I think you've convinced me to do babble! I am trying to learn Spanish. I am a second generation Mexican American. Recently I went back to my roots and went back to the family ranch In Chihuahua Chihuahua Mexico. We also went back to the reservations in the Chihuahua Sierra mountains to visit some of my grandmother's Roots with the Raramuri in the Tarahumara Nation. It was such a beautiful and humbling experience. I would love to be able to go back and fully converse with the people and learn all the history of the Tarahumara. It would be wonderful to be able to teach my two boys who are part French Canadian from their mother, how to speak Spanish so they could communicate with their great grandparents. Also going back to visit my family on the ranch would be amazing to surprise them with a full length vocabulary. Thank you for the review! Sending love from SoCal 🤙🏽
Thank you for the great review. My reason for finally trying to learn Spanish is that my husband is from Honduras and my in-laws only speak Spanish. It would be amazing if after 10 years of marriage I could finally converse with them more than a simple, “hola!” “como estas?” and “te amo.” 🤦🏻♂️
Thanks for your work! I was about to go with Rosetta Stone after being thoroughly disappointed with Duo. But the reason I hated Duo was because they offered next-to-no grammar instruction or context in English. After watching your detailed reviews of Rosetta and Babbel, I know to choose Babbel for my learning style. You just saved me a bunch of money! I will definitely purchase through your link!
Great review, and I agree that the mandatory review is helpful for remembering vocabulary. I'm using Babbel to learn Latin American Spanish. Now I just have to do the live classes.
Heyo. I really like the diversity of lessons that Babble offers. If I ever get to learning Spanish, I think I would choose Babble, or at the very least consider it over Rocket Language. I like that it offers lifetime access.
Excellent review! I want to learn French since I was introduced in high school, love French culture, and it’s a second language where I live! Thanks John :)
Excellent review! I’m learning Polish using some of the programs on your channel together with practicing w my fiancé so I can converse with him in Polish.
This is actually the app that I want to use to learn Spanish!! Thank you so much for the updated review, and reassuring my decision. I hope I can win this course from your giveaway! Thanks John
For that much time in the car, start with Pimsleur. They offer audio lessons with a special driving mode. Rocket Languages would also be a great option.
Useful video, thanks. You mention DuoLingo, Rocket, and Rosetta Stone, too. If you had to recommend one and only one, which would you recommend for a brand new learner of Spanish?
Thanks for the video!😄It was really helpful! I'm learning Spanish now because I love the way it sounds and just like learning languages. I'm also learning French at my university.
Thanks TPI for the great 2023 Babbel Spanish review. Eduardo appreciates the updated info. Babbel sounds like an excellent Spanish language learning app. The lessons and reviews sound fantastic! Eduardo was leaning toward Rocket, but now may go with Babbel. John have you thought about running for President? Gracias!
I got a lot of information from this review. I didn't look at the video at all. I could listen for hours. I would like to find and audio only Spanish learning with commentary. Much like "Spanish from scratch" Obsessed with Spanish. The commentary is minimal unfortunately and difficult to hear. I had found one once before that was great. I was not able to find it again. Any apps you could recommend that might fall into this category? Thank You!
In terms of Spanish, one thing I’d like to know for all the Spanish apps is whether they have both European and Latin American Spanish. Also, since I’m already at Intermediate level, I’d like to know what levels are offered. Thanks!
Please tell me the best way of learning French up to a fluent conversational level in 7 months as I will be going to start with my bachelors in Brussels this coming September and I need to be fluent in French before that in order to do part time jobs there which will be essential to my survival there and therefore I request you to kindly guide me to the best web possible to become fluent in French within 7 months within a modest budget.
I'm learning Spanish because I'm wanting to go to Mexico this coming Spring. Haven't settled on an app yet, but leaning towards Babble. Thanks for the review, it is very helpful!
As an Englishman I am looking to learn Spanish but Spanish as spoken in Spain, not Mexico or Latin America which Spanish friends have told me is different in many aspects. Does the Babbel course offer Spanish from Spain or perhaps the option to choose which version you learn? It's one of the few things not mentioned on your excellent review, thanks.
It's sort of a blend where they call out regional differences. I would say the main focus is Latin American Spanish, but they highlight how Castilian Spanish (Spain) differs.
@@TestPrepInsightIt's significantly important for me - as I’m sure for most Europeans - when choosing to spend money an app, that they offer Castellan Spanish. I have family in Spain so this is crucial for me. Consider highlighting this in your reviews of apps :-) E.g. subscribing to Duolingo is a no go for this reason alone.
John. For every app, one thing I want to know is whether the app will work in Landscape mode. I learn on a tablet with a keyboard. It’s in landscape. I signed up for FluentU and then cancelled because they don’t support landscape mode.
I’m currently learning German and Spanish. I learned German in middle and HS and want to work towards fluency. Spanish because I need a break from German sometimes lol
Sorry if this was asked already. I didn’t see it in the comments but I might have missed it. My question is, if you sign up for the 1 year does it charge you the small fee monthly or does it charge the full year at once? The app says yearly charge but doesn’t specify.
It charges the annual fee at one time upfront. At least that's how it's been working on the 3-month subscription I've been on. It charges my card quarterly
I’m learning Arabic with hopes of actually mastering it someday and becoming a translator. I’ve only recently started, but going strong. I’m on a smoking hot 23 day streak!!
I'm learning spanish to better understand and communicate with my customers. I cut hair in a shopping center with a mexican meat market and health clinic so I get customers who speak mostly spanish and would like to talk to them the way I speak to others
Thx for your video. I had been using Rosetta Stone’s lifetime option, but for some reason I no longer have access, and, tech support isn’t answering. So, I’m looking around and I appreciate your review.
I know you can with Duolingo, but not sure about Babbel. They do use an English subdomain to sell the apps, so quite possibly. Just might have to purchase it through the German subdomain (?)
I’m reviewing this review again because Babbel has a great Black Friday deal going. These reviews are SOOOOO helpful. You do an excellent job. Thanks for all the helpful content.
I have considered learning Spanish or German. I took 2 years of German in high school so I am more familiar with it. However Spanish might be more useful living in California.
I'm learning Spanish atm as I want to get better connected with the culture; my friends; my heritage; as well as really enjoying Spanish media. I have the goal of eventually becoming a polyglot; Spanish is just first on the list!
Answer: I'm learning Arabic and Japanese and work a bit on my English. Why arabic? Because it's just beautiful and I have lots of arabic speaking friends Why Japanese? Because I like to watch Anime in Japanese and want to understand it Why English? Because it's the most important language for business and work. I'm a Engineering major in Germany and English is really important for engineers
As a Spanish Babble looks pretty good for those who want to learn and be dedicated. Answer for the question: I’m learning German because I have a few friends from Germany and id like to learn another language.

