- Today we review the Peugeot 3008 GT and the Peugeot 5008 GT.
Both these stunning cars are 2 litre diesel, are 180 brake horse power, are fully automatic and come with an 8 Speed Gear Box.
Both these cars come in an Active Model, the Allure model, & the GT Line Model, keeping it very simple and straightforward for those looking to buy either vehicle. In terms of price, the 5008 is an extra, €2,750 across the range. The main difference in terms of the exterior in these models is evident in the back of the car, which boils down to personal preference.
The 5008 7 Seater is far more Child orientated with 3 individual sites which can readily accommodate a baby seat, while the windows come with sunscreens to protect rear passengers from exposure. There are also rear facing tables attached to back of the front seats which will be enjoyed by both child and adult passengers particularly on long trips, while there is also charging points for the gameboys, iPads and mobile phones. For those with larger families, there two extra seats are housed behind, with 3 point seat belts and extra charging points for on the go tech.
We are calling the Active model the entry model in both these ranges, as the Access models are very difficult to come by and we've not actually seen one. Never the less the Active Model makes a perfectly good entry point and comes with lots of spec including the Multi Screen Dash, Piano Keys, Cruise Control, iCockpit Dash and on the the exterior Fog Lights and Alloy Wheels come as standard.
Moving up into the Allure model, one of the key features that we love is the Lane Assist, so on those long journeys, the car can help keep you between the lines.
One drawback, particularly for those who are struggle with time management, is the when reversing the clock becomes invisible and is replaced with the dash, and in the GT Model the forward facing camera also obscures the clock.
Sales wise we tend to sell 3 times as many 3008 compared to 5008s, however for us, we'd buy the 5008. For the extra €2750, your getting 2 extra seats in the back or alternatively a bigger boot. From a resale perspective we think the 7 seater SUV will hold its value, particularly if there isn't as many sold as the 3008.
Moving up the models opens you up to a host of new features such as electric sunroof, leather upholstry, push button start, grip control for the inclement weather, heated seats, audio controls, paddle shift gears on the automatic models, electric seats, electric windows and mirrors, sport mode.
For us, we think we'd choose the 5008 over the 3008 all day. Paying that little bit for for the GT model and spreading the cost over a 3 to 4 year period just makes sense and will leave you driving away with a car you'll love for longer.
