I believe that" Panhandle " is one of the greatest westerns I've ever seen.

I love westerns, esp the B&W classics like this one. Grew up on them. Let's be honest. They were intended to sanitise America's image and divert attention from the historical fact of the Native American genocide. As late as the 1910's they were still being hunted and killed. It's just the Anglo-Saxon way.

FANTASTIC MOVIE
Didn't know the panhandle had such nice mountains. And, his brother's girlfriend went all the way down to Mexico from the panhandle to buy a saddle and some groceries . Only 400 miles.

I just watched this movie again. I saw it in theater when first released. I remember patrons talking then about how good the movie, actors and director were. I’ve seen it a few times since. It still rates high with me. I’m an old retired scientist (octogenarian).

A fine western without John Wayne. Another Rod Cameron classic is 'Ride The Man Down' (1952) with Ella Raines and an all-star supporting cast!
The only thing wrong with these old Westerns is the over the top music.

Audie Murphy (1924-1971) made a version of this script, there are some small differences....
Broderick Crawford was the bad guy in that one.
I will say that Rod Cameron is a lot more relaxed in the role than Audie was.
