    I work front desk, and the ammount of times people just expect free upgrades and dont tip,
    I try my hardest to find something when someone tips to make it worthwhile. Remember that tipping should also be a statement of thier service so if a front desk agent goes above and beyond to help you, tipping should be recommended.

    It works if you don't act entitled. I did this at Vdara and the clerk gave us a higher floor. After seeing the room I went back and doubled my tip. Well worth the money.

    We recently checked into Bellagio later at night…..tipped $20 trick, got $150 food and Bev credit because they didn’t have any upgrades left. The customer service person was awesome! We already had a beautiful fountain view room so we were super happy! 😊

      What does the food and bev credit go towards? Like room service at the hotel? Or specific restaurants on the strip?

    "PLEASE DO NOT GIVE ME AN UGLY ROOM" is what I like to tell them when I check in. I tip $50 for average properties like Planet Hollywood, Park MGM, Paris, and so on. I tip $100 for higher end properties like Cosmo, Aria, Resorts World. I have received a high floor suite about 95% of the times. The few times it did not work, was because I arrived around 11pm and they were all booked. I have tried this method about 18-20 times, so it is almost full proof. The times it did not work, they returned my money, but I still gave it to them anyways for good karma. Lol. The trick is to act like you've done this before. This works for any lines at restaurants, bars, or clubs. 👍👍😁😁

    I tried it at the Venetian. I did not sandwich the money ($50) but instead, I simply placed it on the counter after asking if any comp upgrades were available. The clerk said “it depends on what we can do.” Ultimately, he did not give me an upgrade and said he tried to get me as high as he could. I was shooting for a strip view, but got the pool view I paid for. I decided to keep my money since what I got was essentially what I paid for. I kindly told him thank you, took my key, and went on. I didn’t mean to tease but a higher floor in the same pay grade was not an upgrade to me. He could have placed me on a higher floor anyway.

    Venetian trip 2022 of February. I was told i would pay $30 extra a night for a higher room or $50 a night for a strip view and that my room was on a low floor with a bad view and was not ready. I agreed to pay $30 a night for a better view and a room that was ready. I asked the woman if she accepted tips and she said yes. I gave her $20 and she told me she could waive the $30 a night fee. $210 saved all for $20!

    I recently went to Vegas, had a stay at the Bellagio, and my room was facing the desert. I really wanted a room facing the fountain so I asked for an upgrade with money folded in hand, she said she had to check with her manager and after that she came back and told me that they do have an upgrade to the Fountainview for $50 extra night, which would’ve cost me a total of 200 extra. I told her I didn’t have that money and she asked me again if I wanted that and I told her I wasn’t able to afford it so she just booked me with the desert view. She knew it was my birthday. It was also on a Monday and we were leaving on Friday and still she wouldn’t budge. And then at the last minute she saw that I was a Pearl member which after leaving Vegas I realized does not get you a free upgrade, but for some reason she went to speak to her manager told her I was a member. She came back with a Rose and wished me a happy birthday from the Bellagio and said they would upgrade me for free! 20th floor, dead center facing the fountains! I couldn’t be more happy! I did give her the tip😊
    The room was very spacious, and absolutely gorgeous. I loved it! Not sure if that will happen again, but who knows!

    If all you get is higher floor or different view, no it doesn't worth the money (except fountain view at Bellagio, as they do charge $100 extra over non fountain view room), sometimes also worth to look at the prices of higher category rooms but not just always the cheapest rooms, it maybe cheaper than you think to get something nice but not rely on the $20 trick, like this year I was able to book tower king one bedroom suite at Luxor for just $55/night a few times

    I'm going to Vegas for first time this month, 4 days Belagio. I already prepaid (-resort fees) through a third party booking site. I rented the cheapest room possible. If I put $100 on the desk what are the odds of me (a) getting checked in early and (b) getting a complimentary upgrade to a better room?

    • @ShowMeVegas
      @ShowMeVegas  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on a lot of factors - what days of the week are you booked? Having booked through a third-party site probably hurts. If you were booked through MGM Rewards with an elevated player's club status you'd probably get both.
