the Amp is only 20 Watts? I set the Amp volume to max, and then adjust the volume at the guitar... Is the Amp damaged?

    Hey TGSS... So what is the material of the nut, saddle and pins of the factory 'stock' APX 1000 NT? Have looked all over the Web, but to no avail. Also, how is it that an FMI saddle improves the sound? I am new to the world of guitars, so I am just learning at the moment... Thanks for your help.

      +GrandpaBambu Stock from the factory is all plastic...

      +The Guitar Spa Singapore Thanks for the information... Why did you not replace the plastic nut and pins for FMI on the APX 1000 also?

      +The Guitar Spa Singapore Going to purchase the Elixer PB 12/53 strings that you recommended. Just curious as to what strings are on the factory APX 1000?

    Another question... Is the pickup on the APX1000 'Passive' or 'Active'?

    • @TheGuitarSpaSingapore
      @TheGuitarSpaSingapore  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Active

    • @Ducati_Dude
      @Ducati_Dude 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +The Guitar Spa Singapore... On my new (to me) Stagg 20 AAR Amp I had the Passive/Active switch in the 'Active' (by chance) position. Had to put Amp volume at Max, then put guitar volume anywhere from half, to Max to get any volume. That to me, didn't sound correct. Was playing around with the Amp a bit more today and put the 'pickup type' switch to 'Passive'. Ah!!! Now we have some volume... I can put Amp at low end of volume range and get some nice volume.

    APX vs CPX?? which and why? i had the impression apx is fast, but more electro in sound. CPX is more the warmer natural acoustic sound? please enlighten : ) there is 1200 now.

    A better microphone would help. You should play both acoustically and plugged in while telling the people when you are doing each. In addition, some single note runs need to be heard to fully comprehend what the guitar sounds like,

      +Green Bow Came back for another listen. Looking longingly at one in black. (By the way The Guitar Spa Singapore, the 1200 is the top model, and I think you mentioned that 1000 was. Anyway never mind.) I think the APX has a lighter more jazzy tone. The CPX being fuller. It's making choosing, hard work. Have a happy music day.
