Hi Paul! Is there a way to shrink the callout widget overall to a narrower portion of the screen, or does it have to be a full screen feature? I've tried cropping the background image, but the canvas stays the same size even if the background image is smaller. I'd love to turn it into a "toolbar" of hints at the bottom of the screen.
Yes I don't really consider this to be a true responsive design layout. The hotspots of course can be wherever you want them to be and if you select the individual callout and expand Settings you can control where the callouts appear in relation to the hotspots themselves.
Can you do a video on using the new captivate as just a wrapper for an LMS? Mainly around an .mp4. Enables additional tools, settings and tracking than just a video file.
At some point, I will cover the interactive video in Captivate 12. Ensure you subscribe and set your notifications to receive updates from me when I publish such a tutorial.
Thank you very much. I am juste starting to learn Adobe Captivate, please, are all the classic adobe captivate features (triggers, variables) are present on new version ?
No, not yet. That is why a new version of Classic is still available to subscribe to. Once we have feature parity, Adobe will likely discontinue classic, but they have said that is a few years away from now (2027).
@@faysalhafidi80 It depends on what you are trying to do. I just finished a fantastic project that was really cool and interactive, and I used Captivate 12. If the features you need are only available in 11 (classic), then yes, that's what you should do.
is there a way to make the clickable spot bigger so learners don't have to go searching for it? Say if I wanted learners to find the hot spot, and I dropped the Normal State view opacity to 0% and wanted the learner to be able to click on a bigger area than the tiny circle they default with?
As far as I'm aware there is no way to adjust the size of the hotspot. I would suggest that you request this to Adobe as a feature enhancement. Click on the *Help* dropdown menu and select *Provide Feedback* to be brought to a webpage where you can make a suggestion.
When I place hotspots using the All New Adobe Captivate, they don't remain sticky with the image--and each time I switch the preview between screens (much less between previewing for a computer screen versus a tablet versus a phone) the hotspots become further off center. Hot spots that are aligned exactly where I want them in the build are immediately offset from their appropriate spots as soon as I move to preview mode. Is there a way to make them sticky with the image associated with them? If not, this feature isn't very helpful.
I would check with Adobe. I have found that all my hotspots are "sticky" with the background image. You can reach them through their technical support email at captivatehelp@adobe.com.
If only you could have a hot spot open a file...Like a video or image with audio. The scroll bars are also not obvious on mobile devices for a lot of the widgets. We are still finding the Captivate 12 falling short and updates with improvements are slow. Researching other authoring tools has began for the whole team. Unless they quickly allow you to open old projects for updating and maintenance within the new, definitely not a loss to switch tools.
Perhaps the timeline widget isn't right solution for your elearning challenge. As a twenty plus year experienced elearning designer, developer, I have learned that if a tool or a part of the tool isn't working for you, perhaps you need to rethink the interaction. Remember the goal of an elearning interaction isn't to use a particular interactionor widget in this case, but instead to teach a concept or skill. Since its release in June of 2023, Adobe has released two updates with another coming any day now. If you need to support legacy projects, they provide you Adobe Captivate Classic to support those legacy projects. I personally don't want to migrate old legacy course into a new tool and reintroduce old technologies such as Flash and Action Script and so on. It's been my experience that Adobe has thought about this transition quite well, but telling me about it won't get you what you want. You should provide this feedback to Adobe.
Is it possible to insert more than 6 Hotspots, because 6 seem to bei a "magical number" for the new captivate ;-) Sometimes I need more than 6 Hotspots or cards or so on.... Is there a hidden possibility to change it to 7, 8, 9 or 10? Regards from Germany

@@CaptivateTeacher Thank you, so I should work with classic adobe captivate ?

Not as far as I'm aware.
You spend a solid minute talking about how to change the views.......11 had scale-to-fit... is that no longer an option?
Are you asking about the background image?