haha that's an awesome reason to learn (and the same reason why a lot of people do). Gotta talk to the in-laws! Good luck :)

It's a great reason to learn. I see a lot of nurses and caregivers cite this as a reason they're learning. Thanks for what you do and good luck!
Thanks for the Pros and Cons section of your language course reviews. Definitely, the most helpful on the internet to pick a course. Thanks again!

I’ve been playing around the idea of getting a babble subscription and this video really sealed the deal for me. Thanks for the info.

The best you can do to learn Spanish is…date a Hispanic chick😂😂😂
I drive for a living. Up to eleven hours a day. What platform would you suggest learning a new language?
For that much time in the car, start with Pimsleur. They offer audio lessons with a special driving mode. Rocket Languages would also be a great option.
Great review. Which app would you recommend for a truck driver wanting to learn Spanish. Thanks
Check out Pimsleur! They have a special driving mode with their audio lessons
Would like to learn more Spanish, now that I will be spending more time in Mexico!! Thanks for the information!
Any time! Thanks for watching!
Useful video, thanks. You mention DuoLingo, Rocket, and Rosetta Stone, too. If you had to recommend one and only one, which would you recommend for a brand new learner of Spanish?
Rocket Spanish. It is the most in-depth and intensive of those apps, but it is very effective. Check out our video review on that. Good luck!
@@TestPrepInsight Will do!! Thank you so much for your work and for *sharing* your thoughts.

Which language learning app teaches Castilian Spanish specifically? I really want to learn that one as I have no plans of ever visiting Latin America.
Pimsleur has a dedicated Castilian Spanish course. Check it out!
