I love this series, and how it was able to get away with exaggerating and joking about history, and yet have young kids ultimately interested in what really happened. They don't make shows like this anymore. After this episode, I looked up John L. Sullivan, and my gosh that fight is a lot more intense! Also, his mustache was not as heavy as the show (duh) made him look striking as a heavyweight champion!
@joyunicycle I don't have the DVD series of Peabody's Improbable. It definitely deals with world and American history. Even though it has nothing to do with science. It has nothing to do with Brian May, who has gone from teen rock star to astrophysicist.
I always wondered how Sherman kept that big head from tipping him over after all his head is bigger than his whole body. He was a nerd before the word nerd became a thing.
While this battle certainly was epic, I cannot imagine a boxing match today lasting a staggering 75 rounds. No man can last that long. Also, how is corned beef and cabbage considered Irish?
I looked it up, and the boxing match truly lasted that long until Kilrain's manager finally gave up, since he consistently failed to knock Sullivan down. I think the only reason corned beef and cabbage was included was to reference that John L. Sullivan was born to Irish immigrants.
_"It's-a no use, mister, this man's-a mustache won't-a cut; I've ruined five-a pair of scissor, four combs and-a half a pair of tweezer."_ Mama mia! 😆

John L. Sullivan in 1888. Peabody mentioned Maureen O'Hara.
I get it 😆😆😆

Takes 1 2 no 1
From Jay Ward to Sam Singer (Garfield Goose and Friends Only)
Another 1, where the central subject didn't have any dialogue.
Bad joke reference @ 4:52.
Peabody and Sherman often made those kind of jokes

Actually, it's more Irish American than Irish.
@@janebyrne6463 Hmm. Really?
How did that dish come about then?

Was John l a karate champion
Sherman talks to much
He's only 6 years old! It's natural for little kids to be curious & ask questions about this & that
@@j.i.r608 but not steal peabodys spotlight
He's never been able to do that
