My theory about the book would be that all the supposed humans with abilities are actually the book itself, or their powers originated from the book, when their ability is activated, you can see writing, plus what could be linked to the book are their names directly, it is not known what year the anime takes place exactly, but it is known that several characters have authors' names and their powers correspond with the names of the authors' books, it was said that the silver/white tiger was the indicator of the book, so Atsushi is connected to that, Dazai, Atsushi and Akutagawa appear in the first season intro holding books, which could be some kind of sign.
Then going by this theory, assuming dazai is the author of the book or the book itself his ability would make sense, ability’s don’t work on him because he has or is the book

I mean there was a person who existed as Dazai osamu in 1909 who died by a double suicide . The 2d Dazai and the real Dazai has the same birthday and the real Dazai osamu wrote the book "No longer human". So my point is the real life Dazai is the author of this book and

Sigma being shuji is one thing that is not correct. Shuji is Dazai, it’s confirmed. Dazais actual name is shuji. If this were true, that shuji is sigma, than that would change this theory completely

I just thought of something while rewatching a crap ton of book theory reactions, what if Dazai created the book? It could make sense from the fact Dazai being able to nullify abilities could just be an extension of the book. And like seriously then the theory about his su*cide manual being the book can make sense and then there is also the way he got it as well. Eh I just feel like it makes a lot of theories people have about this come together and make sense. I’m probably wrong but it makes sense to me ig. This also could work with your theory about Natsume being Dazais dad, he could’ve passed his ability to make the book on to Dazai like we’ve seen with Kyouka.
