    Nice modern design. Looks like it belongs in a artist’s studio. Fit and form appear to be on point. However the range is the ultimate limitation for e-scooters and motorcycles. 130 Km is about 80 miles but at what speed?? My commute is 50+ miles through freeways and streets at speeds of up to 75mph. Range on these bikes is drastically reduced by speed, weight and optional equipment. So far the closest e-motorcycle that’s come close to my needs is the Zero SR-S however pricing is as much as a R1250GS. BMW Motorrad has a long way to go if they want to tap into the long range commuter market

    The battery should be swappable, which would make this way more capable than it is.
    If the battery craps out, what will it cost me to replace it?

    • @bmwmotorrad
      @bmwmotorrad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Cerberus,
      Thanks for contacting us! Please get in touch with your local dealer for more information about the conditions and costs of the battery replacement. The local dealer can be found at www.bmw-motorrad.com/dealer. The battery is very powerful. You can charge your BMW CE 04 from 0% to 80% in just under 65 minutes at the BMW wall box or on the road at maximum charging conditions, for example.🔋
      Furthermore, there is a battery certificate for the BMW CE 04 with an extended warranty for the high-voltage cell modules. A loss of capacity can appear over the battery's life due to technical reasons and a natural wear and tear. If the net battery capacity of a new bike falls below 70% within the first 40,000 km or five years (regardless of the number of kilometres driven), there will be a replacement free of charge. If you have further questions, don't hesitate to contact us!😊🙌
      All the best,
      Your BMW Motorrad Team

Why is the storage compartment so out of reach compared to its predecessor, charge time reduction is a £850 extra! Why does a car battery in a bike weighing a good 1300kg less offer so little range?

    I don't like the fact that the global government lead us to electric mobility. If you like or not. It's a big lie this green mobility. The batteries use rare metals Which in order to mine them you pollute the environment. Also the electricity itself to produce it already used dirty methods. Think when we all use electricity. The last and the most important is the autonomy. With these small autonomies you can't travel, you can't do your jobs without thinking all the time the charging. I think that the global government They lead us to a life of prisoners in the cities. No travel without and without freedom. Unfortunately the good quality of life will be only for the rich elite. This very very expensive scooter is nice but only for rich people and only for a little ride inside the town. They decide for us without asking us what we really want.

    Nice but I don't get why you make optional the fast charging? and on top it is a "slow" charging IMO. I would want 80% in 15 minutes to 30 minutes that would be decent for the use in my view.

    • @Liberty4Ever
      @Liberty4Ever 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are technological limitations. Of course everyone wants electric vehicles that don't require charging and have infinite range but you can't have everything you can imagine, no matter how much you want it. What you want is simply not currently possible, and when it is, you'll probably want more.
      Love,
      An Electrical Engineer

    • @AMPJ08
      @AMPJ08 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Liberty4Ever I don't buy your simple argument. Making the fast charger an option ? that is milking the customer. And again BMW group has batteries that charge faster why not to give it to this scooter? else is just profit oriented decisions

    • @Liberty4Ever
      @Liberty4Ever 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AMPJ08 - Faster charging batteries are more expensive. The CE04 is already at the upper end of the price the market will bear because somebody must pay for all of the new engineering and development. For every new product, the cost is high so sales are low and the development costs are spread over fewer units. The early adopting consumers always pay the most.
      It's technically naive for you to claim that BMW has car batteries that charge more quickly so they should give scooter customers the same battery. Cars can charge faster because their batteries are actively cooled, sometimes by moving air but increasingly by water cooling with a coolant pump, radiator and fan. That would add too much weight, complexity and cost to a scooter. Again, there are technological limits to the current technology, and BMW is doing their best to make the appropriate engineering compromises. Some day, we'll have batteries with inherently faster charge times because charging is more efficient and doesn't produce as much heat, but until then, BMW engineers are doing the best they can.
      If you want to rant, you should direct similar comments to Zero. Their 2022 bikes are not cheap, and they're sold with hardware capabilities of speed and rsnge and recharge time that are behind a pay wall. The Zero Motorcycle app unlocks the full hardware potential by unlocking software. That seems very weasel to me. Tesla has a similar model where hardware is treated as software to be purchased with a high up front cost with recurring maintenance fees and software upgrade charges. I want an electric vehicle that I can buy and own, so I control it, I don't need to pay every time I use it or every time there is a software upgrade, and it's not constantly connected to the manufacturer's website so it can constantly spy on me.

    • @AMPJ08
      @AMPJ08 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Liberty4Ever thanks. Still seems to me that they didn't installed the latest gen of Batteries but instead the previous one. Some plug in hybrids from bmw have almost same capacity battery +2kwh and again find it odd to have optional the fast charging and even that seems to me slow for a scooter. Just that. I don't really care of their margin is better or they chose best cheapest platform (I doubt) I just think they could give better and they didn't.

    I like the CE04 and its emphasis on commuting, which is the natural application for a battery powered vehicle. The side opening storage that's large enough for a helmet is brilliant. I'd like to see a rear rack with options for quick detach storage - either a waterproof roll top backpack for students, or a waterproof roll top duffel with shoulder strap for groceries. Maybe two size options for each. In either case, when empty they should store flat and be secured against theft, preferably with an automatic electronic lock.
    Electric vehicles should be convenient transportation appliances. I don't want to mess with charging cords. I want to park my bike in the garage where it automatically charges at night using off peak power which is often less expensive because it's load leveling for power companies, with the option to press a button for immediate quick charging if I'm going out that evening.

    Nice scooter! How big is the compartment below the seat?

      Hi Raphaël, thanks for your question! 😊 The main compartment is 20l, but the CE 04 offers different compartment options.😉 The optional value top case, for example, has 25-30l, and the optional side cases have 10l each.

    Is this going to be available in India?

      I don't think it might fit on Indian roads considering the long wheel base n low ground clearance. The speed breakers that we have might become an impossible task for it to take

    Honestly if future BMW motorcycles will look like this, no thanks.
    And if the TFT works as well as on the new RTs, it will still cause ink to flow....

      Time will tell, but the same was said about the R80G/S in the 1980.
