Every single thing in this movie is telegraphed in a way that you don't catch it until rewatching it... the fact that there are two identical birds in the disappearing cage trick... you can see the personality change in the twins - but only if you're watching for it... brilliant acting, especially on Bale's part...
JP Morgan was funding Tesla's last major power project. It was a tower that Tesla said would transmit electricity wirelessly. The funding was pulled and the project cancelled basically because Morgan realized that you couldn't meter wireless electricity.
Hell yeah thank you for dropping this gem in the comments. Since I watch this movie I been doing research on Tesla. I knew some things like most people but after watching this I had to know more. So thank you for this bc I didn't see this
To clarify, this is from the book explaination, which doesn't actually *fully* translate into the movie. Tesla's invention ("The Flash") was actually a type of teleportation: a device that transported the human consciousness into a duplicate host form. The first body that goes into the machine is then left lifeless, like a shell, due to the sentience and conciousness of that being having been transported into the newly created host. In the book, Angier is more closely body-hopping due to the machines function. Angier willingly kills his original body the first time he does the trick, and steps into a new duplicated form. He is NEVER again in the same body, he's just a detached soul jumping from clone to clone. From that point onwards any form he existed in between shows were left empty (dead) each night when he transported the living essence of himself into a new host form. He'd discard the previous forms of himself like garbage - they are catalogued in a vault with the date, time and location of where the death and duplication occurred - and soak in the applause of each show. Over, and over, and over.
Another movie in the same vein as this is "The Usual Suspects". You're never really sure what's going on, and there's a HUGE twist. It's also a movie that you pick up more and more every time you watch it. It's really good and I think you'll like it 😉
What up Major. Fellow youtuber here showing some love. I haven't seen The Prestige yet but i am currently watching your Game o Thrones series. I've watcha all up to season 5 episode 8 (watching it now). Just here letting you know your reacts are good. you talk a lot through it, lol, but its still good. don't change a thing. Keep up the great content my guy!
Tesla wanted to give the world free electricity. He died poor and crazy cause of Edison. There is a statue of him that gives free wifi cause he was on the verge of inventing that also. Watch the series "The Men who Built America" That show shows the rivalry between Edison and Tesla.
Yes I for sure will after this movie I gotta know more of tesla story. I knew little about him so I can't wait to see what else he had planned for the world
the movie The Current War is about how we ended up using Edison's designs for electrification and not Tesla's. Good movie, got overlooked because it sat on the shelf for over a year in the wake of Harvey Weinstein's arrest.
Imagine Major Reacts being called to the witness stand and can't decipher when 2 people are genetically identical. I could hand out some slack for fraternal twins or twins who are of opposite gender... but identical twins. yol
There are so many layers in that early scene where Alfred is at Julia's funeral and Angier asks him about the knot, and how it's possible Alfred couldn't know what knot *he* tied. Only after you finish the movie AND rewatch it do you clock the full (and valid reason) why he actually doesn't know what knot was tied that night. Ifykyk 🫡💀 HELLA SPOILERS ... ... ... FR THO. "One half me swearing blind that it'd tied a simple slip-knot, the other half convinced that I'd tied the Langford double." - Borden stood there grieving over this woman who was his best friends wife and who he cared for, unable to explain that it wasn't him and unable to give his best friend closure, all because it wasn't 'Alfred' Borden who tied that knot; he doesn't really exist. *AL*bert and *FRED*erick Borden shared that alias... and whichever Borden it was that grieved and loved Julia at the funeral couldn't answer Angier's question, because he was not the Borden who tied the knot. One of those twins, forevermore, was innocent of the war it started and had to deal with it, and one twin triggered the war and lived with knowing that it was on his hands.
You clocking that Fallon is just Christian Bale immediately but then being unsure if Jackman was playing both roles is hilarious!
I love the fact that when Hugh asked Christian what knot did you tie and he didn’t know because the other brother tied it
Probably the most underrated movie I've ever seen, I don't know how it isn't talked about more. My favorite Christopher Nolan movie besides TDK
Say it louder for the people in the back ✨✨
This and Cinderella man
@@backhandsauce2132 Never heard of this, added it to my list. I’m excited to watch it

Disguised Christian Bale - Oh, that's Christian Bale
Not disguised Hugh Jackman - Wait, is that Hugh Jackman or no?
😂

Batman vs. Wolverine with special guest David Bowie, LET'S GOOOOOO!!
A fantastic movie! Thanks for the reaction. Your channel keeps me going and gives me a reason to re-watch some of my favorites. Appreciate ya 🤘
That was fun to watch. Great job! In case no one mentioned it Tesla was played by David Bowie (famous singer) RIP.
Top 3 movie for me all time. Love me some Major reactions. This is gonna be good.
Glad you reacted to this. I don’t know a lot of people who have seen this that didn’t like it. The problem is not enough people have seen it.
“That looks like Christian Bale from the back.” - Major
I believe that's what I heard about Tesla too. I think you're right. Very interesting guy.
Definitely one of my top 10 movies of all time!
Since you liked this, you might enjoy The Illusionist. It came out around the same time and also has a similar plot in regards to magic tricks!
Absolutely one of Nolan's sickest movies...Definitely amongst his top 5🔥🔥🔥
typically dope reaction, man.
This is actually my favourite movie of all-time ! :)

my favourite Nolan movie. It´s barely talked about and I don´t know why. My top 3 Nolan is: 1º The Prestige, 2º Oppenheimer and 3º Memento
Glad you liked it so much. It's my favorite Nolan movie
What a great movie this is. The best part is that you can enjoy it over, and over, and over again :)
Been missing watching you. Im finally home and ready to binge what i missed. Thanks Major
hey what up Austin welcome back

Thiught it was just ok could have been a great movie, was more about George westinghouse than edison or tesla
The argument was "alternative current" or "direct current".
I'm not sure if there really was much difference but, there was money to be made.
Love christian bale 👉 Also we gonna get Jeepers Creepers 2 by Christmas ya think? 😉❤️
Great movie 💕
Finally!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉

Your confusion about Hugh playing two roles is confusing to me. 👀 Lay off the sauce.
It’s like you’re seeing 1 actor play 2 parts for the first time.
Right! Thank u
