Tom Sawyer story, reminded me of my army days, a ‘million’ years ago, lol... The Sargent Major who had it in for me for being a non-combatant, came around a tent and he yelled:- “Where is that f... non-combatant?” “Here I am Sir”, I replied. “Grab a shovel and start digging a trench all around the camp!”, he yelled at me! “Sure thing Sir,”, says compliant me... Here’s the thing it was a Sunday morning around 11.00 AM, and everyone was lounged around in the desert environment, chilling, smoking, drinking coffee, etc. I smilingly, and that’s the key, ‘smilingly,’ took my shirt off, grabbed the shovel and started digging..., lol... Everyone watched me for about 5 minutes, then one guy took the shovel from me and started digging... I didn’t touch the shovel again, my fellow-soldiers dug the trench for me... The Sargent Major silently fumed throughout this debacle, lol... So, yeah, Susan is right, if, like the Tom Sawyer story, we decide to go with the flow and make a boring task fun, things take wonderful uncharacteristic turns, lol...
