alot of people who live in KL are actually from outside of KL so that's one of the reasons they cant go back to celebrate eid as interstate travel is banned....yes its true , for me though here in Kuching, we know our neighbours atleast up to 20 houses or so from my parents house..so once if their is wedding in this vicinity, then there is a big possiblity we will be invited and attendance is mere compulsary... in Islam neighbours are considered to be in the boundary of atleast 40 houses..knowing our neighbours indeed plays an important role in our culture..sadly this culture starting to diminish with time especially in big cities , maybe people in big cities are too busy with work and thus ignore or don't want to spend time to know their neighbours...personally that's why I prefer living in small city as its more of a close knitted society...its just my personal preference though 👍👍...but its a different scenario if you live in village(kampung) though, its typical if you know the whole villagers in the village 😁☺😊

I suspect the swag bird character was modelled after Datuk M. Daud Kilau who is a famous folk/ dangdut singer active during the late 60s till mid 90s. He's famous for his flamboyant stage presence with glittery wardrobe and hip roll. The bird had shirt made out of songket fabric. Songket is traditional fabric weaved with gold or silver thread giving shimmering effect.
10:22: Background audio is Takbir of Eid Al-Fitr. It's a loud repeated chant recited before Eid Al-Fitr prayer.
Poji is a character who is working as a delivery guy, away from his real home. He seems to be sharing a rented house with 2 other delivery gais. Poji clearly misses his mom and can't return home for Eid Fitr due to interstate or inter district travel ban in place during Covid. Miles got that one.

Yes phez, malaysian tend to know their neighbors especially in rural area or a village area, bcuz when we are in a trouble or in a bad situation they would be the first to help us out and vice versa, me and my family know almost every folks in my village, especially the ones who have been long living here.

13:54 Depends on the neighborhood actually, sometimes friendly, sometimes busy body. But in my neighborhood you do your thing i do mine which i like it that way to avoid conflict, but we always smile when we saw face to face and thats it. FYI, my neighborhood mix all races with majority chinese, followed by malay and indian. So, thats mean when it comes to holiday/festive season entire area full of fireworks non stop until next morning.

For me, in Ramadhan, none of us could go back to our hometown. So what we did was, we exchanged what we cook daily with the neighbours. In the evening, i’d hear them calling out from the fence to take a plate of what they had cooked for iftar ( break fasting ) and i also gave them what we cooked. It’s like getting a surprise food everyday throughout the Ramadhan. It was really fun!

Another probable reason why this one is animated is because Petronas is a HUGE company. they got the dough $$$$ to spend on a song/music, animation and voice-over actors. Those voice-over actors are not just any run-of-the-mill actors. Dato' M.Nasir is a legendary singer and composer in Malaysia and Datin Marlia Musa (the one who did the voice for Mak Jah) is his wife. She's quite a legendary actress as well. Mak Jah is Poji's neighbor. The first scene where Mak Jah disowned Poji was just a daydream of Poji (cause he missed his mum so much and haven't seen her in a long time). In reality, for me and many of us Malaysians who live far away from their family, this year was the second year we celebrate Eid without our family. It's like Christmas for you guys....it's a fun and highly anticipated celebration time with your family. But then now due to Covid, there's an interstate and interdistrict travel restriction so you can't go back home to your family and celebrate Eid. It was really sad and depressing. Tomorrow (June 1st) we're gonna start a 2-weeks lockdown....so these 2 weeks will be quite a depressing weeks for us 😔😔

    Hi Phezz & Miles..
The advertisement shows the festive Hari Raya atmosphere this year,
because the Covid-19 season is now,
We all can't celebrate Hari Raya with the family, because it is still in the Movement Control Order(MCO),
    Same to me too,
Cannot going to village to celebrate Eid Mubarak with my Mom's & my siblings...
Just celebrate of Hari Raya with the neighbors...
    And just stayed at home...
That is the motive of the advertisement by Petronas...
    Hope you both like it...
    Salam Dari Malaysia 🇲🇾🌹

