      It goes to the definition of a serial killer: a person, who commits a series of murders, often with no apparent motive and typically following a characteristic, predictable behavior pattern. They have an urge to kill usually based in sexual and/or psychological urges.
      This guy had a very clear motive, he killed for gain and for convenience (to avoid getting caught for his stealing). It was a deliberate, thought through decision on his part, not coz he had any urge to kill, but for expedience. Hence, while having murdered several ppl he does not meet the definition of a serial killer.

      Barry Jive ....well, 20th century. When Ted Bundy killed, there was no state system, let alone US system. Same with BTK. That system took a while. If you Killed in one county, you often didn’t raise alarm bells in other counties. Often it just took coos overhearing information about a case in a neighboring district.

    For the confused: Landru was called " Bluebeard" after the French fairytale character who murdered a series of wives.

    I like these French cases from the turn of the 19th century very much; most interesting, however, for English speaking consumption (UK, US, CAN, AU, NZ) the show would be much better if a translator spoke over the French speakers, translating the French into English. Trying to speed read the subtitles is no fun and you can't watch the pictures and speed read at the same time. Also, the white type on top of the white fields in the pictures get lost and you have no idea what is being said. If the producers insist on just having subtitles, then put up a black box for the white type of the subtitles, make the size of the type (pitch) big, and give plenty of time to read such AND look at the pictures. (Really, it's a lot easier and better if you just get a native English speaker to translate what the French speakers are saying.)

    • @tomarsandbeyond
      @tomarsandbeyond 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I am totally opposite to that. I want to hear the original, not someone dubbing over it, and reading the subtitles is much faster for me than people speak, even in English. I know little French, but enough to tell minor differences between the subtitle translations and what is being said. If you have some sort of reading deficit you can slow down TH-cam to play at 3/4 speed.
