Helix,Kick Axe, Killer Dwarves and Anvil . My early Canadian heavy metal heroes.
helix was god level back then along with lee aaron, headpins, harlequin, april wine, coney hatch, santers, briton rock.so many under appreciated canadian acts
@@trillrifaxegrindor4411
April Wine is the only one I recognize.
Maybe I heard songs by the others and I didn't know who they were.
I'll have to TH-cam them.
Canada does have some great metal bands, I had the Helix album Long way to Heaven when I was 15.
This should have been on the vice city soundtrack. What a blast !
Proudly from Regina, Saskatchewan…. The land of living skies, in 🇨🇦
..I was only 13 when this song came out....Wore my rags after that...Metal head in the 80,'s......The awsumest decade of all decades..🤘🏻
I wish Kick Axe or Van Halen or Steele Panther would have burst into one of my classes at school. Thanks for posting!
That slide across the table.... frickin' priceless!!! I MISS THE 80's.... Damn!
Absolutely fantastic album.
I got to see them here in Victoria, BC in the 80's in a club. My brother in law was a bouncer, so I got to meet them and get their autographs. It was an amazing show.
My older friends introduced me to this band along with Black n blue, Kix, and Cinderella in one night! What a time to be alive!
Played our graduation in 1984 Nanaimo Malaspina College. Played an amazing Led Zeppelin cover set too
I decided to learn how to play guitar and have an awesome instructor, didn't realize he is one of the guitarits in this band. Ray always amazes me when he plays during a lesson.
Ask Ray 9he remembers me from yorkton sask...... Robert Nordal from Split Image And or Private Stock.
I have been using the title of this song for years. Boss- "Where are you, you're supposed be in the office?" Me- "I'm on the road to rock now!" Rush needs to come rescue the Subdivisions kid in the video. RIP Professor.
George my first vocal coach. Awesome guy. His voice was amazing just singing in the trailer.
Kick Axe Walkin The Razor' Edge between genius and silliness.
Loved first two albums. Shame they never made it to the UK
Stop that you wimp!! Hahaha! Great song and fun video too! No pretentious rockstars here! Kick Axe got it just right.
Memories from the first time i saw this video on MTV late night, and going out the next day to get my copy on tape, still have my original. I want to get it on CD, but limited copies, all $40.
I saw them twice. Opening for Judas Priest in Florida and headlining in Denver. Got to meet them in Denver. Great guys.
Awesome! They were my first concert in Charlotte NC June 27, 1984. I was a Top 40 kinda girl, until my drummer boyfriend took me to that concert. lol They were AWESOME and while both bands were great, I enjoyed Kick Axe a little more. ;)
Saw them in Lakeland July 3, 1984. Was on the floor. Probably bumped into each other. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@catcain5119 cool, I was 14 in 84 and seen them open for Judas Priest in my city of Winnipeg, MB, I'm also a drummer lol
What a lucky guy you are...such great bands never came to Switzerland...
remember me as i played on a casette recorder heavy metal in school , i was punished from principal for this ; damn miss the 80' , the life was a party !
That was among some of the greatest intros I've seen in a music video. The song is also, shall I say, "kick-axe."
How cheerful and vivid the colors of the metalheads' costumes of that time ... how good that later the aesthetic of Judas won ... or the simplicity of Megadeth or Metallica
One of the great songs of the genre. Kick axe, killer dwarfs, coney hatch.... great Canadian heavy metal... triumph too.... and of course, the greatest band in the universe, rush.
Kick Axe rocks love this band
Fun fact, I believe this is the same band that picked up my friend and I when hitchhiking in Sacramento. This would have been 1984'ish? We were kinda wild back then, lol.
I’m from NJ and have always loved this band...glad to hear they are active again!
Old buds of mine from Regina Saskatchewan Canada. Used to jam together all the time waaaaay back. Check out my band 'Sons of thunder' might even have a couple of guests appearances from Kickaxe,Streetheart,Queencity Kids,CinemaX,Split Image..... Thk you for the Compliment! God bless n Merry Christmas.
LOVE KICK AXE!! Great stuff! Cool early video too...lol.....
One of my 1st albums I bought. Loved the cover so I had to buy it. When I played it OMG I was hooked
40 years Rock’n 🤘
That had to be one of the earliest Dean guitars with the classic headstock. Pretty sweet.
A classic song!! Good times :-)))))))
Right here now ! Sooo underrated!
It's cool how that giant nightmarish thing has the personality of a regular 80s metalhead.
Man if these guys burst into my classroom in highschool. I might have stayed
Thanks for uploading. This is one of the videos I saw back in '84 during the time I got into rock.
I remember this band in my early teens this is my favorite of their songs.
Ah, thé 80’s, I got a couple pair of acid wash jeans that are waiting for the comeback
O.K.
HU? DID? THIS?

Lol hey Ken, I have an acid washed denim trench coat I'm waiting to throw on again sometime!!!
Seen them in 87 I think in Dartmouth NS, good show!
