In today's Shoe Care Academy episode Pretty Boy Rob walks you though how to clean the soft bright blue nubuck on these AJ5's using the RESHOEVN8R Essential Cleaning Kit. Cleaning nubuck can be tough, but with all the steps in this video I am confident you will be a Shoe Care Specialist in no time.
To achieve these results we used the pretreatment method and completely avoided the washing machine, then after air drying the sneakers we saw a little bit of color fade and fixed that up with Mink Oil. Overall, the shoe cleaned up great and held up even better!

I like your videos. I see the stains don’t lift off suedes. The “ankle bubble” on those 5’s still had dirt discoloration. Is there any method to lifting stains completely?

I'm wanting to restore my pair of SB Dunk Broncos. They have tumbled leather with nubuck on the toe box and heels. How would you recommend cleaning them, and should I clean the midsoles first or do them till the end? Any response would be welcomed and I'd appreciate your advice. 🙏

The Soft Bristle Brush on the uppers, but all three brushes are good to clean different parts of the sneaker.

I spilled a bit of bleach on the toe. I used vinegar to clean it which helped it a lot. But the bleach of course pulled the color. I now need to use dye to get it back to that blue. What color and brand of dye would you recommend?

Please follow up on this a lot of suede/ nubuck shoes tend to need to be dyed and it’d be nice to know the best way to get it to look factory

I have a pair of used AJ4 Breds I bought from Goat. The pictures looked clean and the condition just stated “used”. It arrived with a lot of cracks on the nubuck. Any chance you have recommendations on how fix flex cracking?
Rip to those bred 4s can’t fix that
buying used older nubuck shoes is generally not a good idea, if the nubuck is cooked you're out of luck
that seller also has a video here on youtube explaining the process on how to fix that cracked nubuck using his product
Unfortunately there isn't much that you can do for those.
you could either do the tennis ball method or nubuck powder works i heard should look into those both
I know its not a popular shoe but what about a cleaning video about the Curry 4 flotro, an all suede shoe.

Did all that cleaning and then used over lacing which makes the shoe look like a UA.
I have your guys mink oil I thought it was only for suade so if I use it on nubuck it’ll work the same as suade shoes ?

URGENT QUESTION: I have the olive Travis lows. They have a glue mark on the suede toe box. It’s not coming off with the dry suede kit. How do I remove the glue???
Unfortunately there isn't a ton to do for glue stains.
U try the eraser? I've used it to get glue off of material on tounge and stuff on my trophy room 7s

I have these same shoes and the color has changed. They look like completely different shades of blue. Almost a purple ish hue. Any way to fix that? I assume one bled more than the other
I would try some Mink Oil and see if that helps.
I followed your steps exactly and the color on them got faded as hell, I'm broke and I can't afford another pair, thanks a lot.
We are very sorry to hear that. Did you apply Mink Oil to the sneaker to bring back the color? Unfortunately all of these pairs have the potential to bleed due to the dye that the factory uses.

Hello, Alex. I came here to inform you that the baby oil does work. The colour is a little bit off But way better than the faded look in my opinion. But some baby oil in a container, dip a very soft brush (toothbrush for example) and apply it to the faded area. Give it time to dry and your shoes will look very simmiliar to What they used to!

Don’t blame them. This is the risk you take when cleaning nubuck and suede. You have to be absolutely careful and also use the mink oil.

Dude I dipped my AJ 5 UNCs in water now there’s a stain kinda thing,a spot where the color is darker then the rest of the shoe I tried drying it out but it is still there what should I do

There is probably a water mark, you would need to clean the entire shoe evenly and allow it to air dry

@@aDriAn0904 Hey what did you do to remove the water marks? I cleaned my shoes with water today and half my shoe is dark blue now and some is even faded to very light blue, the colour has completely ruined the shoe, which looks like it has been worn for 10 years now.
If I knew at first this was gonna happen, I would have bought some other AJ5s .
@@sar3388 did you wash the whole shoe, i mean if you did idk what happened honestly, like when my shoes got a water stain, i just washed the whole shoe with a soft brush and shoe cleaning liquid, then i put it out to dry, thats it..but i agree with you, i should have gotten other AJ5s,lol

Oil unfortunately is a really hard stain. It would help, but it really depends if the oil soaked into the material.

@@RESHOEVN8R The black part that shines between the white sole and the black leather is very damaged, and the black dye on the leather part is a little bit chalky, basically with a little paint on the leather and if you could repair the part in the middle that shines it would be like new.

Thank you 🙂. After shoe cleaning suede or nubuck would be crunchy or rough. Hence, it would require resetting the nap to get that smoother texture.

To clean your suede or nubuck shoes, I suggest 2 highly recommended kits to clean your shoes. One is the Dry Suede kit and the other is the Essential Shoe Cleaning kit.

You can get suede wet, but it is super tricky. The sneaker has to be cleaned evenly and the shoe really has to dry evenly to avoid water marking
I suppose to believe the shoe is this dirty with NO creases on the toe box...and that translucent sole will have a yellowish tent to it as well aoncsidwring the shoe was so dirty

@@RESHOEVN8R To be honest, I work with shoes too. I know how hard is to get some stains out of it. Show us some real cleaning of messy , dirty and really used shoes. Not brand new shoes you just made "dirty" for purpose. Dirt has to sit a little bit so it can be called REAL dirt.

We would recommend brushing the suede in multiple directions with a dry medium bristle brush, this should help reset the nap of the suede.
