thanks! can you now please tell me how to turn on my computer?
Haha, so edgy and funny 🙄
thank you! It took me a while to come up with it, but I'm happy with the results@@lokbdasmf7866
Yes, there are certainly more precise ways to cut audio. Sometimes it will sound un-natural to cut at a certain point but I prefer to edit by ear and you can always Ctrl + Z if it doesn't sound quite right.
Interesting. I agree that cutting out breaths for speech based content (especially news) could sound unnatural. However, for radio imaging, promos and commercials I would say that editing out breaths is an essential post production process. Once you get the audio in the multitrack to complete the mix you can always add a bigger gap to give the right sound.
It sounds un-natural because there are no pauses. Wouldn't it be better to mute the breaths?
Depends on what it’s for audiobook no but commercials yes
Thanks for adding that. Audio editing techniques differ depending on what you're editing so as you say always bear that in mind when editing. Thanks again
Thanks. My current mic is the Audio-Technica AT4033.
You can remove audio below a certain level. This is known as a 'gate'. I can show you how on my channel if you'd like?
Those settings all look pretty good to me. Try downloading the latest driver for your sound card. If that doesn't work please provide more information and I or a member of this community will help.
I'd suggest using the auto-heal feature instead of deleting the audio out right :)
Thank you very much for the informative and helpful content. I am using mac, and I need to remove the breaths and clean between the waves on my VO tracks, but there is no delete button. is there a shortcut or a way to remove the breaths on mac instead of using the drop-down list and choosing silence? Thanks in advance!
Check your audio hardware settings are correct in preferences. Good luck!
Adobe Audition is the best sound removal and noise tidying tool I know.
Audition has some pretty neat tools for cleaning up musical tracks such as the DeClipper.
It's hard to do well unless you have an instrumental of the track. If you have that you can align the original and instrumental in the multitrack and edit at the correct point.
I am sure there will be more musical goodies to come again in the future!
Thanks for the comment.
Mike. What if I need to get rid of breathing but maintain the timing of my vocals?
You can use a noise gate to do this. I have a tutorial on my channel Setting A Noise Gate With Laser Accuracy - Adobe Audition CC
You may contact via the Music Radio Creative website.
Seems like this would be OK unless you are also also syncing the audio with a video.
Excellent suggestion. Thank you.
Your welcome:
Of for some reason some section need steeper curve to silence (let say, break is much longer than curve is programed for), than you simply apply effect 2x or 3x (F3). It will "eat out" the beggining and the end of curve (middle is mute already from the first apply); but smooth again.
regards.
why didn't you replace the breaths with silence or background noise?
Geoffrey Jerome because the tutorial says 'how to delete breaths'...
What are you looking to do?
Brilliant, thanks for sharing!
That sounds worth checking out. I like iZotope.
Get the right elements and mix them in the multitrack.
thank you for this...I'm a student and we have 3 radio ads to submit tomorrow and I know nothing about editing
Thank you.
Top tip, thanks!
The best way is to work a breath with envelope where beginning and end of "mute" section is at 100%, than fast curve to 0, and at the end curve again to 100%. Only that way it's natural; not taking time out, not making sudden silence.
Personally after I heard it with the breaths cut out it didn't sound natural. The best was is who ever is reading needs to breath and not make any noise. I remember years ago when I was at the BBC World Service some American guy cam in showing everyone who to cut other breaths from newscasts and show promos. It just made stuff sound un-natural and off.
I expected something to identify these breaths automatically
I have a 30 minute file with a lot of breaths. It's a pain to remove them manually :S
If the breaths are significantly quieter than the rest of the audio you could try a noise gate or you could try using Waves DeBreath plug in available at mrc.fm/waves
Great, thanks!
Thank You! This was very helpful. Just subscribed and will be checking out more videos.... any other videos you recommend for pod casters on your page you made? I'm new to pod casting and need clear, easy, instructions using adobe audition. THANKS
Hi, hope you're enjoying your podcast journey. Check out this video you might find helpful th-cam.com/video/96TLMPtcYkk/w-d-xo.html
Thanks, Mike, how to delete all breaths at one click?
It's not a one click operation I'm afriad. There is a plug in available from Waves called DeBreath which you could try mrc.fm/waves) or you could try a noise gate.
@@MikeRussell Thank you so much. Without your reply, I guess I would waste my time trying to do so. I appreciate your help. ☺️
I'm not sure I understand?
can you make a video for beginner? i want to do a singing cover, i don't know how to insert, how to merge, how to undo effect how to delete a track that i have sung
شكرا لك يا bengajimajdi بارك الله فيك
everyone knows this. just useless. how about for a 3 hour podcast?
The best edit you can make for a 3-hour podcast is to make it into a 1-hour podcast.
@@GilbertTang The best edit you can make for a 1-hour podcast is to delete the recording.
@@ilusions4 haha dead channel
Thanks for your amazing videos! Another channel suggested fading in or out breaths or taking out only the middle third (as opposed to cutting it out entirely) to make it sound more natural..wondered what your thoughts are on this? Thank you

Editing out 'breath' pauses is becoming widespread. It has however a big annoying downside.
'breath pauses' are natural to recorded speech, their removal is disturbing to listen to for the brain,
Thanks for the comment 😃
Thanks very helpful :)
كيف تعمل ريمكس في الادوبي اديشن وشكرا لك
Writing a plugin is not my area of expertise. Good luck with the editing!
I hate how adobe audition kinda left us music people in the dark and just focused on radio. I still use AU3 cause its still better than cs6
I know I'm late to the game with this, but this isn't super helpful if you're doing audio that needs to sync with video.
True that with video you need to consider timings.
See my other comment.
I want to eliminate breaths, but leave the space they're in. Otherwise, if you just delete them, you lose the pauses for effect and the rhythm of the speech.
Hi, you might want to consider a noise gate? This would eliminate the breaths but leave the space in the audio. th-cam.com/video/l3GyJmNmAHA/w-d-xo.html
great
No, you can't just delete breath. it's normal.

😂😂😂😂
You forgot "pops".
Apologies for the oversight, thank you for bringing up 'pops' as an important element to edit out in audio production, just like breaths and clicks.
;)
Please get rid of unwanted accent...eeew.