What a great video and song !
Totally underrated back then!
Ok this is the best music video ive seen since through the fire and flames. This is the good side of cringey 80’s videos
I came here from Eddie Trunk's podcast about Canadian bands.
Nostalgia da porra ohh epoca foda que não volta mais
“Why that’s Kick Axe” lol
all my youth....
ummm 2024 almost 50, and I just discovered Kick Axe.
great music video 🤘
Classic!
Fantastic!!! Great to watch this video in a good quality. Thanks! Hope to watch the others too.
Man that takes me back. Thanks for this and keep rocking my friend.
I got to know Kick Axe thanks to Transformers the movie
For some reason, Canadian metal bands always included some element of comedy in their songs/videos.
You have to have a sense of humour when the Road to Rock runs through Regina.
Thanks man!!! Love this band!!!
I like rock songs about rocking
Awesome
Buddy had pipes!
i will never forget that video because that video of that silly bass form 😂😂
George Criston where are you?
just damn good Metal.
LOVE!@ROCKON!
All Marshall heads controls must be on ELEVEN 😂 4:17
This might be the cheesiest video in the history of mtv but the band and song are great!
Get on the road Turok!!!
Best video ever.
Great Band
Good God, how incredible is this video? Freaking amazing song and visuals and stunts! Check out the singers belly slide across the suits desk 3:22
Kick Ass !💪💪💪💪
How is this band so underrated
As a young Aussie fella in the 80s I was really into this type of music, and in my circle this band, and especially the vices album was well known. Outside of my circle this band were unknowns. No radio would have touched them I’m afraid.
I was born 87 but I found this band on a soundtrack compilation, grew up with great heavy metal in Germany but I've got to say, this feels better than anything I've heard in the genre
Yup I feel ya I'm soooo glad I grew up in the 80's That was music . Today it's like HUH ?? you call this Music???
I remember this band back in the day being kind of goofy.....and they still are.
As a fan of Savatage I disagree with opening of this video, other than that much respect to Kick Axe been listening to them since the mid '80's!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I can't help but feel let down by Hasbro... I would've been into this band 35 years ago if I had of known their Real Name...
I'm a HUGE Spectre General fan!!
I think the real reasoning why they changed the name was because Kick Axe off the tongue kinda sounds like "kick ass," and because it was a PG movie, they asked the name to be changed. In my opinion, I think the record label should've re-released all the albums under Spectre General immediately after the release of the Transformers movie. Maybe these guys would've went gold.
The Daisy Dukes aint workin lol
Gotta love rebellious 80s rock videos, Twisted Sister comes to mind too. Retrospectively, in past the over-conservative characters were a bad guys, nowadays it's a left wing domain...
👏👏🎶🎼🎵🎸🤘🤘
Bursting into establishments of education and business acting like cavemen... truly the epitome of 1980s era fantasies
That younger guy clapping behind George near the end of the video looks like he has no idea what's going on lol
Kick-arse
Omg, steel panther stole the idea from this band.
INGSOC Yes ! A bunch of us noticed that too ! That's because nothing, and I mean nothing..... Beats 80's ROCK !!!!
Pretty sure this band "stole" the idea of corrupting a teacher with rock from Van Halen's "Hot For Teacher" and Steel Panther simply payed homage to both bands.
Good stuff, Maynard.
if you see a video with Ozzy in barefet.. it came from Christon... love you all
Can anybody tell me anything about the kick axe bass? It seems gigantic I know that
Is that Kurt Mitchell singing? Looks like all those guitar methods paid off. Bravo
Of all the great songs on this album this is the song they made a video to?
Отпадный альб 84 г.!
Faaaaaaaack n rights.lol
How many mic takes did the road to rock take on that middle school mic(redundant) flip pageantry.
Утренняя песенка в дурдоме.
wow grade 11 videos were on citivision 11-12pm Friday nights?
80s metal turned this school marm into a hot nyphömaniac. ¥€$!!! At least that’s what I thought at the time … based on this video. 😂
...And then along comes Yngwie......
Steel Panther blatantly stole from this Kick Axe video.
@@tab6496 fuck off Steel Panther rules.Death to all but METAL
Well, I think both bands are great. Kick Axe and Steel Panther are awesome.
@@hugoalejandropinillacalder1553 yes i agree with you.People who bash Steel Panther should take into account that its the biggest selling Glam band since 1989
Hugo Alejandro Pinilla Calderón estoy de acuerdo... both bands are great. Vices is a great record all the way through. Steel panther are masters of taking the piss out of themselves, but write cool songs.
Oh look, it’s the UTI of bands
🤘🤪🤘🇮🇹
nice shorts
That barefoot guy must have stepped on a lot of erasers and pencil sharpeners in this video. Ouch.
1:37 The drummer is wearing hot pants. He dressed “metal”… in a Rob Halford kind of way.
The Eighties were such a great time for hard rock and metal. 👍
It was a glorious time being a teenager then.