During Aidilfitri (Eid-ul-fitr as alternate spelling) this year, no one was supposed to balik kampung, or return to our hometowns. Currently we're under lockdown, though interstate travel has been limited since I think 2019. Don't recall it being lifted except under special circumstances. Poji missed his mum so much, he was hallucinating her whenever he saw Mak Jah. Poji's mother is at his hometown, celebrating yet another year of Aidilfitri apart.
Generally, the neighbourhood for some is like a huge extended family. Especially in close knit communities. We call older people, like middle aged or married or both, uncle and aunty regardless of race and relation. The names in the chat signified the different races all coming together and being sad that Mak Jah couldn't make her rendang. Poji is not related to Mak Jah, he and his housemates are simply her next door neighbours.
Rendang is a traditional dish served during Aidilfitri, along side other traditional dishes.
Mak typically means mum. But can also be used as a title meaning aunty (short for Mak Cik). Mak Jah is what people call the lady, but her actual name could be anything from Khadijah to Maimunah.
Syukur is pronounced as Syuk-kur pronounced his name.

Hi guys...Mak Jah is Poji's neighbour. Since raya around the corner Poji cant go back to his village because of Covid 19. He misses his mother alot so when he saw Mak Jah face he imagining he was talking to his mom. If you notice Mak Jah face resemble like Poji's mom...

Poji (the boy's name) is that old lady's neighbor!!! But that poji can't go back to his village (where his mother at) due to corona virus pandemic,so he imagining or hallucinating that mak jah ( the old lady ) is his own Mother!!! At 9:27 is his own mother *mak* appear. He asking his mother if she got enough money to spend and said he can't go back home. Its Malays tradition in every Hari Raya (Celebrating days after finishing one month of fasts) to go back home to see their parents as a strong family's bonding, this is the teaching from Islamic religion!!! To make all parents happy to see their grown up childrens & grandchildrens!!! Thats for whom who got jobs at cities . If someone stay near their parent's house they also will visit their parents in the morning of Hari Raya. Mostlly malay peoples they can't bare to be faraway from their parents in the morning of Hari Raya & they will cry!!! This is Because it is the very great sentimental Value for them & they also gathering with their siblings (brothers & sisters) & their relatives, its the Strong Bonding for Malays Muslim peoples & this Strong Bonding is from our GOD's Direct Order. Only hipocrits, atheist & lame malay peoples will deny this tradition or forgot their parents.

in our culture we mingle around well with neighbours and respect them as if they are part of our family members. In most of residentially areas like this we usually know well few neighbour houses near us. Some residential areas they even have chat group among them as potray in this commercial. At the moment, we are not allow to travel inter-state, at some red zone areas we are not allow to even travel inter-district or more than 10km radius from our house if not deem necessary. Even me myself have not being able to celebrate Eid twice in two year a row. Its kind of sad since Eid is the time where we met family, relatives, neighbours and friends by visiti g each others. We used to organize open houses throughout syawwal month for us to visit each others. But covid have take away this tradition and we are trying to adapt to this new norm but at the same time try to preserve our tradition accordingly. Food is the most missed by all since certain traditional cuisines were only cooked for special ocassion like Eid i.e lemang, ketupat, rendang and etc. Its not because we couldnt buy it, but our mom's cooking is always the best.

But they are too poor to buy their own cooking gas, even they just eat bread only. They always think their neighbours are thinking their own family and not even looking at them. Some clarification is needed here. The lockdown really destroyed our Eid. For us Eid is celebrated on the first day of the month of Shawal where we have an open house clebration. During the whole month we can still visit our friends and even our enemy cannot close their doors to us for it is a month of forgiveness and to start anew. But because of the lockdown we can't even celebrate with our family who are not living in the same household. The video exaggerate a little when it show that the lady can't even be neighborly to the bachelors next door, but she reveal at the end that the lockdown is only temporary and it can't erase our gregarious nature. Personas suggests subtly that one of their product (gas tank) is as strong as Eid the be the reason to forgive and end all enmity. The Malay, just like the Hindi culture like to express their emotions through melodramatic songs.
