Sorry you’ve been a bit under the weather , and admire your determination to put this video out . The rega company do seem to achieve that little bit extra , I will look forward to your take on Neat speakers as the shape and size has always intrigued me . Best wishes and kind regards as always 😀👍👍👍
Really enjoying the channel. As an Elicit-R owner, I wonder how does the Aethos sound compare and is it quite a different presentation stepping up to this model?
I know this video is old. I have the Aethos. Its on another level. The push it gives your speakers is awesome. I am driving a set of Paradigm Founders 80's and All I can say is wow. Not to say the Elicit is a bad unit. The Aethos is something.
@@r423fplip oh, not this shit again. Why phase it like a question? You can just take me to school on how it’s not possible and then I tell you you are either deaf or lack real world exposure and so on. Or maybe we just skip the dance?
Really enjoyed the video and I am really looking forward to your Subwoofer video too. Some tips on set up and subwoofer positioning would be really helpful. I have set mine up by ear and it took many hours over many weeks working out the best location and settings. It was good fun though and I definitely learned a lot from doing so. I agree too that the Elicit R is different sonically to the other Rega Amplifiers in the Range. I wonder if there will be an Elicit R replacement. Thanks again.
Hi Sam seen you crop up a few times on the Cheshire channel , I’m also aware of a possible up grade to the rega line up . So will be interesting to see what develops kind regards 😀👍👍👍
@@1x3dil I tried the Elex R which I liked and I thought a little more engaging than the more expensive Elicit R. I am really enjoying having an Exposure 2010S in my system lately. It has been replaced in the current range by the Exposure 2510
Yes, they do sound similar, they all have the same natural engaging sound ... obviously scale and dynamics improve as you go up through the range .... only the current Elicit has a slightly different balance
I own a io and a elex r. Had a brio, and had demos of the elicit r and Aethos. They definitely have a signature sound. Very open and exciting but not eat fatiguing at all. You hear every instrument in the music.
@@shuckylad How do you rate the Elex-r compared to the more premium models? I have a Cambridge CXA60 and am looking to upgrade. What speakers do you use with the Elex and IO?
@@doifeellucky Hi, I think both the io and elex r are giant killers. Yes things get “better” as you go up the ladder but in terms of value for money the two I own are the best. Obviously if your budget goes that high get the one you can afford. I use bookshelf speakers with my Rega’s. Harbeth’s p3esr with my elex r and Dali Menuets with the io. Bear in mind the Menuets are 4ohms the io just makes them sing.
@@shuckylad Thanks for the feedback. I was initially considering the IO for my working from home office, but may well just try my existing setup in there and look at something more premium in my living room. I like the fact that the Rega are analog only and am very tempted by the Elex-r.
Hi, I'm thinking of installing a stereo hifi system, I'm thinking of a REGA integrated amplifier as an amplifier, but which tower speaker should I buy to connect to this amplifier, I'd be very happy if you write your opinions about it.
Great video about the Rego Aethos, i'm in search of an integrated amp for my ATC SCM19s, could this amp be the one!!!. I just hope the active sub you do a review on isn't another side Ad for Rel. There are other better subs on the market, MJ Acoustics for sure is one of them, might be worth giving them some exposure, and try connecting with high level Neutrik Speakon Connector, that could potentially get subscribes attention.
I've dealt with most of the brands over the years, REL, MJ, Sunfire etc ... they all have strong and weak models, I don't have a particular need for multiple brands as I don't sell any AV .. I just sell REL (sorry) they do seem to have some more 'stereo' focused models and they have good back up. I don't think they are quite as focused as they were in the Richard Lord days, but the new owners do seem to be doing a reasonable job .... and yes, high level Neutrik all the way
I do experience transformer hum on some units, despite using a DC blocker. The Aethos has a bit, but nothing really noticable at all. Unfortunately my unit has a known production fault, where there is hum through the speakers/headphones (with nothing connected and the volume at zero). If you experience this, you should get it replaced/fixed.
I’ve never experienced it... but you generally expect a certain amount on designs like this ... Naim power amps are similar and most of them hum a little
As a formee yamaha guy i can honestly say im tired of sterile 'natural sound' Im not doing any audio reviews looking for that untouched sound. No, i want to dance and Rega makes me wana dance. Stop trying to be a pro and just enjoy music the way you love it.
Would love to see a quickie review of the Roksan Attessa streaming amp please, hard to find much video of it barring a teeth grindingly bad advert done for Roksan.
I love the Aethos, matching with RP 10, Apheta2, aria, A/E 509s bliss
Good to know it works with the AE509s I’m thinking of an upgrade, either the Aethos or the supernait 3

Loving the channel all the way over in Melbourne Australia- hope you are feeling better after the lemsip 😀
Clinging on :-)
Thanks for posting this one! FWIW the Exposure 2510 is brilliant as far as controlling the volume via remote (the Aethos definitely not).
Really enjoying the channel. As an Elicit-R owner, I wonder how does the Aethos sound compare and is it quite a different presentation stepping up to this model?
You should check the previous video covering the elicit for answer. Basically all amps have a family sound, the elecit being the exception.

Rega is my favorite, very musical.

Very enjoyable video as always.
how is the rega aethos compared with the atoll in400se ? Have the kef r7 speakers !!
This or supernait3. Also wondering if there is an update on the way with a DAC inbuilt
Great video. Putting aside power, are there any sound signature similarities between the IO, the Brio and the Aethos? Thanks.

I’m not aware of active subs being frowned upon. Many great systems have one. Don’t like the RED lights on this amp. Might check it out though.

How's the headphone jack?
How did you take the lid off? There doesn’t seem to be any visible fasteners.
Naim tend to use oversized toroidal transformers like that
They do... the ones in the Reference series are massive
Anyone have experience using Jean Marie Reynaud speakers with Rega amps, in particular the Bliss Jubilee or Euterpe Jubilee? Thanks
I use my JMR Folia with an Elicit MK5. It matches perfect. There is a german Hifi YT Channel PhonoPhono who shows JMR and Rega Combinations.

I really don't understand why "properly integrated subs" are frowned upon in HiFi
I think integration is the issue... but done right they can really work
Do you get any transformer hum with the Aethos, given it’s size?
I’ve got the Rega Aethos and the big transformer sometimes hums but a DC blocker solves the problem. Amazing amp.
