    The comment you made around 0:23 in the video the lower nantahala isn’t all wild trout water, it’s actually hatchery Supported and gets stocked once a week from April till about end of June, then will receive a few stockings through the winter months and is closed the month of March, the lower nantahala does have a large amount of wild rainbow and brown trout though

      That would be great, but I do not see the lower section on the 2019 stocking plan. Looking at the 2019 plan, the dam to White Oak Creek gets 2,000 fish and the DH section gets 18,500 - ending at the Powerhouse. Nothing scheduled below the Powerhouse. When I look at the interactive fishing area map, it shows the lower section as Wild Trout (www.ncpaws.org/wrcmapbook/FishingAreas.aspx). I wonder if they changed the approach recently?

    I kayak a lot and so I’ve subscribed to you a while back on another channel of mine and just moved to Franklin NC from Florida. I was just on the very spot you were fishing last weekend and never got a bite... can you share what fly you might have been using please sir?

      Yes, last year when I was there, the fly shop told us to use the squiggly worm in pink color. In addition, when I ran out of those, they were hitting on white wooly buggers.

    Avoid kayakers on the Nantahala??? Can’t be done. Try the valley river down the road piece in Andrews

      Finally back online. Is there good access to the river without needing permission for private property? I just checked the NC Fishing app and it looks like the road runs close to it... but are there turnoffs for access? Thanks!

    Hmmm, I wonder how so many people find out about this river and cause the 'combat fishing' scene.
    If you build it, they will come.

      The Nantahala is well known since NC publishes the stocking schedule for the delayed harvest section. I was there the day after it was stocked.

      @AlanHowellphotovideo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe you should do a video on all those other rivers in the stocking schedule. Maybe that'll help the combat fishing scene. Better yet, why not tell everyone where the delicate book trout populations exist in your favorite rivers. I'm sure that will ease the pressure there as well.
      If you build it, they will come.

      Actually, that has already been done - wildtroutstreams.com/ - Contrary to popular belief, we need to share all the locations where brook trout exist since the secret places have nobody to defend them when the developers come. As you point out, give people an infinite number of choices and the pressure spreads... no spot gets burned.

    I have to laugh... a kayak guy wanting to fish where there’s no kayakers.... just kidding , that looks like beautiful water for both kinds of recreation.

      Ive caught fish directly underneath rafters and kayakers on the Nantahala. The fish dont mind the commotion as they are used to it. Having fished this river hundreds of times over the decade, I am not worried about who knows or does not know about it. While I am willing to share the river with the watersports crowd, I am not just going to turn it over to them and leave. I have had some run-ins with some inconsiderate rafters kayakers, but most of them are respectful and I make every effort to respond in kind. There is no need to keep this river a secret as that greedy fucker above seems to think is the right thing to do. This river is WELL known, and heavily fished but is STILL the finest trout river in NC for both wild and stock fish. That will not change. This is due to its size, and the abundant food source from releases of water from the bottom of Nantahala lake. There are hundreds of fish per mile of that creek but that doesnt mean they are easy to catch.

      My buddy and I get an AirBnB near Bryson City. There are a number of inexpensive options near Deep Creek.
