Everything Dana said is true I’m currently on 78hr of fasting waiting for 6hrs more to break it and I’ve never felt more energy and alive as I do rn on the fast. Started at 246 pounds and now currently at 237 pounds and drinking 2 gallons of water everyday.the crazy part from doing this fast is how much energy I had throughout the day and in my workouts which surprised the shit outta me.Definitely doing it again before the year ends!
This funny because your weight and the amount you dropped to is exactly like mine. I am on 48 + hours and not even hungry. I lost a good bit of weight

Currently at 73 hours of my fast and it’s weird how I’m not hungry. Like I expected my stomach to growl but no. I just miss eating when I’m bored. But it kind of teaches you that hunger really isn’t real when you skip a meal

I've done prolonged fasting. I think what he means is that you actually THINK about food. It takes over your thoughts. Snacking happens on auto-pilot.
I've done this fast many times and he got it spot on. Try it yourself and you will see.

Have struggled to do an extended fast like that ever since. The most challenging thing is not being able to isolate oneself so that I'm in the environment that allows me to achieve this very challenging goal. My goal is ultimately to facilitate healing to the most possible as I have been in scary life disrupting miserable chronic pain for decades now.

@@dariknour6051 It’s still totally worth it. Good luck! I felt unbelievable for days after. I also do 5 minute cold showers in the morning which, after you get through a tough first 2 minutes, makes you feel great.

Currently on day 4 of of a water fast, not as hard as I expected! So far 105 hours in as we speak trying to make it to the 168th hour

Ive done a 72 hour fast a couple times. Ive had weird digestive health issues. I always felt better when fasting.
You should definitely try bone broth. I use kettle and fire bone broth. 8oz a day. Within weeks I felt so much better. Changed my life.

Yeah I'm going on 7 days water fasting. Day 3 was the worst. Day 4 and 5 and I didn't really crave food. You just gotta get over that hump.
Similar to what happened with Hank Green from Schishow recently. He has cancer and did chemo and when his hair grew back it was curly…..he didn’t have curly hair. When you fast like this your body resets and what changes could be anything.
It’s very easy to fast when doing keto. Keto naturally progresses to intermittent fasting, which then makes fasting for longer periods of time quite easy.

Same... I'm all extra energy until that third day, when I cannot walk back from the gym. Also, you can get kind of wired, and unable to sleep, with the body telling you to be alert and hunt at 3am.

Last year i was into fasting a lot i was able to hit a 75 hour fast, and during that period of about 3 months i had lost 3 inches off my waist.
I am getting back on fasting because it does work.

I fast 24 hr once a week, and I'm intermittent fasting 6 days a week. My body feels great, i have no more gut issues, and sleep has gotten better.

You can work out you might lose a tiny bit of muscle but 90% will be fat
For those who haven't tried fasting at all, you will NOT become hungrier the longer you fast. You simply are more aware of how long you've been hungry, does that make sense? Go without eating a meal or an in between meal snack, your hunger doesn't increase, your awareness of how long you've been hungry does increase. BTW .... usually after 36 hrs of a water fast hunger will subside greatly.
I've did 3 day water fast 3 times a year for about 15 years, I NEVER get unwell, colds/flu etc, ever, i've also done 23 day juice fast & a couple of 7 day fasts, when i started it was due to my leaning toward healthy improvements along with my fitness training, however i think it is Now Essential for most people to do this, due to the huge amount of unessecary toxic substances in our food, water & air, it is in my view simply unavoidable, i think when we do this regular 2 or 3 times per year, the body simply has no need to purge elements from us by giving us cold/flu, so we do not get those anymore, thats how it's been for me, i also read after i'd been doing it for quite some years, that a 3 day fast boosts the immune system, so that makes sense with me never getting unwell
I also use a water distiller & have leaned more towards Fruit/veg for most of my food intake, been vegetarian for about 40 years also.
Yip, fasting, we simply NEED to give our systems a break from all the junk they contaminate us with & your body will function better for it
Can you exercise when doing a water fast, or do you have to take a week off training?
There’s tons of info online about it. Personally I lost my energy on day 3. I could only do 6 mins on the treadmill as opposed to 30 mins days 1 and 2.

