Passive, i've invested Aus Super International.
I'm thinking about leaving AMP & MLC and doing my own SMSF in STAKE. The deal seems too good to be true. I'd love to get your input.
I think I will go with Host Plus high growth indexed. Then swap to Rest indexed once Hostplus’ total annual fees exceeds $378. Since rest is capped at $378 annually for indexed options.
Should be around the $530K mark!
That sounds like a solid option! I switched my partner over to Host Plus high growth indexed just recently!
Hi Ray, are you able to go through the spreadsheet in a separate video, I had a close look and do not think either Australia duper or cbus have a passive income in the DIY mix of international and Aussie share at all, have I being reading this correctly?
The DIY mix has assumed a 40/60 mix between Australia and International shares. There isn’t any defensive assets in there
If you're talking about 'passive management' rather then 'passive income', Australian super and CBUS do not offer any options that are passively managed. Australian super does have 'Indexed diversified', but it is not a versatile fund with its fixed 25% defensive assets.
Not so sure. Before i retired i invested in an active fund that outperformed passive returns over an extended period 10 years. My only regret was that I did not have a higher weighting.
For us illeterates, could someone please tell us which is the best (or top 3) superannuation fund as per the spreadsheet? Thank you ❤️❤️
Passive!!
Passive.. you will have to excuse my lack of knowledge but how do you know if the investment option is actively or passively managed? Great Vid
You can usually tell based on the investment objective, but if not the spreadsheet I linked lists out all of the passively managed options available.
I’ve invested my super into a mix of Au and Int shares for close to 15yrs. Passive management all the way 😊
Fantastic!
Passive :)
Hope it’s okay to ask, but is there any specific reason why you don’t have insurance (death, TPD etc) with your super fund?
Just a personal preference for the time being, when I start a family and have a mortgage I’ll definitely take out insurance
@@raymondla That totally makes sense!
I just started looking more closely at my super fund and realised that I have been paying for insurance ranked High Risk even though I am just an officer worker (which is Low Risk). Changed it over and now the fees are much lower but massive face palm moment as I’ve been paying for insurance for years (even before I got a mortgage). I’m glad you haven’t been throwing money away like I have been :D
I’ve been with Aware Super since May 2023 and just changed from 100% High Growth (default) to 100% International Shares. I know it’s a bit risky but it seems to be doing the best so let’s see what happens :)
@@linziibinzii Ive never heard of aware super. Are they new? why are you with them if ytou dont mind me asking?
@@hairypawter8475 I just checked online - First State Super and VicSuper merged to become Aware Super.
@@hairypawter8475 First State Super and VicSuper merged to become Aware Super.
For myself personally, I was with VicSuper as they were the default super fund for my workplace. After the merger, we all got moved over to Aware Super. They have won quite a few awards and their members portal is easy to navigate. I think they are worth considering if you want more say over where your super is being invested.
Sorry - I've looked and looked but cannot find the link to the workbook. Thanks
I’ve added it in the description just now! Apologies

PASSIVE
Passive. So is Aware Super the best? is that who you are with?
@hairypawter8475: Hey there, I can’t seem to post a reply to your comment to me (tried twice and it keeps vanishing so I’ll reply here).
‘First State Super’ and ‘VicSuper’ merged to become ‘Aware Super’. I was part of VicSuper as it was the default super fund through my workplace. I think they are worth checking out if you want more control over where your super is being invested. They have also won a number of awards and their members portal is easy to navigate.
They definitely have the lowest fees out of all the indexed investment options
How to change to passive though???
By changing your investment option!
Passive, where is the swanky koala link 😊
I’ve added it to the description just now!

Passive - Ray. Is the pre-mix host plus high growth indexed(48% Aus share + 52% Int Share) passive or active manage. I could not seem to find the DIY options on their website.
