I recently saw that Tony went to the Hartt School of Music (also where my pianist father went). When I asked my dad (who's just 1 year older than Mr. MacAlpine) if he knew Tony, my dad immediately said, "Oh yeah, we all knew he was going somewhere. He once played for me a JAZZED-UP version of Chopin's B-flat minor Prelude, and I was surprised that his rhythmic alterations didn't turn me off--quite the opposite, in fact. He was awesome." edit: P.S. When I said to my dad, "You didn't tell me he was also a serious guitarist!" my dad said, "I didn't know he was...but it doesn't surprise me; he was a STINKY talented kid."
Tony definitely deserves the recognition and respect. He such a great guy who went through some health problems. Throughout all these years a very talented player.