5 days in. First few days are rough. A new experience, so learning as I go, but my conclusion so far is it's better to go longer, less often, since the suffering and impairment are disproportionately in the first few days. That also means the body is generating energy from fat less efficiency in those initial days, which is why they are rough. More pain for less gain. If someone has experience to the contrary, I am all ears, but I don't see such accounts, and I have been looking.

Depending on your bodyfat you can definitely go weeks without food with no issues. Best to start with some 24’s, then 48’s, then 72. Go from there.
@@Julzwkd as you get older (like 30s or older usually depending on your gut microbiome), fasting will make you feel better (not worse). You will actually sleep better.

1 hour later- food with probiotics like yogurt.
1 hour later- food with prebiotics like a green banana.
Then you can move to animal fat.

This isnt wild at all..... You can survive 2 weeks without food. But only 3 days without water. Thankfully there is water in almost everything you consume so even if you dont drink water youre still consuming it.

Dana drank bone broth during his fast. Bone broth actually breaks a fast. If you’re going fast do it right. Electrolytes won’t break a fast so if you need that drink that, but don’t drink bone broth

about 6hrs to go on my first 72h fast.. to me first ~48hrs was super easy. But this last day, i've been SO hungry all the time. Was doing some 18/6 intermittenfasting before, not very strict though. Lost now 6kg in a week (13,2 pounds?), mostly water i believe. Been working out quite a lot, but relatively easy things. 2 weeks holiday from work, could not do this while working..
You can, I work in the trades and work my ass off daily. Get into ketosis first then start the fast. Easy peasy lemon squeezie.

Would be easy to me if i worked normal office hours etc, but this 24/7/365 life is bit oo hard to handle keto, or fasting during working long up to 24hrs shifts. Im a little sus on "no hunger at all" ive done 2 and 3 day fasts and im hungry the entire time.
Do this with no water and it only takes 3 days. Yes, no water no food. Take a 2 mile walk in the morning and gentle Yoga like Yin daily. Of course y ou need to have no work, rest. I did this in 2000 and have had 6 colds/flus since. Before i would get sick 3-4 times a year like most.
Addressing Dana, realize it much easier for Dana to lose fat because he is on TRT and HGH which prioritize energy coming from fat and not from catabolism. Thats no slight on Dana, if you are over 43 and not on HRT/TRT you are doing life wrong...If you can afford it that is.

then why do people say that the athletes who cut weight by cutting water intake for close to 7 days damage their bodies and are bad for them? Dana White's logic doesn't make sense. The athletes are clearly cutting the water weight off of them like what Dana is doing.

In a water fast you’re consuming constant and big amounts of water throughout the day so your body burns ketones (fat as energy) and sheds your body fat. Fighters drop weight by dehydrating themselves meanwhile a water fast causes your body to burn fat and does not damage your organs. I know they seem similar at first but they are and use completely different methods and mechanisms

I’ve done an 8.5 day and a 22 day water fast. White has a lot of catching up to do. Next on my list is addy fast longer than the 36 hours I have done a few times already.

After 5 days the negatives surpass the positives. Then what matters is frequency. Meaning a 72 hour fast every 1-2 months is way better for health than a 20 day fast once per year or once per lifetime. This isn't a race, its to take the benefits. So no he doesn't have a lot of catching up to do. He just needs to add this 3-4 day prolonged fast, 4-6 times per year in his life

@@laasuncion549 yes I did. I was already at a good weight with little fat. It helped me shred that hardest last 10 pounds. After you fast for 2 days you start burning fat and have plenty of energy. I’d do push ups during the day too.
