  • Extended footage of Scots v Newington 1stXV on 26 July 2014, Sydney Schools rugby GPS r4. Scots scored 15 tries to nil, the first is at 2:38, the best one is at 7:24 [finished off by halfback Theo Strang]. Conditions were muddy, it rained hard the night before. Newington fly half Bailey Kuenzle went off injured early in the first half. Was a tough one to record, sun in my eyes and too bright to see anything on the LCD digicam screen. Plenty of air shots! The background music [Deadmau5] is added to muffle the wind noise distortion picked up by the cam's mike.

It doesn't look nearly as bad as the score-line suggests. The match is quite similar to the Germany-Brasil World Cup Cup (different code, but don't hate me). The Scots team, like the Germans, were just faster, more cohesive, and more skillful. They did not rely on brute strength to overcome the Newington side. I watched the whole video and the safety of the players was never an issue. It was just not Newington's day.

To suggest there was any danger to the Newington students is absurd. If you don't put yourself in a position to make a tackle, you can't get hurt. Newington appeared to have many opportunities in attack too. The Scots boys make a break and have plenty of support, sometimes up to 5 or 6 support players to choose from. Scots are obviously superior athletes but are also well coached.

Someone should teach these boys how to tackle and pass a ball, never seen such terrible attempts.

More about the stupid scholarships and imported players than anything else. These schools should really be on an even playing field, but money changes all that.

Most boys in the 1st team started at scots at a pretty young age, so if they can actually give them scholarship since like what? yr7, then scots must've have like a really good sense at seeking potential within individuals.

Honestly, from what the video protrayed (live in england completely neutral perspective) : White team looked not up for the game in defence and very lacklustre in attack, just didn't seem bothered. Also not very good hands or support play.
On the other hand the yellow team only won because they were, fitter (not bigger), cleverer, more eager to play the game, not scared in defence and clearly an excellent coached team who knew how to support ball carriers. Physical both teams very similar just white team horribly lacksidaisical. while yellow team absolutely stunning TEAM performance

the white team had a momentous bout of gastric in the week prior and were missing several players, still a softcock performance though...

All imported from the prep school. I'm a Newington old boy and a Scots old boy, guess which school do you think I sent my boys to.

Scots are simply a far superior team. There's nothing further to explain. Why complain ? If you want to beat Scots - then get faster, smarter, fitter, more focussed and more dedicated. You'll need brave hearts and bold minds.

Why the big 'hoo haa' about kids playing rugby? Hardly relevant or of interest to majority of people. As long as they are having fun, that is all that should matter at their age.
